Ever since I was a little girl I have had trouble with my knees, they used to dislocate right out of their sockets which was very painfull as you can imagine. This caused me years and years of pain and broken wrists and arms. I was not diagnosed until I was 15 in ireland with a lose patella on my left knee for which I had a bone transplant. Years later I started to have even more dislocations with my right knee and 2 years ago I had a roux goldwaith procedure on my right knee, this is where the tendons are tied together and the kneecap is pulled up into place. Sadly the damage to my kneecap from all the dislocations has given me trauma induced osteoarthritis in both knees which at 44 has affected my mobility in many ways. Last feburary I had a unicompartmental kneecap replacement on my left knee for which i am receiving physio and its hard going but i am getting there, I am also on the waiting list to have the same done on my right knee. Its amazing how much you depend on your knees and how much you take them for granted and then when something goes wrong you really really are mentally and physically affected by it.
I have found two groups on the internet that have been a great help and comfort to me, its very helpfull to know that there are other people out there with similar problems to mine and who can relate to what I am going through.
