Welcome to my webpage. My name is Matt and I live near Rochester, NY. I am a huge fan of the 26 - Time World Series Champion New York Yankees and of the Indianapolis Colts. This site is dedicated to the very exciting hobby of autograph collecting. It includes through the mail (TTM) requests, as well as in-person (IP) successes. Jim Kelly was at a local car dealership for a Foodlink food drive (he also purchased a new car while he was there). I got there earlier than I probably had to, but wanted to make sure I got the autograph. He was great, signed multiples, and took pictures with everyone. Mini NFL Footballs were given away to the first 150 people to donate a nonperishable food item.

A local car dealership brings in a former New York Yankee every yeah usually around this time. Graig Nettles was the guest this time. This was also a perfect opportunity to begin my new project. I recently purchased a 16x20 photo of the old Yankee Stadium and I plan on having as many former/current Yankees as I can sign it. It is going to look amazing when it is complete.

Tonight was the Rochester Red Wings HOF Induction Ceremony for Steve Finley and John Berly. Following the event, Steve signed autographs in the concourse.

I didn't have much at all for Buffalo (mainly Ricky Bones and Mike Lamb) and with the ceremony taking place on the field, I didn't expect too much. In fact, a lot of the players didn't stretch on the field and a good amount of the relief pitchers didn't go to the bullpen until game time. The most amusing part was watching the mascot try to zip its fly up and then get his glove caught in the zipper.

IP - Buffalo Bills Training Camp:

 

Tonight was another full team autograph session. Prior to the practice, I heard that Owens hurt his toe and would not be practicing with the team. I hoped that he would still show up at the signing, but with TO, who knows. We managed to be one of the first on the first bus and the bus driver left 15 minutes early since she knew we all wanted to get in TO's line. In the end, it all worked out. TO was actually the first one out (he did get a ride over on a golf cart) and signed for 100+ people. I don't know if this was the case for everyone, but from what I saw he gave a full signature on any Buffalo Bills photos and the crappy "TO 81" on any photos of previous teams.

• Trent Edwards - 1/1 Magazine (Edwards signed for a good 1/2 hour even though he kept saying he had to go. • Ruben Brown - 0/1 (He walked right through the stands and down onto the field, but I didn't notice him until it was too late.)

IP - Buffalo Bills Training Camp

 

Tonight was a full team autograph signing at Buffalo Bills Training Camp. Unfortunately we got to the parking lot at a local high school late and then our bus driver wasn't sure where to go (we were the second bus to leave from the school and the third one from that school, not to mention a few from other parking lots, to arrive at the camp). Needless to say, I didn't get in the T.O. line.

 

Autograph Signing:

• Marshawn Lynch - 1/1 8x10 Photo, 1/1 Card (I was getting my items signed when T.O. finally came out after everyone else had been out there. Lynch did not seem happy with him and said something to Fred Jackson about it.)
• Paul Posluszny - 1/1 Card
• Ashton Youboty - 3/3 Cards (1 bubbled) ("Now, these aren't going on EBay, right?" After I tried to assure him that they weren't, he finished up with "Good, 'Cause that wouldn't make me very happy.")
• Brian Moorman - 1/1 Card (I had more but when I got to him it was after the other players were leaving. There was a mob in front of him so I grabbed one and tried to hand it over their heads and fortunately he grabbed it before runnung off.)
• Terrence McGee - 2/2 Cards

• Jim Kelly - 0/1 Mini Helmet (Everyone was calling him over, but after doing a few interviews, he walked off the field. I also had an 8x10 that I forgot at home but it didn't matter.)

Harris, Fitzpatrick, and Hamdan also signed, but I didn't have anything else for them. Posluszny signed a few down at the far end before running to the other side of the field to sign some more.

Ryan Gugel of the Williamsport Crosscutters was born in Batavia. It seemed like the majority of the stadium was cheering for the Crosscutters for that reason, especially when Ryan came up to bat. Unfortunately, he went 0-4 with 4 strikeouts. That must be such a great experience to play in front of your hometown friends and family.

