The majority of posession of the game was controled by the martians but still allowed opportunities on their own end. The final 5 minutes was dominated by the Goodrich Offense and many quality opportunities surfaced, but none finished. Great excitement for teh season opener in front of the home crowd.

8/27 @ Saginaw Nouvel

Final Win 4-2

Andrew Patrick (Goal), Kevin Hergenreder (Asst) - Andrew played the ball ahead to Kevin and made the run toward the back side and Kevin chipped tha ball back across to him. Running across the top the 18 yard box and nearly turnign hs back to the net, Patty turns and rips on the first touch and goes across the keepers front to bury the ball in the back post.

Colin Angle (Goal), David Garr (Asst) - Up the right touchline David Garr laid the ball comfortably on teh carpet to Colin making the "Angle'd' run through. Colin finished for goal #2.

Nick Arnold (Goal), Alex Arnold (Asst) - The eventual game winner was started in the back with Alex Chambers sending the ball out side to Matt Palm on the left. Palm serves a great ball in dangerous scoring position and the slight touch of Alex Arnold who laid off the ball to Big Brother Nick who is there to strike and finish for the third Martian goal.

Matt Palm (Goal), Bobby Short (Asst) - Nicely played ona through ball, Matt Palm got on his horse and made the run toward the net. Gave a chance with the running toe ball and beat the keeper to the back of the net.

After a quick 0-1 drought, the Martians evened the score 1-1 to head into halftime. With their continous fresh legs, the Martians ran the defense of the Panther til they could no longer keep up. Before 10 minutes had past into the second half, the Martians went up 3-1 with a couple solid plays. A slight let down and the home team brought the game within one goal until late in the contest and the Martians secured thier lead going up 4-2. First game on the road and a very big Win for the Martians.

8/28 Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers

Final 6-0 - Goodrich Wins.

Colin Angle (Goal), David Garr (asst) - Nearly 6 minutes  Bobby short knocked a ball to the width and David Garr played a solid ball into the feet of Colin Angle. Colin Collected and buried the Game Winner.

Matt Palm (Goal), Kevin Hergenreder (Asst) - 11:30 into the contest, Kevin H played the ball to Matt Palm on the outside left. Palm got a head of steam and headed for the front post. In true form, he secured a shot upstairs at the near post to give the Martians a 2-0 lead.

David Garr (Goal) - Two and a half past the halfway mark, David Garr blasted what could be the seasons finest goal. Near the outside corner of the 18 yard box on teh right side of the Martians offensive third, David struck a bullet to the near post upper 90 that gave Goodrich their first highlight on Channel 12 News @ 6.

David Garr (Goal) - Winning the ball in the same location just 6 minutes later, David got free of defenders just enough to rip a shot on net. But on net does not do it justice, it was on face, literally. The goalkeeper attepmting a text book save, kept his eye on the ball as it passed his gloves and hit him in the side of the face and landed in the back of the net.

Andrew Patrick (Goal), Alex Arnold (Asst) - From a set piece and rushing teh pace of play, alex arnold quickly reset the ball for a foul commited in the Martians favor and served a ball from the right and put it to teh P.K. spot. Andrew "Patty" Patrick got some mad hops to get his head firmly on the ball and redirect it to the back post side netting. An outstanding combo to add the 5th goal of the game.

Richie Kepsel (Goal) - Driving down the right side of midfield, just outside the 18 yard box, Richie gave the ball a touch of finesse and chipped the anxious Goal Keeper.  The Martians held to the 6-0 victory with 17 minutes left to play.

A 4:30 pm start to a game that would prove to be one sided. Aggressive from the start against a team that was in the Regional Final contest in the post season of 2006. At 6 and 12 minutes into the contest Goodrich struck confidence by scoring and gained the possession for the contest. With a narrow 2-0 halftime lead, there was no chance that the Lakers would give up. But within 10 mintues of the second half of play, David Garr tallied two goals to win the second half momentum. It was a great game to watch and to be a part of. Every player off the Goodrich side got many minutes of playing time and the level of play stayed high throughout. Great contest and level of play.

