Writing for children one story at a time.

Hi,

I'm Marcia B. I'm a wife, mother, daughter, teacher, and writer. How can I do all that and stay sane? Don't ask!

I have a wonderful husband who reads everything I write. He helps me revise and perfect my stories. He even does the dishes! What more can anyone ask for?

I have two very understanding sons. "Don't even bother talking to Mom. She's on the computer again!"  That would be my 17 year old. My 20 year old is on his own computer day and night.

I teach second grade during my day-time life. My students all love my stories and think I'm the best writer in the whole world. I love teaching!

Even my parents love my writing. Life is great!

So, what do I write?

Well, children's stories, of course!

My favorite ones are from my Detective Cat series.  These stories are mysteries written for our youngest readers. They revolve around beloved nursery rhymes and contain clues easy enough for five to seven year olds to solve. Here is an exerpt from D.C. and the Case of the Missing Silver:

   “I’ve been robbed!”
   “Calm down, madam.”
“How can I calm down? It’s gone! Can you help me or not?”
My partner Detective Cat, or D.C. as he likes to be called, sized up our new client. Although D.C. is quite large for a cat, Miss Diddle towered over him. She was angry. I knew we’d have to be careful.
I looked up. “Miss Diddle, can you tell us exactly what is missing?” I took out my note pad and pencil.

And the search is on! The clues are revealed as the nursery rhyme unfolds, until the case is ultimately solved.
