HAPPY ENDINGS

Due to the huge amount of happy endings we receive we have have to remove the oldest ones as many people have trouble getting the page to load due to the volume of pictures!
For those of you who remember our dogs who have been the hardest to home or who have had medical problems to overcome before being rehomed - here are their stories/happy endings.

Never

Dear Sylvia and Many Tears Team
We just thought we would let you know how things are going with Never.
As you know she arrived a week ago and immediately let us know how keen she is to be loved and she snuggled up on the sofa. We have quickly learned that nothing edible can be left even close to within reach (and her reach is l-o-n-g).  During the first night she discovered the biscuit tin which we had thought to be out of reach.  The first three nights she cried and barked at being left so Steve went and gently stroked her till she dropped off to sleep; now she sleeps through.
On day three we let her off the lead; armed with pockets full of treats she immediately realised coming back to us was a good idea and every day since she has been perfectly behaved when out, running with other dogs and the children in the park having a lovely time. Seeing her run at full pelt just for the joy of it is a wonder to see (surely she should have been named bullet!). We still need a bit of training as she is still finding things to snaffle when our backs are turned.
Never is an absolute joy and has won our hearts entirely; all our friends are wooed by her and she is such a gentle lady around the children. Thank you for letting us adopt her; she is a beautiful dog and already we couldn't imagine life without her.
 Best wishes
 Susie and Steve Johnston

Tamara now called Matilda

Hello I thought you might like to know how I am getting on since Chris and Laila adopted me!
When I came to Many Tears I was very nervous and shy. I was so very thin and very scared. The journey to my new home was very long - 200 miles in fact and my new mummy sat in the back with me and stroked and hugged me all the way home. She knew I was scared as I wet myself with every loud noise or sudden movement.
When we got home, my daddy showed me the garden and made me a few little comfy beds - one in each room so I cold choose which one I felt safest in. I chose the one in the kitchen for the first night but now I go in whichever one is in the room that my mummy is in! I was a bit unsure about my new brother Harvey who looks a lot like me but I couldn't understand why he was always so happy jumping about and wagging his tail all the time - but now I am even happier than he is! I learnt how to wag my tail on the second day and it hasn't stopped going since!
Although I love my daddy, I am a mummy's girl and love giving her proper cuddles - that is, one paw on each shoulder and snuggles up to her face. She calls me a fussy devil but I think that's a good thing! When she comes home I go mental and run around as if I've not seen her for a year and my tail wags so fast that they are worried it might come off! Anyway, I could go on for hours about how happy I am now, I get on with Harvey really well and we share food, water, toys, cuddles and even beds (most of the time). For the first two weeks I enjoyed showing the cats who is boss (me!) but they have got the message now and so I am giving them a break and letting them back into the house! Although I was a bit dubious to start with, I love bounding in and out of the cat flap and am almost fully toilet trained with only the odd accident which is usually at night time.
The vet is pleased with my progress and I have put on enough weight to be healthy and my fur is growing back when I was bald. I am so happy so I would like to thank you all so much for having me and helping me find a family who love me.
Oh and my mummy and daddy have changed my name. I am no longer Tamara, I am Matilda - it means strength in battle and considering all I have been through my new family think it is very suitable - I kind of know that it is me when I am called - I seem to have a slight problem with hearing...I can hear perfectly well if it's dinner or walk time, but if it's bath time or someone's at the door so time to be in the kitchen then I can't hear that I'm being called at all! (wink wink).
 Lots of love Matilda

Randy now called Louie

Hello There
My new mum and dad have changed my name to Louie which I'm learning to come to all ready!  I have been at my new forever home for about two weeks now.  The minute I arrived I had a good sniff around and settled on the sofa .  It is my favourite place to sleep all day.
I have learnt the routine very quickly and join in the excitement of walk times and feeding times with my new friends who have given me lots of kisses and help to show me things like walking big and tall along the roads, to wait patiently when we cross them and the fun of sniffing in the fields too.
I have some pics to show me off as everyone thinks I'm a very handsome biy and very affectionate too.  My new friends are in them as well as we do every thing together .
I am having the best time of my life.
 Bye for now  Louie xx

Rummy now called Tess

Rummy is now called Tess and her coat is gleaming and shiny. She has put on a pound, but the vet thinks it is muscle rather than fat, as she has certainly trimmed up - not so in need of a Sports Bra as before!
Muffin, our Jack Russell adores her and they rag around and drive the cat mad - but only in fun. She buries her bone in the garden and guards it very carefully in case Muffin should find it.
We bought her a crate on the vet's suggestion, as we found she was chewing quite a few cushions and things - and she goes into it at night as good as gold - a security thing, no doubt, having been in one for so long. So  Muffin and Tess have their crates side by side at night, night time biscuits, lights out, and lots of chat about bones and the cat, no doubt!
We look at your website and would so love to take on another, but with two guinea pigs and 3 children under five, I think we have enough - but we will continue to spread the word about the wonderful work you do.
 Best wishes
 Liz Harvey and Kate Potts