8/30 Richmond

Final 0-3

A very quick start to the game and a rapid pace throughout showed the Martians what it takes to win post season games. A final score of 3-0 which was not dictated by the quality of each player and their skills but the overall work rate and work ethic of the entire squad.  Every member of the Richmond side woking as one and working hard. Both sides played very well but Richmond outworked the home team to remain undefeated.

9/4 Mt. Morris - Conference Opener

Final 8-0. Goodrich Wins.

Brandon DeGrouchy (Goal), Kevin Hergenreder (Ast) - Great work between these two players as Kevin controlled the ball and flicked it through defenders into the stride of Brandon whom lite a shot into the back of the net.

Colin Angle (Goal), Alex Arnold (Ast) - A top the 18 yard box just off center on the right side, Alex A. got a clear look for a shot and took it. With the ball headed on a slightly wide path, Colin changed the course of the ball to direct it back across the keepers front and into the back of the net.

Colin Angle (Goal), Alex Chambers (Ast) - From a set corner kick with Colin posted up on the near side, Alex C. served teh ball that had an eye for the net. The ball was knocked down in the 6 yard box and Colin was in position to finish and add the third goal for the first half.

Bobby Short (Goal), Colin Angle (Ast), Brandon DeGrouchy (Ast) - Colin gains possession and drives baseline making the goalkeeper commit to the near post and laid a sweet ball to the top of the 6 yard box. Brandon on the move wisely took pace off the ball and left it for Bobby whom had a better scoring opportunity and proved it to open the second half scoring.

David Garr (Goal), Alex Arnold (Ast) - Alex A. played the ball to the width and David secured possession. David crossed hoping for the best, and it happened. An unorthodox bounce and it all counts the same. He beat the keeper with a homefield hop.

Andrew Patrick (Goal), Bobby Short (Ast) - (I had my back turned)

Alex Arnold (Goal), Austin Douglas (Ast) - Bringing the ball out of pressure in the corner, Austin dished to Alex A in the middle. A few touches across the top of teh 18 yard box and Alex let it fly. A rocket flew off his boot and landed hot in the net.

Danny Leppek (Goal) - With 10 minutes remaining on the clock, from the outside midfield, Danny fired a cross into the box that was headed for the danger zone. But the Mt. Morris defneder got a body part on the ball and redirected it into the net for a game finisher.

A highly talented aresenal that was poorly executed for at least 1/2 the contest. A mindset that the game was over before it started that lead to an opportuinty to put the Martians down a goal less than a minute into regualtion. But then the group calmed a little to get some work done. Sloppy, but done. Once the shots found netting, the team calmed a bit, but it was not the most soothing atmosphere as there were 11 players for the martians playing as 11 seperate players. Once the second half began, the 11 players began as a unit and were not selfish with the ball . It created better opportunities and more confidence. A solid ending to the teams conference opener.

9/6 @ Lakeville

Final 5-1 Goodrich Wins

Brandon DeGrouchy (Goal), Alex Chambers (Asst) - Ball played ahead to the offense by Alex C and it takes a deflection that finds the charging Brandon who puts a hurtin on the ball. just 6:45 into the game, Goodrich up 1-0.

Andrew Partick (Goal), Brandon DeGrouchy (Asst) - Driving baseline on his mark, Brandon get inside the 18 yard box and rips the ball atop the 6 yard box where Andy was crashing ball side of the keeper and David Garr was securing the far side of the net. Patrick stepped in and finished to tally #2 with just 13:28 expired in the contest.

Brandon DeGrouchy (Goal), David Garr (Asst) - 15:59 into the game and a foul in teh danger zone awarded to the visiting Martians. David quickly set the ball and got the whisper from A.A. David served the Dime to Brandon and was not given change but rather given the assist. Brandon buried that shot to give a 3-0 lead.

Brandon DeGrouchy (Goal), Anderw Partick (Asst) - A solid challenge for the ball with the goalkeeper and Patty made him cough it up. Brandon, in position, crashed his left post where the ball found him and he completed his hat trick.

Richie Kepsel (Goal), Colin Angle (Asst) - Gaining and holding possession down the right side and into the corner, Colin fires a cross that finds Richie for the finish with just 1:27 left to play.

