Kingston 2, Plymouth 1;
Matt Burgess’ two-run home run in the sixth inning gave Kingston the victory. Brendan Pittsley threw the tying run out at the plate in the bottom of the seventh. Will Costa picked up the win for Kingston. Plymouth’s Joe Flynn struck out 15 in six innings.
Sandwich 9, Wareham 1;
Jeff Lopes and Dustin Brown drove in two runs apiece to lead Sandwich Post 188 to a 9-1 win over Wareham Post 220 last night in American Legion baseball action. Lopes and Brown each had two hits for Sandwich (6-0), with Lopes doubling home two runs in the third. Brown singled home a run in the first and doubled home another in the fifth. Al Stanton limited Wareham (4-4) to one run on three hits and one walk while striking out six. Stanton also had three hits. Cody Hill finished with two hits, including a RBI single in the first. John Hendy added a RBI single in the third, while Jimmy Souza plated a run in the fifth with a single. Jim DiCecco added a RBI double in the third.
Barnstable 11, Rockland 2;
Keegan Dellacona tossed a complete game to lead Barnstable Post 206 to a convincint victory over Rockland Post 147. Dellacona struck out six and allowed just five hits. The Barnstable offense was led by Tim Biliouris, who was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Will Sullivan and Nick Ashworth also finished with two hits for Barnstable, and Anthony Post drove in two runs and also played outstanding defense at shortstop.
Tuesday, June 23rd
Hingham 2, Whitman 1;
A classic pitcher's duel transpired at Hngham's Cronin Field between Jake Ruoff of Whitman and Eric Mac Iver of Hingham. Hingham scored in the first inning as Jake McGuiggan singled and came around to score on a acrifice fly. Ruoff scored for Whitman in the second inning after a pair of Hingham errors. P.J. Falvey led off the fifth with a single and after two sacrifices scored the winning run. Mac Iver struck out 13 for Hingham yeilding one hit and no earned runs while Ruoff was also impressive giving up only 4 hits.
Wareham 9, Brockton 6;
Messy conditions couldn't keep Post #220 from a muddy victory at Spillane Field in Wareham. Ben Church pitched a complete game with twelve strikeouts and helped his cause with an RBI single in the third inning. Ryan Shove went 1-for-2 on the night, but found himself on base three times, scoring three runs. Wareham teammate Chris Nye walked twice and added a two RBI base hit in the bottom of the fourth.
Sunday, June 21st
Middleboro 9, Dennis 2;
Dennis Post 488 lost a tough game yesterday in horrible conditions at Cape Tech. Dennis was close much of the game and went into the seventh trailing only 3-2, but Middleboro scored six runs in the seventh to pull away. Bryan Sweeney went 2-for-3 with one RBI and John Charves was 2-for-2 with one RBI for Dennis.
Friday, June 19th
Rockland 3, Brockton 1;
Rockland Post 147 defeated Brockton Post 35 3-1 thanks to the complete game 6-hitter pitched by Josh Sullivan. Sullivan struck out 7 improving his record to (2-1). Matt Losciuto doubled and scored on a single by Scott Stohlberg to tie the game but a perfectly executed squeeze by Jeff Gardner scoring John Mulready won the game. Derek Smith had two hits for Rockland. Tough luck loser was Matt Sliney who pitched a great game allowing only four hits. Joe Higgins had three hits for Brockton.

Hawkeye AC 9, Hanover 8;
Hawkeye AC erased a four-run deficit in the first to improve to 3-1-1 with a 9-8 American Legion victory over Hanover Wednesday night at Hanover High School. Zac Cooney pitched six innings for the win. Matt Newcomb had two hits including a two-run homer. Casey DeAndrade had three hits for Hawkeye.
Tuesday, June 16th
Hingham 10, Hanover 0;
Eric Mac Iver pitched the shutout for Hingham striking out 7 and giving up only 3 hits. Mac Iver also had two hits and knocked in two runs. P.J. Falvey had a bases loaded triple to key a six run third inning. K.C. Murphy had two hits as did Zach Walker while Matt Henriksen scored three runs.
The Hawkeye Athletic Club got a complete-game pitching effort from Matt Newcomb in a 6-4 victory over Plymouth on Monday night. Newcomb struck out six to record the win. Mike Marshall led the Hawkeye offense with three hits while Sam Previte added a two-run double and Leo Finnegan had a pair of hits. Plymouth’s offense was led by Matt Walsh with two hits.
Whitman 10, Middleboro 0;
Post 22 ran its winning streak to four by blanking Middleboro. John Bilunas went the distance, improving to 2-0, allowing three hits, striking out five and issuing no walks. Whitman (4-1) scored eight runs in the third with Anthony Glynn getting a three-run double and Bill Collins adding a two-run double. Greg Fleming drove in a pair of runs while Jake Ruoff had two hits and scored two runs.
