Ways to help

We are constantly in need of volunteers to give up their time to love care for and help our dogs. We welcome all volunteers although children need to be accompanied by an adult. However, please note, we are dedicated in our work and expect the same level of love and commitment from our volunteers.

We need home vetters all over the country to check potential homes and report back on suitability.  We only ask you to do within a 10 mile radius of your home, so please don’t be put of that we are based in Wales.  If you can help by doing a home vet for us, click here and complete the form so we can add you to our database.

We have fosterers throughout the UK and are always looking for more.  If you want to join the Many Tears team of fosterers or transporters please call Kevin on 01249 655323 or email him at kevin.manytears@sky.com for more information.  We would particularly like to hear from you if you can foster larger dogs.

We have a small shop on site where we can  put donated items to sell  for people adopting dogs.  New  items such as leads, collars, dog and cat bowls, beds and baskets.  Basically anything  new or nearly new, dog or cat related that we can put in the shop is appreciated.

Donations of money are always needed, for we can only help the animals if we can find the funds. We help as many as we can afford to but still have to turn down many.  So if you want to make a donation via PayPal, please click the icon below or send a cheque to Many Tears Animal Rescue, Cwmlogin House, Cefniethin, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire SA14 7HB.

Unwanted Foreign Currency

Another Way to Help Many Tears is to donate your unwanted

     Foreign Currency

Most of us bring back small amounts that we can't be bothered
to convert back to Sterling - so how about donating it to
Many Tears instead. Please send to:

Danny Westwood
9 Gallivan Close
Little Stoke
Bristol
BS34 6RW

Any notes are accepted but at present the only coin we can take
are Euros and those from Turkey and Cyprus.

Once we have enough of any currency we will convert back to
                    sterling for Many Tears.

So come on - please send - it does no good
                 sitting in a drawer.

Recycle scheme for Many Tears

We have set up an account with a recycling company to recycle your old used printer inkjet & laser cartridges (NOT Epson or Brother) and old mobile phones.   They will send you pre paid envelopes for you to post your ink cartridges (and mobile phones) to them - all the envelopes are bar coded and each one raises money for Many Tears Rescue.
      T
hey will even send large cardboard boxes to companies for collections rather than envelopes, these can be used for laser printer cartridges as well as inkjets and mobile phones. Again - all postage paid by the recycling centre.  So if your company is willing to recyle their cartridges and phones, please ask for a box to be delivered to your workplace.

You can phone or email the company with your details and they will send envelopes direct to you. You need to state you are recycling on behalf of  Many Tears Rescue - and your envelopes and/or boxes will then be logged for us.
Everytime you send in an envelope it has a section for you to fill in your details - so they automatically send you more envelopes for next time!

TOWELS & SHEETS

Glangwili Hospital sell bin liners full towels and sheets for £2.00 per bag.  These can no longer be used by the hospital but are very useful for the dogs at Many Tears - particularly the towels.  If you want to buy some of these bags for Many Tears please call the hospital on 01267 225151 and ask for Liz in the sewing room.  Alternatively you could contact your local hospital and see if they run a similar scheme.

Greeting Cards

One of our wonderful supporters, fund raiser and dog adopter, Deborah Balchin, has had a set of greeting cards printed for Many Tears at her own expense.  Her company specialises in "photos of yesteryear" on greetings cards and this wonderful set of 4 different cards (with envelopes) is available by contacting Deb on her email address Dcbalchin@aol.com.  Each card has details of Many Tears printed on the reverse and is blank inside for you to write your own message. Deb will deal with all orders and postage to purchasers.

The cards can be purchased at a cost of £1.50 each - or the complete set of 4 cards for £5.00
100% of the purchase price will go directly to Many Tears Animal Rescue.

This card has no wording
Wording will say Best Wishes

Everything comes to those who wait

Buy a Life

Perhaps you would like to help, but cannot take on a dog, or already have too many to take on another.  In this case, you may like to pay for a dog to be saved. Your money would pay for all necessary inoculations, the spaying or neutering of the dog and new lead and collar.

You would receive a picture of the dog you saved along with his or her history. Many people choose to do this as a present for a friend or family.  In the past, classes of schools, office workers, and various other groups of people have clubbed together and donated to the "buy a life" fund.  The cost to "Buy a Life" is £125, a lot of money, but very little to save a life!
We would need to know the name and address you would wish for your "Buy a Life" picture and information to be sent to, along with a cheque made payable to Many Tears Animal Rescue.

WRITE A LETTER

Up here in Wales there are a lot of stray and unwanted dogs in the pounds every day.  This is actually a fact all over the UK.  Rescues try to prevent these dogs dying when their times is up by taking them in and re-homing them.  This is a very hard job, especially with dog who bite always getting top billing by the press. The pounds and councils do not want to kill dogs, but strangely, and certainly the ones up here, do little to help. I am hoping you all could write a letter either to the Welsh Council or, your local council, and suggest:

  1. A very short questionnaire on the dog's social skills and temperament was completed by whoever hands the dog in - be it the finder or owner.
  2. The pound did the same while the dog was in their care.

I feel with more knowledge rescues would be more likely to take the rotties, staffs and those who act strangely in kennels who are always left behind.  The rescue would be able to add the notes from the pound to their own and the public would be keener to adopt a dog if they had some history.
Often dogs come to us from the pound have shown signs of aggression whilst in there.  We give them a chance and they turn out to be the sweetest dogs ever but were just freaked out by being taken in a van with no familiar faces etc. to a pound or sometimes by their owners and simply left there, These dogs are the ones we pick up because others have passed them by. If the finder or owner had answered a questionnaire and said the dog was affectionate and trusting, rescues would know the poor dog was just freaked because they were in the pound.
I am hoping you will all ask a council to help a little, as a resuce's job is already so hard. This has been asked in the past but ignored. Please write or email to all you can,  You are the voice of the voiceless so
if you care, please write letters to the councils and yes even the kennel club. Good luck, your luck will be the dogs luck too!