Tasha

Just a few lines to thank you all for making it possible for us to adopt the beautiful Tasha. She has been with us for four weeks now and we can't imagine life without her. Tasha has made life easy for us as she has settled in very quickly and is so well behaved.
Everyone who meets Tasha falls in love with her as she is so loving and gentle. She is still recovering from her operation for a  ruptured cruciate ligament but everything is going well and she seems to be walking better each day. We are looking  forward to being able to take her on nice long walks where she will be able to run off lead.
We would like to thank Sarah and Malcolm for caring for Tasha after her operation, and for teaching her all about living in a home. We know it was very hard for them to let  her go but they have made three people very happy.
 Thanks again to everybody.
 Lynn, Ron and Jody

Trim

Please find attached photos of Trim on the beach this morning. She is an absolute dream, so loving, gentle, obedient and friendly to everyone she meets.  Thank you very much rescuing her. Keep up the good work.

Rizzle

ear Christine
A rather overdue update on how Rizzle is doing; we love her so much but think it is best if I hand straight over to her!

Dear “Foster Mummy”
Thank you so much for looking after me; you were so kind and taught me some of the things that I really needed to know.  I am very happy with my new family; they love me so much and Poppy and Lily are like puppy friends as we all roll around together and have lots of play times.  I think I settled in quite quickly and I know my Mum thinks it is quite funny because I did everything I could to avoid getting into my travel box (I have a new crate to sleep in and go into if I am feeling insecure but most of the time I lie around as close as I can get to the rest of the family)  I have tried very hard to be a clean and good girl (no-one ever tells me off when I have accidents and my upset tummy cleared up after about a week).  I go to take the girls to school and collect them for school every day and this is really exciting as I see lots of dogs (I miss my friends still), children, grown ups, prams, bicycles and cars.  My Mum says I mustn’t chase after things that whizz past me like cars and bikes (and people running) and she says you knew that I would do that.  Now to tell you about some really exciting things I have done; behind where we live is a great big pond and when I saw the water I jumped straight in to say hello to a duck – it was very funny because everyone gasped (I think they weren’t sure if I could swim or not) but of course I was fine, although rather green and wet.  I have also been to Mum’s allotment and been let off the lead; I loved it there so much and wouldn’t come when I was called because it was so exciting.  Last night I came down to the seaside but we have to wait until after lunch to go to the sea (I am very very excited).
I have also been to my first puppy training class and really showed off; everyone said I was beautiful (I get this quite a lot) and the trainer said I was a very clever girl (I practiced “sit, down, stay” and am learning that “okay” is my release command.  I even did some work with my Dad; I behave a bit strangely with him and always go into my cage when he comes close; I growl at him too but I know he still loves me.
I like the chickens in my family but they aren’t that friendly and sadly the 2 cats are still really scared of me; I do bark and whimper when I see them but you and I both know this is only because I want to make friends.
My Mum is attaching the first photo they took of me; Lily made me a lovely bed (I have eaten most of it now) and Mum thinks it is really funny because it  has “fragile” written on the side of the box.

Back to Mum now....
Christine, we really love Rizzle and I am full of admiration for the wonderful work you do.  We have caused a bit of a stir with some of Lily’s friends who now want a dog even more than ever so I am frantically distributing details of the Many Tears Rescue Centre in the hope that they will chooses to give a home to someone that really needs it.
I will forward some more photos soon and contact you with a view to visiting sometime in November if that is convenient with you.
Thank you again, Rose, John, Poppy, Lily & Rizzle

Basil

     \
Hi everyone at Many Tears!
We thought we would send you an update on Basil who we adopted in January this year.  We really cannot imagine life without him now as he goes everywhere with us - even to Italy on holiday which was great! We've discovered he loves pizza and ice-cream!!  To anyone thinking of adopting a rescue dog we can only say it's the best thing we've ever done. It takes a little time for the dog to adjust but the end result is soooo worth it. We now have the 5th member of our family who is such a character and we wouldn't part with for all the pizzas in Italy!!! He is one happy dog and we are one happy family!! Thank you so much and thank you to Carmen for all her continued help and advice.