Abington 7, Bridgewater 2;
Tyler Hitchcock (2-for-3, double, RBI) and Zach Littman (2-for-4, two doubles, two RBI) highlighted a six-run fourth inning for Abington in a win over host Bridgewater.
Kingston 11, Pembroke 4;
Kingston improved to 1-4 as Brendan Pittsley struck out five in five innings. Kyle Larrow had a pair of hits and drove in two runs and Devin Rudolph was 2-for-2 with two RBI for the winners.
Duxbury 6, Post 35 0;
Brockton’s only hit came on a Chris Pittman single as Duxbury cruised to the win, handing Post 35 its first loss in four games this season. Matt Sliney pitched 4 1/3 innings of two-hit ball with one run allowed for Post 35.
Wareham 9, Rockland 6;
Tom Cole, who had six strikeouts, was the winning pitcher as Wareham improved to 4-2. Josh Sullivan was 4-for-4 with a double and triple for Rockland.

Hingham was awarded a forfeit win.

Whitman 2, Wareham 1;
Jake Ruoff pitched a complete-game two-hitter as Whitman Post 22 beat Wareham Post 220, 2-1, Sunday in Wareham. Ruoff allowed one unearned run while striking out 10 for Whitman (3-1). Wareham’s Pat Murphy matched Ruoff until the sixth inning when John Bilunas ripped a two-run triple to break a scoreless tie. Bill Collins tallied two of Whitman’s five hits.Wareham (3-2) scored its lone run on a single by Ryan Delgado and an error in the sixth. Ruoff retired the side in order in the seventh.
Hingham 7, Norwell 4;
A two run homer by Jake McGuiggan in the 6th inning broke open a 4-4 tie to give Hingham the victory. Charlie Cifrino singled home K.C. Murphy in the seventh for the final run. McGuiggan and Murphy each had 3 hits for Hingham. Jim Trubia ptched the first 3 1/3 innings and Sam Koonce came in with the bases loaded in the 4th and induced an unassisted double play when he caught a bunt and then ran to third for the double play.
Sandwich 5, Duxbury 2;
Sandwich Post 188's Al Stanton gets more impressive each time out. Stanton (2-0) overcame a two-run first inning homer by Duxbury's Dan Findley to pitch 188 to its fourth straight victory to start the American Legion season, 5-2, yesterday at Sandwich High School. Stanton wiped out the 2-0 deficit with one swing, belting a three-run homer to center in the fourth inning for a 3-2 lead. Kevin Sullivan drove in a fourth run in the inning with a base hit, and scored the game's final run in the sixth on a throwing error. Stanton gave up just two hits in the final six innings on his way to a four-hitter. He struck out 10, including four in the final two innings, and walked one. "He didn't get rattled by the homer, and those last two innings were his best," said 188 coach Ken Kozens. Sullivan and Cody Hill each had a pair of hits for 188.
Plymouth 12, Dennis 3;
Plymouth Post 40 scored nine runs in the first inning on its way to a victory over Dennis Post 488. The lone bright spot for Dennis was a 2-for-4, two-RBI day by Dan Creel.
Hawkeye A.C. 2, Kingston 0;
Timmy Cooney pitched a complete-game two-hitter with 12 strikeouts to blank Kingston. Nick Fedor had a pair of hits for Hawkeye (1-1) while Mike Marshall and Zac Cooney drove in both runs.
Saturday, June 13th
Brockton 16, Barnstable 8;
Post 35 used a 15-hit attack to defeat host Barnstable, 16-8, improving to 3-0. Brockton scored nine runs in the first three innings on the way to victory.
Craig Stewart went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs to lead Post 35. Ryan Young, Joey Higgins and Mike Rodriguez had two hits and two RBI apiece for the winners. Mike Paul was the winning pitcher.
Friday, June 12th
Whitman 7, Pembroke 3;
Whitman Post 22 registered their second win of the season beating Pembroke Post 143 by a score of 7-3. Whitman rode the back of winning pitcher Bill Collins who pitched a complete game six hitter striking out eight and walking only one. Pembroke scored three runs on four hits in the first inning and Collins shut them down the rest of the way. Whitman bats answered quickly in the bottom of the first with four runs of their own with 2-run doubles from John Bilunas and Chris Adams. Collins would also contribute at the plate with two hits and two runs scored. Pembroke's first inning was highlighted by a long solo home run by Kevin Plant.
Brockton 4, Middleboro 2;
The combined pitching effort of Mike Rodriguez (5 innings, 5 hits, 3 strikeouts, 2 runs) and Matt Sliney (2 innings, 0 hits, 2 strikeouts), cleared the way for Post 35 in a 4-2 win over Middleboro. Ryan Young (RBI) and Shane Earnardore each had two hits for Post 35.
