All these customs are very new to us so we have to find everything out for ourselves by asking people! It is all quite exciting. The children go back to school next Monday and I will be starting my new job when and where I am needed for it. There are lots of things to do around the house and the garden to dig over ready for planting later on. My wife decorated the master bedroom, which looks much nicer than the original dcor. Friends of hers came for lunch the other day and they have a boat so there is a promise of being able to go on a fishing trip or two, which will be fun. That is a long-term plan of mine; to get a small boat for just taking out a little way to do fishing. You have to be careful because of the propensity for the weather to suddenly change and the strong differing currents of the tides. My exciting news is that I received my Honours degree in Bachelor of Law so I can now have letters after my name! My dad was quite delighted when I told him that news. It remains for me to say Happy New Year to all my friends and colleagues worldwide and hope that all your ambitions and dreams come true. However the weeks over Christmas and the New Year have been around 8 degrees which is considerably warmer than the rest of the UK. Absolutely fine weather with the minimum of gales, which have been noticeable by their absence! We did have a couple of days of snow but that melted away quickly but I still got some pictures of it. I have been walking around in a T-shirt and jeans for most of the time. It was a quiet period for us though festive. Christmas is very laid back up here and we had Aunty and Uncle around for Christmas Dinner and then played some games. There was the usual rubbish on Television so it hardly went on at all except some mornings when it was cold and raining and the children could not go out. I cooked a goose, which was superb, and I am now busy using up the goose fat when I need some lard or dripping. Mrs Beeton is an ideal cookbook for up here because it really is very simple to  take half a sheep for a very reasonable price! We had the most amazing Northern Lights the other night shortly before New Years Eve and the whole sky was striped with pulsating green strips and balls of light. Most incredible sight if you are lucky enough to see it.
