Charlyne is my wife. She was born in Paris, and used to play in the Jardin du Luxembourg when she was a little girl. She also went to watch Guignol every Thursday afternoon (because Thursday used to be a day off for fFench schoolchildren).  We met in Nice, and we have been married since 1970. I love her very much. I think she loves me too. She likes reading French literature and painting, and is a very good cook! Charlyne also helps me organize mathematical conferences and takes care of the logistics. Hard work, but she loves that! This is why I have dubbed her Mathematician Honoris Causa.

Here is a picture of Charlyne

Charlyne and I have four children together. By increasing age:

  • Sven. He was born in 1988 in Saskatoon, Canada. He is a high-school student in an International Baccalaureate program in Karlskrona. He is VERY smart at computers, and is a game creator. Sven is a vegetarian, and likes fireworks.
  • Samantha. She was born in 1974 in Ekenäs, a Swedish-speaking town in the south of Finland. She has studied English literature, and is now a talented photographer. She works together with Jill.  Celebrities like them, and they like celebrities! Samantha loves Starbuck's Frappuccinis, cats, and birds.
  • Corinne. She was born in 1972, in Nice, on the French Riviera. She is a primary and secondary teacher of English in France; her students love her.

Corinne has three kids: Andrea, Alex, and Ari. Corinne has many hobbies: she likes antiques and horses!

  • Serge. He was born in 1970, also in Nice. Serge has fulfilled his childhood dream: when he was a little boy he used to say "je veux devenir un hermite!''.  Now he lives in a magnificent environment near Växjö, in the forests of Småland (a vast region in southern Sweden). He has a PhD in pure mathematics. Serge is married to Theresie, who studies maths and physics. They have two lovely daughters, Amanda and Mathilda. Here are two pictures: on the first you see Amanda, Sven, Mathilda and Serge. On the second, Mathilda, Sven and Thérésie.