I headed down to Scranton and went to my first game at PNC Field. It has a big league feel to it, at least compared to other minor league parks I have been to. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful to the people visiting (there were a lot of us there for some reason). Before the game, a YES Network camera crew interviewed a guy behind me (who later tried to hook Pena and Cervelli up with his sister) after he small talked his way into it. Not sure exactly what program it is for, but they were at Trenton the previous day and Staten Island that morning. After the game I met up with Sean (bbbuddy18428)... it was great to meet you!!

Luis Tiant was an autograph guest tonight. He was awesome and took pictures with anyone that asked, which made the line go fairly slow.

The previous game was rained out so they played a doubleheader. Throughout the two games, I kept trying to get some good pictures. Each time I would sit down in a good spot, the usher for that section would ask for my ticket . I picked up two 2009 Red Wing team sets (1 for a 50/50), so I began to work on those post-game.

Matt Tolbert came out on crutches with Justin Huber carrying all of his bags, ect. Dustin Martin came out of the door on a skateboard with Brock Peterson running behind him. As we were leaving, I saw the Pawtucket bus heading back to the stadium for the third time, so I don't know who got on it.

Last night was the season opener for the Batavia Muckdogs, Single A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. It is always easy to graph here and the players are normally very willing to sign. I took close to 200 pictures of everyone in the game so I should have some more stuff to get signed next time. If anyone needs anything done, just let me know. They had the ring ceremony pre-game for the players remaining from last season's championship team. That was cool as I have never seen one before. The rings were nice... all the front office people were walking around with them on.

IP - DUR vs. ROC:

Harmon Killebrew was an autograph guest at the game tonight. My grandfather came with us, so I knew ahead of time that I wouldn't be able to stay for post-game. Due to the weather (it was raining fairly well here), we got to the game later than we usually do for autograph signings, resulting in me standing in line for almost two hours to get an autograph. That took up any pre-game opportunities, so I only came away with two autographs tonight. Howvere, those two were pretty sweet.

Today was my first game at a AAA park other than Rochester. It was nice, but it is hard to top Frontier Field. I also realized games are a lot more fun when you care who wins.

Aceves pitched tonight, but decided to sign anyway pre-game. He signed for a good 5 minutes in the dugout, on his way to the bullpen, and then again on his way back. I thought that was pretty cool of him and not very common for starters to do before they pitch. He also seemed amused at my Scott Aldred cards (he pointed at them and laughed).

Phil Hughes came into the dugout a few minutes prior to the start of the game. Of course, everyone started to call him over, but Phil just sat there ignoring us. Justin Leone, who was signing along the third base line at the time, began yelling to him as well, but Phil didn't even look over. That was pretty amusing.

Post-game, a fence was set-up to keep the graphers away from the players as they went to the bus. Security was also there for the same reason. This is the only time I have experienced this in Rochester and don't know of any other time that it happened.

Sean Henn came out and began to tell us a story about how he signed a baseball for a guy a few years ago when he was here as a visitor. Two days later, it ended up on Ebay and Sean decided not to sign in Rochester ever again. Now that he plays here, that plan is no longer in effect. He did say though that he remembers what the guy looks like that sold the ball and is waiting to see him again. I hope I am there... that could get interesting.

Tonight was the 81st Annual Rochester Red Wings Welcome Home Dinner. This is always a great event to get autographs and meet the "Twins of Tomorrow." Drew Butera was seated at our table and he is a great guy. We talked about catching a knuckle ball, playing against the Yankees in ST, the reality show that will be following them around this year (WXXI was there to film the dinner), his father playing in Toronto, and how Ken Griffey Jr. used to be his favorite player. One time in Toronto, his father took him into the dugout to meet Pinella. There were no fans in the stadium yet. Lou got ARod and a few other big names to come over. He then went to get Griffey. Ken looked a Drew, back at Lou, back at Drew and then walked off the field. For this reason, Drew said that he will always sign... he might not sign "15 things," but he will sign. Once again, he is a great guy.

Today I went to Collectorsfest 50 at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. It is a great show and I picked up some cards thta I will hopefully get signed this season. Originally, Darryl Strawberry was going to attend, but he canceled a week or so in advance. In the end, it turned out pretty well as I purchased one for about half the price that came with a COA.