Goodrich started the game with pace and held the possession. When the home team had the ball, all they did was drive it ahead down the field and hope for the best. Once the width was decided and used, the Martians began to pick apart the Falcons. Four of the Five goals that were produced by Goodrich were by using the width and then attacking. It is a proven system that is hard to deny. However, Lakeville did do a nice job packing the box and leaving little opportunity for shots once they have slowed the attack. The patience for the Martians would have been the piece that produced more scoring opportunities. Overall a good game and a strong victory to continue with a 4-1-1 record overall and a 2-0 start in the GAC.

9/11 Lake Fenton

Final - Goodrich Win 8-0

Nick Arnold (Goal ), David Garr (Asst) - With just under 10 minutes played in the contest, a ball was sent to the width by Alex Chambers and running onto it was David Garr on the right side of midfield. The Penetration pass to get the Martians into a scoring position. David then laid the ball inside to Nick Arnold . After a punishing shot that the goalie could not handle, Nick gave it another attempt and finished the rebound with dynamic persuit. The ultimate game winner but also to be considered the 'ice breaker.'

Brandon DeGrouchy (Goal) - From his own words, Brandon admitted "When I hit that cross, all I was thinking was how terrible it was." But before he turned away the goalkeeper had begun to make an attempt at the ball. From 4 stories high, the ball gained a bit of momentum on the down turn and was headed for the net. Through the keepers hands and into the net. Goodrich leads 2-0.

Ryan Eskuri (Goal), David Garr (Ast) - On a corner kick from David Garr, a Lake Fenton defender got some hair on the ball but not enough to deflect it from its path. Ryan Eskuri atop the 18 yard box had enough time to bake a cake, but the shot he took needed to frosting - IT WAS SWEET ENOUGH. With his right foot as it bent away from teh keeper to the right side netting through traffic... He was not messing around and buried a nasty goal for a 3-0 lead.

Colin Angle (Goal), Nick Arnold (Ast) - Pressuring the ball deep into Lake Fenton's defesive end of the field, Nick Arnold got them to cough up the ball and made a great effort to get the ball out in front for Colin Angle. Over anticipating and having to back track just a couple steps, Colin turned on the ball and sent a hard shot to the opposite side without having much of a window.

Nick Arnold (Goal), Alex Arnold (Ast) - From the right side a top the 18 yard box, Alex Arnold makes it look simple and dropped a pass over multiple defenders to the P.K. spot where his brother Nick Arnold had made teh run. Under pressure Nick gathered and ripped, adding another goal within a minute of the previous goal. The Arnold Combo strikes again!

Matt Palm (Goal), Austin Douglas (Ast) - Following an injury, Goodrich was granted an indirect free kick that was just to right on their offensive side of  half line. Austin Douglas takes the set piece and drives a nice ball to the backside of the net outside the 6 yard box. Matt Palm on the move, adds the second touch to make it LEGIT and buries the header across the face of the goalkeeper and into the back of teh net on the opposite side.

Caleb Jones (Goal), Luke Harrison (Ast) - The throw in from Luke Harrison advanced Caleb Jones up the center of the field. After dribbling to his right, Caleb cuts inside to his left and drives a low hard shot to the back post. The keeper reacted but did not get enough on the shot that came from the outside of Caleb's right foot and bent it into the side netting on the back post. Five minutes after half time and the Martians are up 7-0.

Danny Leppek (Goal), Richie Kepsel (Ast) - After completly wearing down all second half hopes that the visiting Blue Devils had, the Martians again in range of a scoring opportunity. Multiple passes strung together to get the ball down inside the 18 yard box and all the players attempting to set up one another, Richie Kepsel had fed the ball inside to Danny Leppek. Beating one and taking the shot, Danny beats the keeper for the last time on the day and for the second game ending goal for him this season. The Martians end the contest with 28:51 remaining on the clock in the second half.

