12 MAR 2006 TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS THUS FAR...

There have been many talking points since the nets started back in October(Barely a month after most teams had stopped playing in the previous season!!!). When Trav wasn't performing gymnastics to avoid the ball, Sam was spreading dog faeces around the sportshall. This we could have coped with, had he not maintained it wasn't him until half way through the session, when things started to get a little warm and the smell becoming unbearable. Injuries have been frequent with firstly, strike bowler and vice-captain Big Joe, becoming frustrated after failing to maintain a decent line and length and decided to take his anger out on a bin. A small, plastic bin. Yeah, that's right, the sort your mum buys from poundland. Result? A broken foot and a new bin. However, after having a pot put on he returned to action the following Monday. Now, that's commitment! That wasn't the only hospital visit. Middle order batsman Oli, grew overconfident and decided to advance down the wicket to leprechaun sized Lee Marper and edge the ball onto his eyebrow leaving him with a cut which made him look like he had just done a round with Ricky Hatton.

11 MAR 2006 UPDATE ON TRAV

After numerous practice nets and several days watching the Ashes DVDs, developing young Trav's cricketing skills is slow progress. Recent injuries such as being hit in the middle of the back and on the forearm have knocked his confidence but he remains committed as ever. Both these injuries suggest batting mistakes, but the forearm injury is a result of having a casual chat at the back of the sportshall instead of bowling. After coaching tips from every team member, Trav has developed a new evasive batting technique to leg-side deliveries.. if in doubt, jump over the ball!!! Not from the Michael Vaughan school of coaching, some might say.

08 MAR 2006 COUNTDOWN TO KICK-OFF

With just eight nets remaining, the fixtures for the upcoming season have been released with some minor team matters still needing to be finalised. For example, a wicketkeeper has yet to be officially announced with both Williamson brothers jostling for the position as well as most recent team member Matt Scotter staking a claim after an impressive display in Monday's net practice. Weeks of negotiation have proved unfruitful as the team has yet to finalise a sponsorship deal, with backroom staff working frantically behind the scenes to discover some urgently needed funds.

05 AUG 2005 TRAINING BEGINS ON YOUNG TRAV...

The new batsman Travis today began his intense training regime to prepare him for the season ahead in march, spending good money on a new GM bat today he was put through a stressful time at the crease as a full days batting showed hardwork on the newcomer. Training is showing vast improvment in his shotmaking and there is great anticipation for the season ahead
