HOW IT STARTED.
Meloford Park was started back in 1994 with the purchase of a small acreage on the outskirts of Macksville, NSW. At this stage we enjoyed riding up in the bush with my Anglo-Arab, Domineaux & his mates who came & went as well. These were Red, Woody, Chooky, Janey (all TB's) & her foal JJ (stockhorse) the first foal born here. Then the breeding bug bit & the hunt was on for some TB mares to breed with.
They had to have one very important quality & that was a quiet temperament due to the fact we had young children at the time. Also, they had to be roomy & Naturally all the other important things came into play.
Then, followed the purchase of three Thoroughbred mares. An aged mare named Menangle Miss( by Tingo) who was in foal to Ksar Royal & also had a filly foal at foot by the same stallion. They were affectionately known as "Old Girl" & "Squirt" & "Cherokee" soon followed.
The "Old Girl" has since passed on & is now in Horse Heaven & both of her offspring were sold of locally with "Squirt" being broken in & lightly raced but was not up to stratch & is now enjoying life as a Riding horse/Broodmare. Cherokee was bought to race but never made it to the track & he too is enjoying life as a Hack.
The second mare was "Spirit O'Fire" (by Menzies) who too was in foal to Ksar Royal & produced a filly, "Hazy" who is the image of her dad & also has some of his silly little quirks. Spirit is currently away on lease & "Hazy" was bred to race but injured herself & has now been sold on as a PC club mount.
Since then, a couple of others have come & gone and we now have the following girls with us, Aigner(Monongahela) Spirit(Menzies), Skylights (Forest Glow), Winnie (Betchworth)Grafton...and We also have here with us, Muffet, Mystery & Joseph.