Wareham 10, Duxbury 0;
Post 220 baseball team exploded for six runs in the top of the fifth inning and defeated host Duxbury, 10-0, in American Legion action Friday night. Ben Church got the victory on the mound throwing a one-hitter and helped himself with a 3-for-3 and four-RBI night for Wareham. Ryan Delgado went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and three RBIs, while Michael Sullivan and Derek Flynn had a hit in their only at-bat.

Dennis 7, Norwell 1;
Bryant Warner held Norwell to one run on five hits and had two hits and an RBI at the plate to lead Dennis Post 488 to a 7-1 win over Norwell Post 192 in American Legion baseball action last night. Warner struck out six through seven innings to help Post 488 improve to 1-1. Dennis got two runs in the third and added five more in the fourth. Robbie Nelson went 2-for-5 with two RBIs while Bryan Sweeney drove in two runs. Matt O'Connor was key at third base for Post 188.
Sandwich 9, Pembroke 3;
Geoff Lopes had three hits, including a two-run double in the third to lead Sandwich Post 188 over Pembroke 143, 9-3. Joe Perry added a two-run triple in the second en route to improving Sandwich's record to 3-0. Jim Souza added an RBI double in the second inning. Dustin Brown doubled in two runs in the fourth while and RBI double by John Hendy and an RBI single by Jim DiCecco in the seventh capped scoring.Bob Whelan pitched 3 innings of one-run, one-hit relief for the win. Nick Croft pitched two innings of scoreless, one run ball to close out the game.
Whitman Post 22 (1-1) earned their first win of the season with a 7-4 victory over Barnstable Post 206 (1-2). John Bilunas was the complete game winning pitcher striking out eight while walking two. Bilunas was in complete control until the 7th when Barnstable rallied for three runs to make the game interesting. Hitting stars for Whitman were Greg Donahu who was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Bilunas added two hits and 2 RBI along with 2 stolen bases.
Nick Ayala hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Rockland, which hung on for a 6-5 win over Hanover. Matt Lusciuto finished 3 for 4 with three runs and Cory Mitchell went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Cory Comeau pitched seven innings allowing five hits, two earned runs while striking out 5 for Rockland.
Tommy Cole struck out 12 Hawkeye batters in seven shutout innings. He allowed four hits and didn't walk a batter throughout the night. First baseman Hunter Horton went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Evan Bissonnette went 1-for-2 w/2 RBI’s. Also, making his first start at third base, Hunter Black went 1-for-2 and drove in a pair.
Zach Walker came on in relief and with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and a one run lead in the bottom of the 7th inning produced a comebacker to the mound a strikeout and a ground out that Jake McGuiggan made a great play to force the runner at second to give Hingham a one run victory. P.J. Falvey with a home run , Charlie Cifrino and Andrew Pompeo with triples and Dan Battista with two hits paced the offense..
Monday, June 8th
Brockton Post 35 rallied from a 2-1 deficit by pushing across 12 runs with two out in the bottom of the fifth to romp to a 13-2 win over Dennis in a Zone 10 Legion baseball opener for both teams Monday at Campanelli Stadium. Craig Stewart went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI for Post 35. Joe Higgins also had two doubles and an RBI. Matt Sliney pitched seven innings for the win, allowing five hits and two unearned runs with seven strikeouts.
Middleboro 12, Rockland 6:Evan Anderson scattered 11 hits over seven innings with eight strikeouts to get the win for Middleboro Post 64. Collecting two hits apiece for Middleboro (1-1) were Brent Lydon, Nick Dean, Jake Szulak, Brett Holmgren, Sean Newcomb and Anderson. Joe Lennon turned in 4 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for Rockland Post 147. Josh Sullivan slugged a two-run homer and Cory Comeau went 3-for-4 for Rockland.
Sandwich built a 6-1 lead then held on for its second win in as many tries this season. Cody Hill had a pair of RBIs and single runs were knocked in by Al Stanton and Jim DiCecco. Bobby Whelan scored a run on the front end of a double steal. David Kent pitched 4 innings of relief to earn the victory, allowing three hits and fanning six.
Hanover 13, Barnstable 12;
Down 13-6 in the last inning, Barnstable scored six times, but left the tying run in scoring position and fell to defending state champion Hanover. Zach Sullivan, Alex Pernick, Everett Walsh and Anthony Post all had three hits for Barnstable. Sullivan also knocked in three runs and Pernick, Walsh and Post had two RBIs each.
