Poems to Read

My Book

The rainbow is an internationally recognized symbol adopted by gays to signify their sexual orientation. I therefore wish to dispel any notion that the rainbow on my book cover is an indication of my sexual preference. The artwork is mine so I can assure you that, if anything, it represents what God originally intended--His covenant with mankind (Genesis 9:11-16). The abstract vase is consistent with the theme of water, while the various colors and shapes which comprise it might possibly symbolize, say, the vicissitudes of life . . . the drawing was spontaneous and it would be pretentious of me to attempt an interpretation. It is art for the sake of art; it is what it is, whatever it is.

Synopsis

As indicated by the subtitle, Stix & Stonz is a book of poetry written during the last quarter of the 20th Century.  It contains (38) previously unpublished poems—ranging from free verse, haiku, syllabic, and avant-garde to prose—which were selected with an overview to diversity of merit, style, and content.

The Apologia provided a medium for my philosophy and allowed me to advocate the arts (with an emphasis on literature) in the hope of encouraging and perhaps inspiring artists of all genres to believe in themselves, exercise and explore their potential, forge their own way, and strive for excellence in artistic expression.

This is my first and last collection.  However, in addition to my passion for poetry, it is a testament to my tenacity and triumph over illiteracy.  Stix & Stonz has truly been a labor of love and it is my meager contribution to modern culture.
