The issue of Cannabis as a medicine is not going to go away, and those that agree with it and believe it should be a person's right to use it and even grow a few plants for personal medical use, need to stick together. There is strength and encouragement in numbers.

(David's personal testimony is under 'Seizure Disorders')MEDICAL CANNABIS CAMPAIGN 2008

At the beginning of this year (2008) we did a Campaign on Medical cannabis, exposing the myths, the misconceptions, the lies, the exaggerations, the suppressions and most importantly, the simple fact that (and to quote our newspaper's headline), "Cannabis is Preferred by the Sick" as well as other positive facts.
What we did find was that although the majority of the people we talked to (Medical cannabis users; carers; nurses; parents etc) agreed that 'Cannabis is preferred by the sick', and that's what they want, the majority of our Government agree that "Pharmaceuticals have to be preferred by the sick", even if they don't want them.
Some countries have taken this preference 'on board' and allow people who are sick/ have disorders to use Cannabis as their preferred medicine. What is taking our Government so long? For one, before they make a decision they have to make sure it's in the interests of the Drug Cartels that back and sponsor them. Medicine and sickness have now become a multi-billion dollar empire that prefers wealth to health. Side effects (including deaths) are now stated as 'normal' and acceptable.
Toxic chemicals that under chemical poison listing are classed as 'extremely hazardous', are now dealt by Drug Lords (albeit 'legal' ones)and advocated by the same Government that denies medical cannabis users and their culture the right to choose the least toxic, least side effect causing medicine in the history of medicine......40,000:1 toxicity death ratio...and the pure active ingredient (THC) is 10,000:1. Try to find this ratio in Pharmaceutical drugs.
People who benefit from Cannabis as a medicine usually gain such a variety of benefits that they make the personal choice to 'ditch' Government advocated, proven toxic Pharmaceutical drugs. Some state that they have been able to either cut down, or completely stop taking active ingredient, synthetic medication. Governments and Pharmaceutical drug cartels do not like this, because instead of spending a lot of money buying their drugs, people are opting (even though they get branded as criminals) to grow their own medicinal cannabis, as a herb, for free, or they have to go out and 'score' their medicine from other people who have chosen to do the same thing that Pharmaceutical and other legal drug lords do on a regular basis, and that is deal drugs.
Governments state (and we quote from a letter we received on behalf of the Federal Health Minister, Nicola Roxon), "There is a risk that if Cannabis were allowed for medicinal purposes, it could be diverted into non-medicinal purposes, which poses a significant risk to the community". After we get over the discrimination, the "our drugs all good, your drugs all bad" policy that creates significant risk to the community, then we end up with a few simple factors.....
1) Abuse of a drug of choice causes significant risk and the buzzwords 'legal' and 'illegal' make no different to it.
2) Medical Cannabis users are forced to go out and 'score' from someone dealing Cannabis for a non-medicinal/recreational purpose, which is instigated by the Government who - although denying the choice - do not want medical sufferers to go to criminals to get their medicine. If they could grow their own, or had a Compassion Club/medical cannabis dispensary (as they do in some other countries), then they would not need to do that.
Dr. Kerryn Phelps stated that "Cannabis should be allowed for people on Compassionate grounds". And didn't our Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, state that "We are not going to make compassion a dirty word?" He also stated that "the buck stops' with him. This could explain two factors, 1. That people being denied their vital medication in favour of one dealt by Government-backed drug cartels, can blame Kevin personally, and 2. That the money/the 'buck' stemming from people being forced to buy toxic Pharmaceutical drugs (as well as those who have chosen to consume Pharmaceuticals - to each his/her own) - is going to his and his Government's wallet. Remember, Nature doesn't want your money, just your respect.
And if the 'buck is stopping with him', this means that $15.6 BILLION in death, damage, destruction and side effects from his recreational, psychoactive drug of choice (ethanol), also stops with him - while his Government chooses to deny us our choice of medicine.
3) Pharmaceutical, toxic drugs cause far more of a significant risk to the community, especially since drug cartels and media now push them on kids as young as 2 years old. Why? "Because they're gorgeous". (advertisement for the Ibuprofen drug cartel, Nurofen, and their 'drug pushing on babies' ad).
4) On the recreational side, (remembering that all drugs can cause damage when abused), there is a significant risk that people will stop spending their money on the forced recreational, psychoactive drug of all things Australian, ethanol (Yes, ethanol is a drug...too!), and will start spending their money on another choice of recreational, psychoactive drug - meaning there's a risk that Governments, and their Drug Cartels, will miss out on Drug Revenue.
Our belief is the belief of Australia (supposedly)...we believe in a FAIR GO FOR ALL, which means a fair, balanced, unbiased, equal journey in life for every individual. This includes the human right of medicinal choice. No human likes to have something forced on them that they don't want, while their choice is denied. There has been a simple term for this throughout history - it's called slavery.