Hingham 6, Hawkeye 6;
Hingham rallied from a 6-0 deficit with 4 runs in the 4th inning as Eric MacIver singled in two runs and Rob Hill doubled home two more runs. Back to back doubles by K.C. Murphy and Charlie Cifrino produced another run in the 5th inning. Sam Koonce singled home Hill for the tying run in the 6th inning. Koonce shut down Hawkeye in the bottom of the 6th with two on and no outs to preserve the tie.
Wareham 5, Pembroke 3;
Wareham's home opener took place at Spillane Field on the campus of Wareham High School in Wareham vs. Pembroke. Post #220 jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Nick Filloramo paced himself to pitch six-plus strong innings, recording 8K’s, while walking only two. Ryan Delgado went 2-for-3 with a solo HR and Chad Snow went 2-for-3 providing a 2-run HR. Anthony Angelo made his first start at third base and also went 2-for-3 on the night.
Sunday, June 7th
Rockland 8, Pembroke 2:
Pitcher Josh Sullivan struck out nine and slugged a two-run homer to lead Rockland Post 147 over Pembroke Post 143 in their season opener. Sullivan scattered five hits in his complete game while allowing only one earned run. He also led Rockland’s 12-hit attack with three hits. A.J. Roache and Cory Comeau had two hits apiece for Rockland.
Hanover 6, Wareham 2:
Paul Cheney turned in the complete-game mound win for Hanover Post 149 over Wareham Post 220, allowing two runs, on four hits while striking out eight. Hanover shortstop David Gibson hit a home run and second baseman Cory Himberg went 2-for-3. Rich McHugh slugged a two-run homer and Mitch McClune had an RBI double.
Hingham 3, Bridgewater 2:
Eric MacIver for Hingham and Tim Belanger of Bridgewater matched up for nine innings in a classic pitcher's duel. Hingham scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning when MacIver doubled home Matt Henriksen who led off the inning with a single and stole second. Henriksen had four hits and Hingham center fielder Sam Koonce threw out the winning run at home plate in the 6th inning.
Mike Connolly and Kyle Cachopa each had an RBI in the loss for Bridgewater Post 203. Tim Belanger took the mound loss, allowing six hits and striking out five. Tyler Waterman had three hits for Bridgewater.
Barnstable Post 206 overcame a wild night to edge Kingston, 12-11, in its American Legion opener yesterday at Cotuit's Lowell Park. Barnstable, which trailed 9-0 in the fourth inning, overcame 14 walks by it's pitchers to grab the improbable win. Reliever Keith Limatainen brought some semblance of sanity to the game with four innings of hitless relief. He got a strikeout with the bases loaded to end the game. Post 206 scored six runs in the fourth, five in the fifth and one in the sixth. Mike Pernick was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Rich Myatt was 1-for-2 with three RBIs and Zach Tevens was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Sandwich 9, Whitman 4:
Sandwich Post 188 got it's Legion season off to a good start, scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 9-4 victory over Whitman. D.J. Crook snapped a 4-4 tie with a leadoff homer in the sixth. Later in the inning, Dustin Brown doubled in a pair of runs and Cody Hill singled in two more. Starting pitcher Al Stanton walked the first two hitters in the seventh, but reliever Nick Croft came on to get a strikeout and double-play grounder to end the game. Brown had two hits and four RBIs for Post188, and Hill had two hits and three RBIs. Jimmy Souza had added a pair of hits for the victors, and Stanton had an RBI single. Anthony Glynn homered for Whitman, while Greg Donahue contributed with a 2-run double. Chris Adams had two hits while Jake Ruoff struck out seven in the loss.
Norwell 4, Middleboro 3:

Dragan Stamenkovic went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, a triple and a home run for Barnstable Post 12-6, which lost to Pembroke Post 143. Alex Pernick and Everett Walsh each had hits for Barnstable.Keegan Dellacona struck out four in 4 2/3 strong innings of relief but took the loss. Nik Atsalis made an incredible catch in center field, diving into the base of the wall to save a run.
Duxbury 5, Rockland 3;
Billy Hocking pitched 5 innings of 1 hit baseball in relief for the win. Tyler Genereux was 3-3 with 3 runs scored. Tommy Guilfoyle had a clutch RBI single bor Duxbury.
Sandwich 9, Plymouth 4;
Jimmy Souza went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs as Sandwich Post 188 stayed undefeated in American Legion baseball play with a 9-4 victory over Plymouth Post 40 last night. Souza doubled in a run in the second, tripled in a run in the fourth and scored when the throw to third went into the outfield. Souza also doubled in a run in the seventh for Sandwich (5-0).Joe Perry also went 4-for-4 with an RBI single in the seventh, while Al Stanton was 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the seventh and Dustin Brown had two hits, including an RBI single in the first. David Kent allowed five consecutive hits and three runs in the first inning, but held Plymouth hitless through the fifth inning. Nick Croft pitched two innings of scoreless relief.
