There are many different types of wolves. The grey, or timber wolf is found in the northern parts of North America. The female usually weighs between 50 and 85 pounds. The males are a little heavier, weighing in between 70 and 110 pounds.  A female grey wolf can get as long as between 4.5 to 6 feet. The males average 5 to 6 feet. The average height of a gray wolf is 26 to 32 inches.

There is the red wolf, found in parts of North Carolina. This species is highly endangered. Female red wolves are usually 40 to 75 pounds, while the male red wolf weighs from 50 to 85 pounds. The average length of both a male and female red wolf is 4.5 to 5.5 feet. The average height of both a male and female red wolf is about 26 inches.

There is the mexican wolf, found in parts of southern New Mexico and central Arizona. This species is also highly endangered. Mexican wolves weighs between 50 to 90 pounds. The average length of a mexican wolf is 50 to 64 inches long. It's average hight is 24 to 32 inches. 

There is the arctic wolf, found in Canada, Alaska, and Northern Minnesota. Arctic Wolves weigh around 175 pound. The average hight of an arctic wolf is 25 to 31 inches. Thier body length is averagely between 3 to 5 feet.