The first day of the season that felt like fall and the teams went through their normal routine. Get some touches on the ball and get stretched out. They prepare mentally for the game and to get the job done. They got their tactical assignments and their motivational speech. But the one thing they had not planned on was Mother Nature adding her influence into the mix. A bit of rain fell for the first 5 minutes of the contest giving the grass and the ball a different feel than it had in the warm-up. A team anticipating a quick pass was surprised by the change in field condition. But after they settled, they brought the thunder. 10 minutes into the contest they broke the 0-0 tie and never looked back. It seemed as if the 10 minutes was too long to wait, because once the 'broke the ice' only the Blue Devils were falling into the cold water. Opportunities continued to present themselves and the Martians continued to punish the visiting Blue Devils from Lake Fenton. Scoring again at 18:30 and 20 minutes into the contest. The wind that was in the sail of Lake Fenton was quickly deflating. At 25 and 26 minutes into the contest, the Martians struck again. And there was not much that Lake Fenton could do as the Martians were a unit that was firing on que. With 5 minutes to go before the halftime break, Goodrich tallied yet another goal to go to the break with a 6-0 lead. There was no longer a need for coaching or stearing the team in the right direction. The course was very easy to see and the team was going full throttle. Five minutes after teh break, Goodrich struck again and then 11:10 into the second half the game of complete domination had ended. It was not a matter of beating a team dirty or fast, it was just a matter of beating them at everything. The motivation for every player on the Martian Side was at its peak.

9/13 Durand

Final Goodrich wins 7-1

Austin Douglas (Goal) - A foul granted to the Martians with 17:16 remaining on the clock in the first half. Austin Douglas addresses the ball and debates which option he should attempt to play. With his desicion, he fires to the back post and gives the ball a little hometown love and bends it into the backside side netting. This evens the score at 1-1.

Chase Bertrand (Goal) - A shot fired on net and the goalkeeper and defenders on the Railroaders side fail their attempt to collect and clear the ball out of harms way. With 15:17 remaining in the first half, Chase finds the net and secures the lead for the Martians.

Brandon DeGrouchy (Goal), Alex Arnold (Ast) - On the ball after a foul, Alex quickly restarts play and switches fields to catch them unprepared for the restart. Brandon in his comfort zone gathers and rips quickly. The Goal Keeper gets to it but coughs it back to Brandon. With a second try he makes it look pretty. Upstairs on the near post with a rocket shot from just outside the 6 yard box. The Martians enter halftime with a 3-1 lead.

Andrew Patrick (Goal) - Bobby Short hits a shot low and to the corner, but the Durand Keeper smothers the ball. At least he thought he smothered it... Andrew "patty" was in a great position to test the fire to see if it was truly 'smothered'. Patty cleans it up and adds the first goal of the second half with 22:46 on the clock.

Colin Angle (Goal), Austin Douglas (Ast) - Corner kick from our offensive left side. Austin delivers the ball to the near post and Colin in perfect fashion, redirects with the flick on and the ball reaches the backside side netting. Beautiful piece that was executed to perfection. 13:16 remain in the contest and the Martians lead 5-1.

Matt Palm (Goal), (Andrew Patrick (Ast), Alex Chambers (Ast) - With 5:56 on the clock, it was a set of combinatins that put Matt Palm in behind the defense. With a ball played forward from Alex C. and then sent behind the outside defense by Patty, Matt Palm on the move gets in behind and gets his shot. Blown past the goal keeper, Matt chalks up the credit and adds goal number 6 on the day for the hometeam.

Kevin Hergenreder (Goal), Alex Chambers (Ast) - The mad bomber, Alex Chambers sets to take the corner kick and calls the play. Kevin in perfect position gets up and gets a great hit on the ball. Buries the header in the net to finish off the Martians scoring on the afternoon with just 3:50 remaining.

A very slow start to the competition from the Martians but completely the opposite from the visiting Railroaders from Durand. They were coming off a tough loss and wanted to prove they were better than the standings said. Just :44 seconds into the contest, they had built an attack and found feet at the PK spot and totally unmarked. Desperate to stop the simple shot, the Martians collapsed onto him and gave up the Penalty Opportunity. They capitalized and were up 1-0 but that is the last time they would score for the day. The Martians were still outside of their element and not playing strong together. But this group of young men is not made of individuals, but rather is built as a TEAM. The reserves took the field and went to work scoring twice and taking the lead. The strength in numbers is what added to the quality for Goodrich. With a complete line change, the Martians are a strong side and can be dominatant with multiple lineups and formations. Very very slow to start and then the pace that the Martians can provide was shown and the Railroaders ran out of steam. All of the goals scored by Goodrich were in the later minutes of both halves. Run them ragged and then run up the score. Once the pressure from Goodrich came, Durand just colapsed and packed the box. Opportunities continued to present themselves and the Martians capitalized. Good Finish Boys!

