Galadrius
The Ship of Doom
This is the story of a ship named Galadrius, it was a small ship until the ship’s captain Charlemangus Olsonus decided that it needed to be bigger for the deep blue sea. I’ll start at the beginning when Charles (for short) was a boy, he was fascinated with the martial arts and sailing. Those martial arts would include Karate, Kung Fu, ninjitsu, and the Way of Bushido. He started studying these arts in the Caribbean. You might think that there are few martial artists there, but there was one sensei. Charles studied with Master Hoil’e Noin for 3 years. At age 12 he stopped studying with him because he was to go with his father to the Eskimo land. (ND) It took them 2 months, some of the way on horseback and some of it on foot. He spent his childhood there. He built small rafts (he called them ships) and sailed down rivers and lakes. One time when he was sailing he ran into elves, the elders of this world. They foretold his future. He was to sail Galadrius, The Ship of Doom. They also told him he was going to run into pirates and unknown evil. The last thing they told him was that he would make a journey back to the Northern Tip of South America. He would construct Galadrius there and after that he would share in many adventures with his partner and crew.
The ship didn’t need that many people to man the ship for it was a magical ship. The Elves gave him a medallion that would make the ship magical. Charles also had a collection of magical weapons of good, this collection would help a lot. He was also a skilled warrior in not just martial arts, but he also fought broadsword style too. Charles wanted to leave right away as anyone would. But the Elves said he had to wait for his partner to get him. The Elves told him to be ready at the first light on the 27th day of April, which just happened to be his birthday.
Now we skip ahead to 26th of April, he is ready. His partner comes and it is his old Elven friend from his youth, Limfa Luos. They went on their way. Down the Mississippi River, then called the Mystic River. They only had one confrontation on their way down from the Dark Lord, Sanzar. (If this were a movie this would be a good place for the “Dun, Dun, Dunnnn…”) It wasn’t Sanzar himself that slowed their trip, it was his minions the Cros. They are vile creatures that are trained in battle. They have no remorse and NO mercy, no brains for individuality, just battle.
When they got to Port Rishi in South America after 2 months and 4 days of traveling, they got right to work on Galadrius. They worked until dawn. Then out of exhaustion, collapsed. They slept until sundown and worked all night again. This cycle continued for a week. They were tired at the end of the week, but they had much left do to. They could walk all over the ship. They just had to put the second layer of wood and metal in the front, waterproof it a few more times, arm it and stock it with food and their belongings. After another 2 weeks of working with help from Elves, who don’t tire as easily as humans, they were done. They went and had a drink at the pub and retired for the night. Then the next day they picked out four men and Elves to accompany them.
The ship set sail with 12 people on board and went first to pirate territory. Their mission was to take a piece of treasure and try to barter with the pirates for a medallion of great importance to Charles and the people with him. They got to an island called “Sinso Isle”. They talked to the pirate captain, Skitune Velvus. He asked what we were offering in turn? Charles said to him that he was offering him a sword. It is a magical sword. He said that he had a sword and Charles said, “not like this one” and sliced his head off. The medallion was in the captain’s pocket. Limfa and the team took the medallion and made a clean escape, no confrontation. They had thought they had escaped the pirates, but that night they noticed a light tailing them. So they made a decoy, a little raft made of barrels and rope and pieces of wood.
Two lamps were put on the decoy and the lamps on the ship were put out.
That morning they woke to hear cannons just starting to fire behind the fog. So they manned their cannons. But they realized, before starting to open fire, the other ship was firing on the decoy. They hurried up and got out of there. The pirates that tailed them were smart, they knew that it was a decoy. Earlier that day a Cros ship opened fire on the pirates’ ship. The Cros killed all who were on the ship. They took the pirate ship. On the original Cros ship, the most valuable cargo was Sanzar himself. He used his evil powers and made the ship invisible. Sanzar’s ship was behind the pirate ship, but Charles’ could not see it. Limfa suspected that there was another ship. He couldn’t see it, but he could sense it.
During the night the Cros invaded Galadrius and took the medallion back. It was Charles’ and Limfa’s job to get it back. They tailed the ship for 2 days and caught up to it. At noon, the battle began. The pirates fired first, but Charles wasted no time to shoot. Charles and Limfa jumped in the water and swam to the other ship. They killed the first to challenge them. Limfa got an arrow through his leg, but he healed it with his elvish powers. Charles being very skilled got no major wounds just a couple of cuts and scratches. In the end one sailor of the team got killed. Charles found the medallion and took it back. They also took another medallion of evil power. They kept this medallion in a very secret place. Their task was simple, get the medallions and become powerful and destroy Sanzar. Destroying Sanzar was their task through the whole journey. It had been hidden from them, but that was it. At the end of the week they were found by a ship of men and Elves and a wizard. The wizard’s and name was Hanzir. Hanzir said that Sanzar would send Cros any day now. The Elves would help the team fight.
They worked out a plan. The next morning the Cros attacked, there was one ship with Cros on it, but Charles suspected there was another ship. They opened fire! The other ship that Hanzir had, came up from behind and surprised the Cros ship with additional cannon fire. The Cros ship sank. Then a silence filled the air, Sanzar’s ship, with a 100 more Cros, came up behind them. Sanzar stepped out on deck, he looked at Charles and yelled “open fire!”. It has began. Sanzar using his powers jumped from his ship to Charles’. Sanzar and Hinzir started fighting. Hinzir slammed Sanzar down with his staff. Sanzar sliced Hinzir’s arm. Just one clean cut, straight down his arm. Then Hinzir used a spell and blasted Sanzar into the water. Charles and Limfa were doing great. Then all of a sudden Sanzar materialized right in front of Charles. (those magical weapons I told you about are used in this part.) Charles pulled out his battle axe. He through it at Sanzar. In mid-air the axe doubled and then tripled!
Sanzar’s right hand was cut clean off. Sanzar reached for his sword, but Charles shot an arrow at his sword and the sword exploded. Sanzar took out another sword and the duel was on! Charles swung first, the swords went “CLANG”. Everything was in motion. Sanzar cut Charles’ eye. They fought for 15 minutes. He was ready for a cold blooded kill, for Charles’ had no weapons left. Sanzar had Charles on his knees, Limfa came to his rescue by stabbing Sanzar in the right side of the chest. He screamed, Charles, seizing this last chance, grabbed his sword and swung it. He could not see out of his right eye. It hit something. Something went “splash” in the water. Sanzar’s body fell to the ground, headless. But another splash was heard. He noticed Limfa was missing. Looking into the water he saw Limfa’s body floating, with arrows sticking out of his arms and one in his chest. Charles jumped in and grabbed Limfa. The crew threw down a rope and brought them aboard. The Elves cured him and when he was conscious Limfa said “I saw a light, my father was there. He told me it was not my time to come into his world.”
The team has not quit their adventures. They are still out there today. For at that time when they came into the harbor from their journey, they were gifted long life from the Elves. If you look closely you can see them, if you wish to look at all.
