This chat applet is here for users who want to speak to other users that read the comic and/or visit the forums. It isn't integrated into the board, so you can use any name you like, though identifying yourself in the room after joining would be nice. Keep in mind, besides this applet, you can join it by many other means, since it is REAL IRC and not a "Webchat" as you may have encountered. For info, see below for programs/clients and how to connect. Other than just the look, feel, and overall experience, it's an online multiplayer... Notepad.

I highly recommend using an IRC client to connect, such as:
mIRC (Windows)
Trillian (Useful if you also use multiple IM clients)
Chatzilla (This is for Mozilla browsers)
Xchat (Linux/Windows)
Colloquy (Mac IRC)
This server supports SSL connections, which is a secure line with encryption.
Xchat supports it by default, just connect with:
Server: irc.zonexus.net
Port: +6697
