Mark's meeting did not start well when he was squeezed by the kings Lynn pair and fell. The chain was taken off his bike but the Ref did not put on the red lights to stop the race. This clearly should have been all four back. He then failed to score in his 2n'd race and then was taken out of heat 12 and put in heat 13 to replace Tom P Madson. Track Staff worked hard to get this meeting on as it wasn't perfect track conditions.

Suchanek was gifted the points as blue exceeded the two minutes and a replacement went off 15metres. After the long drive back home they had to ride against Stoke at Mildenhall. - The Fen Tigers arrived at Sheffield and kept the meeting close until heat 12, then two 5-1's for Sheffield sealed the victory for them and they won 52-38. Mark scored 4+1 from 4 rides (3,0,0,1*). Mark won heat 2 from the gate in a time of 61.7 so the night started well until problems with the bike (Carb) struck in his next two heats. In heat 12 Kyle pushed James c wide and that left room for him and Mark to take 2nd and 3rd place. The team tried really hard and if Mark hadn't had bike problems I am sure he would have scored more. In my opinon he should have replaced Suchanek in heat 14 as Suchanek had no points and was struggling where Mark likes Sheffield's track.

Mark Thompson Racing sponsored heat 8 in his memory as Shaun and Mark usually ride this heat together however Mark was moved to the no.6 race jacket but Shaun won the heat. He went out on the parade lap and the bike stopped again. Garry and Mark were working hard in the pits to try to solve the problem, which they found to be a coil so this was replaced and the bike was working again. Mark went on to score 14 points from 5 rides 2-3-3-3-3. Both Mark Baseby (Academy) and Nathan Irwin (Boston) also scored 14 points. They looked at all the riders and could not separate them by the race wins so they then looked at who had the fastest lap. - Mark rode tonight at the David Nix Memorial meeting at Kings Lynn. He scored 3-3-1-0-3=10 and also had the fastest time of the night 62.9 in heat 5. There were 3 riders on 10 points so Mark got through to the semi-final because he had more race wins. The semi final was stopped due to N. Irwin moving on the line. In the re-start Mark battled hard with D. Betson, both swapping places when Mark was pushed to the outside causing him to fall. Mark was excluded from the re-run. Speaking to Mark afterwards he stated that Betson did make contact and because of that he fell which lead to him being excluded. He did also let me know that he has injured his wrist in the fall.
- Mark replaced Benji Compton at Sheffield riding as their no.7. Mark scored 2+1 and had bad luck in his second race as he was winning but the engine blew up. He also fell in his last heat but is OK.

- Update on Mark- Betty emailed me to say that his knee and elbow are swollen and he is very sore. He has written off his bike which is not good but glad that Mark is ok.
- Mark and Andrew came 4th in the CL Pairs meeting at Scunthorpe yesterday. Mark won 3 of his 4 races scoring 12 points. Andrew added 11 points so they had 23 points and came second to Plymouth and qualified for the semi- finals. They were in semi-final 1 against the Scunthorpe B team- B.Compton and P.Cooper. Mark was pushed wide and hit the fence hard causing him to go over the fence. Mark has hurt his elbow and wrist, he was in a lot of pain and had it in a sling. I will update you when I receive more information. Andrew suffered bike problems in the re-run so it was a 7-0 to Scunthorpe. Mark was unable to ride in the consolation final so that left just Andrew to ride against the Plymouth pair, Andrew won but Plymouth got 5 points to our 4. Well done Mark and Andrew you both rode well and it was a shame it finished this way.
