We had a Force 11 gale on Monday night, which was rather exciting. 105 mph gusts and you could hear the tiles protesting. Our friend Michelle arrived from Chatham on Wednesday night, the 9th November, and again the weather has been rather unfriendly. We went up to Sumburgh lighthouse and the wind was rocking the car from side to side. We had to drive down the hill extremely slowly. My wife has got a full time job so it is left to me to be  house husband and look after our three year old, taking her to nursery and do the cleaning, washing and cooking. Rather a change from an office job and it makes you appreciate how much unpaid work your spouses do while you are at work! To be honest if I took up a job at the moment all my pay would swallowed up in nursery and child minder costs so what is the point? Wait until she starts school and then get a job otherwise it would necessitate getting another car, for extra cost and for what? Better to take some quality time and spend it doing something worthwhile. The nights are getting darker, sunset is at 1600 and unfortunately it is cloudy so we do not get any Northern lights. We have lots of social activities to look forward to. Youth group for the children on 18th November, a Dance at beginning of December at Bigton Hall. I will have to remember how the Gay Gordons goes and Strip the Willow!! I only used to play the bagpipes at the Ingleside evenings in New Zealand and besides all the music up here is fiddles and accordions!