Lily, Dolly & Rosie

Dear Sylvia and all at Many Tears
Here are some ‘Happy Endings’ pics of Little Nell (was Lily), Dolly and Rosie (Hollywood and Rhapsody). I thought I would get them in before we pick up Connie Scottie. The pleasure we have had watching our girls blossom, learn to run, bark, walk on leads, and enjoy their soft beds has been beyond measure. We have seen Rosie’s skin improve and her coat grow lustrous with careful bathing, aloe vera and evening primrose oil - although she is still the most nervous.
Dolly has gained weight and some muscle tone but she will never climb mountains. Little Nell has grown in confidence and although still underweight, shows all the signs of a tenacious terrier. A far cry from when she pooed on her foster mum when we met her (it was really windy and the labs were spooked too). I was proud of my big girls - they were impeccably behaved in meeting three Westies in a stranger’s home. They all travel well and after a few traumas, adapt fairly well to new surroundings.
We hear all the time, from friends and acquaintances, how lucky our girls are to have found their forever home but WE are the lucky ones to have the love and trust from used and abused dogs who have no reason to believe in human kindness.
Thank you, from the Priestley Pack

Jumble

Hi Kevin Liz and family,
It's nearly a year since we picked Jumble up and I'm glad to say she is doing really well.  She has recovered well from her leg surgery and is now back doing the thing she loves to do - go walking!!! She is so loving and will lay at your feet at night everybody she meets love her.
Take care Claire Mike Ben and Jumble.

Rhubarb

Hello to everyone at Many Tears
I've been so busy over the summer I've only just found time to write to you. Life in Manchester is very exciting - and I have made good friends with 'Gherkin' the cat, and we play 'chase' in the garden. To be honest, I'm the one that gets chased, so it is a good job I can run fast!
Beccy & Jo like taking me for walks, but when I was little I sometimes got a bit tired so Jo kindly carried me in her rucksack. It was just the right size for having a snooze. In August I went on something called a holiday - which was great 'cos we all went together on a narrow boat. I soon found my boating legs, but really enjoyed finding the best sunny spots to lie in (my favourite past-time!). I did lots of walking along the towpath, and helped out with the mooring ropes when needed.
Recently we went to the beach for the first time - I had a great time playing with my frisbee, and Jo taught me all about paddling, so that I could clean my paws. I have made lots of friends on the local park, and people always seem pleased to see me. Beccy & Jo say that I am doing really well with my training - I can sit, lie, wait, come by, fetch it, leave it, and take it. Apparently, I am going to something called puppy training classes from next week - don't know what all the fuss is about, think I will be teaching the other puppies a trick or two, but it will be fun to make even more new friends.
Have to go now - being called for a walk, yippee. Just want to say a big thank you to everyone at Many Tears, especially Ben, who gave me such a good start. My mummies think the work you all do is fab.
 Bye for now,
 Rhubarb xxx

CHERRY & SAMANTHA

Hello Folks,
Thought you might like to see a picture of Cherry and Sophie (Samantha), taken just a day after leaving Many Tears. Cherry was such a terrified little girl whose contact with humans before being brought to you must have been very minimal and unpleasant, but the long cuddle back to Surrey and the confidence given off by Sophie - who now has been with us for five weeks has helped her. She comes when called, is very busy running in and out of the garden, luckily the weather has been great and we can leave the kitchen door open - only one puddle, and that was when the door was closed.
The girls like to sleep in each others beds, or they will share a bed, but best of all they like to cuddle up to me on the sofa. I have never had Cav's before, but they really are the most lovable sensible little dogs. These two little ex-breeding bitches are an absolute delight, they never stop wagging their tails and are in competition to see who can give the most kisses.
Thank you all so much for the great job you do, I enjoy looking at the website and to see" being home vetted " against a dog - great!

Regards Wendy West.

Rhona

Hi Caroline and Sam,
Thought I'd write and let you know about my holiday. Wasn't sure what was going on at first, Bev & Chris made a bed in the back of the car and off we went. It was dark and I couldn't see anything so I decided to go to sleep. I woke up a few time's when they stopped for a coffee, I'd have a little tiddle and then go back to sleep. Chris woke me up just as it was getting light and took me and Spike for a walk at some place called Loch Lomond. It was raining a bit so I wasn't too keen but it was nice and warm when we got back into the car so I went back to sleep.
The next time I woke up it had stopped raining. So we went for a another walk. Bev and Chris made me stay on the lead for a few day but I made sure that I behaved myself and did as I was told, although I did keep purposely getting tangled up in my lead when I was trying to play with Spike. Eventually they started to let me off in the garden of the cottage and I went back every time they called me.
This is a picture of me at Coral Beach. There were so many new smells I really wanted to be able to have a bit of a run around and eventually they let me off the lead for a while.  I made sure that I went back every time that they called me and they kept saying how good I was. (I suppose that it was good and I'd have gone back anyway, but don't tell them or they might stop carrying sweets in their pockets!!).
The weather was quite good and there was only 1 day that it really stopped us getting out and about on walks. we just went out sightseeing in the car, well Spike, Bev and Chris did, I just had a kip on the back seat and woke up when we stopped anywhere.  Bev and Chris got all excited about seeing something called an Eagle, can't see what all the fuss is about it's just a big bird, I much prefer the smells like sheep poo and rabbit droppings.
Me and Spike have had a great holiday, I've had lots of people making a fuss of me and everyone has been saying how good I am. (can't wait till the next one) Hope the pictures are OK, (Bev's not too sure if she's done them right). Before I say goodnight I just wanted to say a great big thank you for looking after me until I found my forever home. I think that I was really lucky to be taken in by Many Tears and then especially lucky to be fostered by you both. It would have been nice to stay with you but I know that you had my best interests at heart and also that you want to help other dogs as well. I think that once I've got this pair trained up things here will work out just great.
Tell the rest of the gang that I do think of them as well.
Lots of kisses, Rhona.

