Date: Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April 2008.
Venue: Panther Bowhunters Field Archery Club, Galleywood ,Essex.
Round: FITA 24 Mixed Round,( 12 Marked, 12 Unmarked each day ).
With the World FITA Field Championshipss in Wales later this year, many of the GB's top FITA Field Archers (Target too!) took this opportunity to compete at Panthers and hopefully gain those valuable qualifying scores in order to represent Great Britain in September.
George Fenton (Compound Unlimited) and Alastair Humphreys (Traditional Junior Gent's u18) competed both days, whereas I competed on Sunday. We really enjoyed ourselves and congratulations to Alastair who won his category. Thanks to those who gave George and I some good information.
Some of the scores were very impressive indeed and there was a very close battle in the Gents Compound Unlimited with Chris White just edging out Gary Cole. The list of good performances over this weekend are far too much to mention and results can be soon found on the GNAS Website under the Field link.
Robin Frost and Panther Bowhunters must be congratulated for this event and bringing it to our County. It is hoped that this will become a permanent fixture and, by judging comments from other competitors, I would imagine that future shoots would be just as well attended.
Many Thanks to George and Vi Minchin and all involved in the non-stop supply of food and drink. Finally thanks to the Judges.
Steve Fenton.