9/18 @ Montrose

Final Goodrich wins 3-0

Bobby Short (Goal) - A shot on net that left a rebound for the attacking Martians side and Bobby left no question and finished for the opening goal just under 2 minutes into the game.

Bobby Short (Goal), Alex Chambers (Ast) - Corner kick set up beautifully by Alex Chambers. A hard driven ball to the back side of the net and Bobby got up and got a solid hit with his head and buried the ball for his second on the day.

David Garr (Goal), Colin Angle (Ast), Bobby Short (Ast) - The ball sent up field from our defensive third and Bobby got a easy flick touch on it and sent it ahead to the running Colin Angle. As he beat teh last defender on the run he had only the keeper to beat and as he got past him he lost his footing and DGarr was following up on the other side and made it to the ball just before the retreating defender of Montrose to get the final goal of the first half and of the game.

Montrose is not a strong side as individuals, but certainly has a lot of heart and a lot of hustle as a team. Their Goalkeeper is the factor that keeps them in games. He was on fire and made several saves that seemed to be guaranteed goals. But they also played with an Actor up top that continued to get calls from the referee. Unfortunate that the player has to admit he is flopping to the opposing side after multiple players got carded for his Grammy perfromances. The Martians scored three in the first half and then held onto that score for the remainder of the contest. The visiting Martians continued to pressure the hometeam but could not capitalize through the second half.

9/19 Orchard Lake St. Mary Prep

Final Goodrich Wins 9-1

Bobby Short (Goal), Alex Chambers (Ast) - 36 Iso with three one-touch passes and a one-touch finish from the right side of the 18 to beat the keeper to the back post. Excellent execution. :09 seconds had run from the clock and could be a record in the making.

Nick Arnold (Goal) - Challenging the defender and winning the ball from 25 yards out, Nick Arnold beats the defender with a couple touches but only needs one more to beat the goalkeeper. 9:09 into the contest with a 3-0 lead.

Andrew Patrick (Goal) - Ryan Eskuri played teh ball ahead and to the outside for Kevin Hergenreder. Possesing teh ball and attempting to make a play, Kevin had the ball poked away but Patty had made the run and the defender played him the ball. Keeping hte ball on teh legal side of the end line, Patty attacks the near post and draws teh keeper away and drills the shot back to the near post.

Nick Arnold (Goal), Colin Angle (Ast) - Great combos all day by the selfless plays of these two and it generates a goal. Colin draws the defenders and plays the ball back across to Nick on the run. Nick finishes with 19:06 left in the first half.

Bobby Short (Goal), Matt Palm (Ast) - From the left side of the offensive end, Palm cuts back and sends the flighted ball back to the middle and into the personal space of Bobby. Off teh chest to set up the side volley, Bobby nailed it and made it look easy. The Martians are up 6-1 to head in at halftime.

Brandon DeGrouchy (Goal), Bobby Short (Ast) - Atop the 18 yard box on the right side Bobby crosses the ball into the path of Brand DeGrouchy.  Under control and confident, Degro finishes.

Chase Bertrand (Goal) - P.K. to finish the game. Final 9-1 with 20:47 remaining.

Great game played by the Martians as they came out strong and fast to outwork the visiting St. Mary's Prep. It was a fun game to watch from the opening seconds until it was concluded with 20:47 to play. Nearly a perfect game played by all the Martians that participated. Great Work!

9/25 @ Mt. Morris

Final - Goodrich Wins 8-0

Colin Angle (Goal) - 10 minutes in and just before the subbing opportunity, Colin goes baseline and fires the ball into the 6 - and finds non other than a worthy Panther of Mt. Morris to hit the eventual game winner. Own goal off of a solid cross.

