Mátra Wildlife Tours is able to provide affordable nature holidays that reflect the interests of its guests. Some visitors may only be interested in birds, others only in butterflies, whilst many would enjoy the whole range of natural history. Whatever the field of interest, we are able to devise tailor-made programmes to satisfy all tastes.
Our tours are very informal affairs, and we usually cater for small groups of naturalists, although larger groups can also be accommodated. Each day, the guests are collected from their accommodation by the local guide and transported to species-rich sites. These daily trips are run very much like the field trips of the local natural history societies in Britain, and the guide will adjust the pace and itinerary to give maximum enjoyment.
2010 Amphibian Extravaganza !
If you're interested in amphibians, come to Hungary in the Spring to witness the varied calls and displays of a wide range of amphibian species.
We can offer an exciting opportunity to watch the breeding behaviour of species such as the Green Toad, Fire-bellied Toad, Common Spadefoot Toad, Agile Frog, and Green Tree Frog.
Mátra Wildlife Tours has access to a unique, open location that has shallow water and which provides opportunities to photograph and film amphibian species at close quarters.
Depending on the time of the visit, we may also observe some of the reptile species.
Please note that we limit the number of visitors on-site at any one time to avoid disturbing the animals and their habitat.
