| Welcome to the Mayo Womens Soccer League Website. Welcome to the mayo Womens Soccer League website. Our aim is to provide you with the most up to date information on Womens Soccer in mayo, Ireland. We hope you can find all you need here. Please e-mail me at mikecj@eircom.net if you have any queries or need any thing added to your club page. But in 2006 Mayo reached the final and in one of the best womens games of 2006 mayo beat U.C.D on a scoreline of 1-0 to win the WFAI senior cup for the very first time. Mayo played in Europe in 2007 representing Ireland later that year they were knocked out in the 1/4 final of the irish cup by liford from clare by a score line of 2 - 1. In 2008 Mayo faced Roscommon in Manulla F.C on july 23rd in the Irish Cup they won 6-0 and played the dublin league on august 10th they won 3 - 1 But lost to peamount on sep.7th by 2-0 so the exited the irish cup for another year. 2009 mayo lost their first game in the irish cup to raheny and so exited the cup on may 3rd in dublin. In recent times emphasis has been put on improving the standard of the underage game. Due to these developments mayo once again boast players on the International scene. Also due to these developments we can now see some of the talent that has been fashioned coming through to the senior levels.
Women's Football Women's football is officially the fastest growing sport worldwide — and it's also the most exciting game at that! According to Sepp Blatter, the President of FIFA, football's world governing body: "The future of football is feminine." And he's probably right! There is presently an estimated 40 million girls and women now playing. By 2010, FIFA estimate that there will be as many women playing football around the world as men (100million). The standard and attractiveness of the women's football is also improving markedly. An estimated 1 billion television viewers from 70 different countries watched the last FIFA Womens World Cup held in the USA in 1999. Over 650,000 people also attended the live games, and at the final, a record attendance of over 90,000 watched the USA beat China on penalties. In Ireland, women's and girl's soccer is growing and the numbers have almost doubled in the past three years! There are over 350 clubs across Ireland playing football every week throughout their season — whether it's a summer or winter one. Whether you currently are a player or want to play competitive or just recreational football, it's a great way to keep fit and healthy, have fun and meet friends!
