Marie A. Roy

Welcome To My World

 Hello,

My name is Marie Roy.  As you can see from these book titles I write contemporary romance fiction.  I've been writing for a number of years now.

I hope when you read through the blurbs and excerpt you will enjoy them enough to read the stories in their entirety.

I think you'll find as with most writers of romance fiction we write straight from the heart.  Stories that can touch the heart and lift the spirit.  And goodness know, we can certainly use some of that in these difficult times.

Ever since I can remember by picking up a book and becoming immerse within the story has always helped me weather some of the difficult times that can happen to anyone as we live their lives.

Widowhood struck me early, and quite unexpectedly.  Both A Soldier's Fortune and Stormbound present heroines who were both widowed early in life.  I actually wrote these stories before entering that stage myself.  Uncanny at best.  But I think both stories will relay the hope that life does go on in spite of the tragedies that we incur.  And that there is always a new horizon where we can look toward with hope.

Stormbound

Lacey Parker, widowed, single mother for the past five years no longer celebrates holidays at home.  One day  her ten-year-old son Zachary who protests this seemingly steadfast resolution asks his mother why not?  Lacey has no clear cut answer to give.  She simply prefers to be somewhere else during these times of family celebrations.

Dr. Michael Tanner, the attending physician at County Memorial’s ER is having doubts about staying in the medical profession, especially after losing a young girl’s life in his ER, and only a week later almost losing a young boy’s life.

Dr. Tanner and Lacey Parker become stranded inside an old farmhouse during a raging Nor’easter with some colorful characters.  Despite the potential for total destruction, life shows both that amid potential tragedies there still exists hope and a promise of good things to come.

No More Secrets, No More Lies.

Review from The Romance Studio

Sydney Morgan, single mother of a nine-year-old son, has tried for years to climb the corporate ladder. This was hampered when she left a near-perfect job after becoming pregnant with the boss’s baby; since he was about to marry another, she left without telling him. Ten years later, struggling on less salary, perks, and job satisfaction, she comes full circle and is assigned to work directly with the CEO from her past, Grant Sinclair. There will be no promotion, no raise, just more responsibility and a lot of one-on-one with Mr. Sinclair. Could things get worse?

The situation between Sydney and Grant was volatile. The circumstances were impossible to keep impersonal, especially with Grant determined to pick up where they had left off ten years ago. The passion was still explosive! When Grant decided he wanted her to work for him again, he made it impossible for her to remain at her present job. She decided to take a vacation and visit her parents (where her son, Brian) was spending the summer. What transpired while she was there is astonishing!

I absolutely loved this book; I could not put it down; each page was better than the last. Sydney and Grant were perfect for each other; he respected her opinion. He did not present a “glass ceiling” for his female employees. There was definitely room at “the top” for her. Sydney knew that, sooner or later, she would have to tell Grant about Brian. The more attention he gave her, the more she dreaded having to tell him that she had kept this secret for 10 years.

The author, Ms. Roy, allowed Sydney to have a strong personality and vast ability to do her job, but also permitted her to show her softer, more sensitive side. The more the two were together, the stronger the attraction. Grant was determined to renew the personal relationship as well as a working one; however, he did show a vulnerable side to his personality which endeared him to me, as well. The ending was unexpected, not predictable at all. I enthusiastically recommend this book!

Sydney Morgan gave up a lucrative career 10 years ago and ran as far as she could. Now a single mother with a physically challenged son, she never told anyone about the affair she had with her boss ... or who Brian's father is.

Grant Sinclair made mistakes in his personal life, but the biggest was letting Sydney get away. When her company takes on his company's IPO venture, he realizes that he never stopped loving her. He knows she's a single mom working in a job that doesn't pay much, so he's surprised when she doesn't jump at a job offer. When he finds out that he's Brian's father, Grant is determined to get back into her life.

Sydney is a strong character who knows she's made mistakes, but who wants more than anything to give her son a decent life. With a heroine readers will root for, a hero who is more than the sum of his handsome parts and a boy who is heart-tugging, Roy has crafted a tale that rings true.

A Soldier's Fortune

A GREAT SUMMER READ!

Finalist in Treble Heart Book Awards for Best in Contemporary

A SOLDIER’S FORTUNE (Award winning novel that will lift your spirits, warm your hearts, and help you understand.)

Lia Martin’s father Eliah Stewart summons her to Split Maple Ridge, Vermont, a place where years later still evokes memories of a dark love and an even darker betrayal. Knowing how his daughter feels about this place, Lia feels he would not have asked her to return unless for a good reason.

The name Eliah Stewart still grates hard against Sean McIntyre’s soul, reminding him of the painful humiliation he had once experienced on that unforgettable night. Years later he would tell others he felt safer fighting in Vietnam than in those Vermont backwoods.

When unforeseen circumstances throw Lia, Sean and Eliah together under one roof, despite the reopening of painful past emotional wounds, love still exists between Lia and Sean. But the question remains if this love will survive once all truths of what took place on that stormy summer night are exposed. CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

Reviews!

"Superb depth of character, heart-felt emotions, and a unique plot make

Marie A. Roy's A SOLDIER'S FORTUNE a wonderful reading experience. Few

authors know how to make a story come to life the way Marie A. Roy does."

This is a bitter sweet tale that reminds me of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series in some ways, instead of Grandma Mazur there is Eliah Stewart. The humor in the story helped to balance the seriousness that penetrated whenever the Vietnam aspect was brought to the fore. Marie A. Roy has written a story showing how love can come at any age. I see future romance novels with older hero heroines and I must say if they are all as good as A Soldier's Fortune they'll be enjoyed by readers of every age.
