Wildlife Around Melton

Common Lizard are regularly found on the heaths and in Summer 2005 one was seen on the river footpath near Melton Dock.

In late April 2007 3 were seen along the footpath from Sutton Hoo to the Bawdsey Road B1083 near the Sutton Hoo turn off.

A dead Slow Worm was found near the junction between Common Lane, Bromeswell and the B1084 on the 25th May 2007.

Adders can occasionally be found on the heaths and on the 18th April 2007 one was seen sliding across the B1083 road near the Sutton Hoo turn off. A dead one was found on the Hollesley Road near Upper Hollesley Common on the 21st April 2007. 

Toads have been seen in Bromeswell Common woodland.

In Melton recreation ground woodland there is a pond which during early March 2007 had mating Toads along with Frog and Toad spawn.