Danny Leppek (Goal), Andrew Patrick (Ast) - Again Kevin is getting on the ball and got it back to chase in the middle of midfield. Chase plays ahead to Andy Patrick. Patty plays the ball through in the path of Danny Leppek. Driving a shot across the face of the goal to the back post, Danny got the sweet sound of the far post and capitalized on a nice set of passes from the Martian side.

Bobby Short (Goal), Colin Angle (Ast) - Colin angle drives baseline, and turns the corner and drives another ball into the 6 yard box headed for Bobby Short. The Goalkeeper comes out to make the play and mishandles the ball and it gets to Bobby and he finishes.

Colin Angle (Goal), Bobby Short (Ast) - Colin Angle again on the right side attacking the Panthers net, Plays a nice give and go with Bobby Short. Colin got the ball back just atop the 6 and beat the keeper from close range.

Nick Arnold (Goal), Bobby Short (Ast), David Garr (Ast) - With the ball on the width, David fires the ball back to the Center and Bobby collects and quickly plays ahead to Nick Arnold. Without fear, Nick drives it home and gives Goodrich a 7-0 lead after only 9 minutes past into the second half.

Danny Leppek (Goal), Chase Bertrand (Ast) - Chase carries the possession into the attaacking area and serves a great ball into the path of Danny "THE FINISHER" Leppek. Another great scoring opportunity that was executed and finished by the Martians.

A slow and slightly sloppy start to the contest that would continue to be completely one sided. The Martians controling and moving the direction that they wanted to throughtout. The second half was much better as the ball movement and the execution was at a much higher level and it showed in the scorebook. After scoring just two goals in the first 35 minutes of the contest, the Martians dominated into the second half and score five goals within 15 mintues. (5 minutes of first half, 10 minutes into the second) - Nice looking performance and executed til the mercy score ended the contest.

Mike Iden (Goal) - P.K. - Seels the Deal.

A well played game from Goodrich. Complete control and just out played the Falcons to add the 7th win in the GAC. A fun game to watch and be a part of! Good Work Fellas and keep up the hard work.

10/2 @ Lake Fenton

Final Goodrich Wins 3-0

Bobby Short (Goal), David Garr (Ast) - On a corner kick from David Garr, the Blue Devils had failed to get to the ball in flight. Bobby on the other end of the set piece finished for the Game winner and give the Martians the goal advantage just 11:40 into the contest.

Kevin Hergenreder (Goal), Alex Arnold (Ast) - Alex fed the ball ahead nicely for Kevin to run onto. Kevin Finished to open teh scoring in the second half.

David Garr (Goal), Kevin Hergenreder (Ast) - Kevin beat one down the left side and headed toward the Blue Devils goal and drew the pressure. Kevin then played a great ball right atop the 6 yard box for a crashing David Garr to Finish.

Lake Fenton changed the formation and that was the story of the day. They packed the box and played a smart defensive scheme against the hard charging Martians of G-town. It was a difficult game for Goodrich as it was not what was expected, but on the flip, the Blue Devils were not offensively threatening. Godrich handled the transition game very well and needed some patience on offense but still secured the GAC with a win. 8-0 in GAC and 11-1-1 Overall.

10/4 @ Durand

Final Goodrich Wins 5-0

David Garr (Goal), Alex Arnold (Ast) - Control around the offensive third of the field, Alex played the ball into David's feet. With pressure on his back, David did not turn immediately but held the ball before creating seperation and turning with a great shot to the back post.

David Garr (Goal), Chad Frownfelter (Ast) - A new position for C-Frown, as he was put into the line-up as a forward. Getting the ball close to the Railroaders goal, Chad fired the ball toward the backpost and it got caught in traffic before David Garr got a boot on it to bury the games 4th and his 2nd on the evening.

Chad Frownfelter (Goal), Brandon DeGrouchy (Ast) - Barreling down the left side, Brandon played a solid ball toward the net. With the dew setting in goalkeeper did not get all of the ball, but our keeper did - Frownfelter got inside the halo and finished to get his first goal of the season to go with his assist on the day.

Under the lights and it brought out the competitors in the Martians. A solid game of patience, pace and control from start to finish. With a couple quick goals the Martians had more control and confidence to finish. Players got to be a bit chippy with one another and with the officials in charge. A nice feeling for the Martians to win on the field where the Districts are to be hosted.
