Mearns United Football Club

Mearns United FC was formed after the amalgamation of Royals FC from Laurencekirk and Fettercairn FC from (wait for it….) Fettercairn for the start of the 1991/92 season and have historically played out of the Montrose & District Sunday Welfare League in the north east of Scotland.  For the Start of the 2008/09 season Mearns United decided it was time for a new challenge, having played Sunday league for well over 15 years, and have now ventured into Saturday amateur football.  So as of the Saturday the 2nd of August 2008, Mearns United FC play out of the Aberdeenshire Amateur Football Association 3rd Division.  Their home pitch is situated in Fettercairn, and has recently undergone an extensive renovation programme which was funded by Sport Scotland and with money raised from charity fundraising by members and associations of the Fettercairn community, including the club itself.
