El Diario de Daniela is a story, seen through the eyes of Daniela Monroy, an adorable 10-year-old who records all of her dreams, hopes and sorrows in her secret diary. Danielas father, Enrique, owns a local theater which serves as a meeting place for most of the cast, including Danielas friends, her family and the theater employees. The Monroy family lives a happy life and enjoys the success of the theater until Elena, a salacious theater employee, decides to seduce Enrique and make him her own. The story begins when childhood friends Valentina, Montserrat and Helena leave their small town and move to Mexico City to audition for Clap, a prestigious arts school run by Ofelia, a famous actress who is now retired.
With the girls is Tomas, Montserrat's brother. The group soon meets Juan Pablo, who directs the choir at Santa Cecilia Church. He lives with Padre Constantino, a lovable old priest who took him in as a child after Pablo was abandoned at the church.
To earn tuition, the kids take a house that belongs to Valentina's grandfather and turn it into a dorm, renting rooms to classmates.
