It is hope in following months to bring you a site that hopefully you will find enjoyable and informative.and indeen more easily navigated. We are constantly researching for new articles to add. Ships have played an important role in the history of mankind and his civilization, They have made world wide exploration possible, they were at the origin of new nations such as the United States. They brought other empires and places within our reach. International trade was brought into being by ships of the various nations of the world. On some of our pages we will go into a great discription of a given ship, its role it has played, and also sections about the great ship builders and famous shipping lines.Wherever possible we will endeavour to give technical details to each ship mentioned. The most important element in any ship is the Length/ beam ratio. High ratios produce long ships which are fast but have less carrying capacity than ships of equal length but having a greater beam.We will through the pages presented here try and cover a wide range of subjects. But anyone who has a particular interest which we have not featured the either email us at the email address at the foot of this page or sign the guest book with your request. You will find we cover warships, The great liners of their day, Sailing packets you name it we try to cover it.The mechanical propulsion of any ship is of great antiquity,Originally manpower with oars, Paddles, Sails then with the dawn of the industrial revolution steam powered ship with giant engines to convert the steam into motive power.Read our section on the steam revolution, the sailing packets and after the packets. We feel sure that you will find something here that interests you. So now all that is left for us to say is welcome and after your visit please sign the guest book, as your support will encourage us to present more for your reading.and now:
