Remember, despite all this website can teach you, knowing all the information here does NOT qualify you to be a certified diver. You must complete all necessary training courses and pass all certification tests of an official certification company, to be recognized as an official open water or technical diver. Those who have met all the requirements set by a certification company are taking part in an on going tradition of diving. SCUBA diving was first made possible by Jacques Cousteau and Emile Gagnon, in 1942, with the invention of the aqua-lung. Every certified diver takes part in keeping this tradition alive.