Star

 Hi Sylvia
Just thought I’d write to let you know how Star is getting along. I visit the Weimaraner forum occasionally and noticed that a couple of the other Weimie’s you’ve rehomed this year have passed away. So, I thought you might like some good news.
Star’s gained a good deal of weight and is now a healthy 27.5 kgs. Though she’s always on the lookout for more food!  She is the star of our lives and is incredibly affectionate and gentle and loves nothing more than a good curl up with us on the floor or, when she’s really lucky, the sofa! She’s so obedient and was very easy to train – got all the basics now with great recall. In the house she’s really quiet and tranquil but outside she’s a crazy girl who loves to run and play and do loads of weimie zoomies. Her favourite thing is to chase swallows along the river or in the fields as they fly so low and circle constantly. I guess she thinks she’s going to catch one. Well, she is fast but not that fast. Though she did catch a young blackbird the other week. Don’t worry, all she wanted to do was play with it and had no intention of biting it let alone eating it
In short, she’s an ideal dog and has become, even in a short six months, such an integral part of our family that I can’t imagine life without her. Which made reading those new obituaries so difficult. I guess it brought home how lucky we are to have her in our lives.
Anyway, glad we found her through you.
 All the best
 Jon Sloan

Pickles

Just a short line to let you know how Pickles is getting on with us. She is such a lovely dog and gives my partner and I so much love and joy.  I have now trained her to walk without a lead and she will sit at the kerb with the command of what you do.  She will not cross the road until I tell her or call from the other side. Here are just a few photos  I hope you like them.  We would like to thank Many Tears for bringing Pickles into our lives.  Keep up the marvellous job that you are doing.

Olive now called Holly

Hi I just wanted to let everyone at Many Tears know that Holly (was Olive) the Westie is doing fine. We all love her to bits (Mitzie the cat doesn't but Holly would love to make friends with her). It has been quite a journey. Holly is very different to any other dog I've met, she didn't really know how to play when she came but now loves playing with my husband and gets a bit over excited. She follows me everywhere and loves a walk where she's as quiet as a mouse, in the house she's a bit barky with strangers. She seems to hate my father when he visits and won't stop barking at him but when I took her up his house we didn't hear her. I always said I wanted a dog with personality and I've certainly got one in Holly.
Yours Rachel, Chris, Zoe, Adele, Holly & Mitzie

Barney

Hi Tracey

      Barney
still loves his ball - if we go for a road walk he doesn't take it but if we drive to the forest or to the green then he knows he has his tennis ball to walk around with. He only has a tennis ball on a walk as he would rip it up at home so he has harder ones at home and a tennis ball when out.

I love it when sometimes you throw the ball a short way and he goes after it with a happy clumsy big loloppy run.  He can't manage too many of those but he is still young at heart even if the poor old body is a bit older - just like me.

His coat is really beautiful and as you know he loves being groomed.  As soon as he sees the brush he lies down and his old head goes over and he closes his eyes.  I think he would lie there all day being brushed if he could.

I know Barney is not much into beds but I bought him a nice huge thick sheepskin type pad that of course he didn't want to have anything to do with,  but for the last few mornings when I come downstairs I have found him lying on it and also in the day too.  Hopefully he is beginning to realise that a soft bed and a bit of comfort  is nicer than the hard floor.  There's never a ball or toy very far away from him 'though, its as if he desperately needs to have something with him for comfort at all times.  Goes back to his past I expect.

He really has bonded so well with us, especially me as I am with him all day.  He does follow me around quite a bit but is not obsessive about it.  My daughter reported yesterday that when I went shopping he sat by the front door for only a couple of minutes then went and  laid down next to her  with a big sigh - bless him.

I really can't believe how He and Tess ( our collie) get on so well together - so alls good.
 Will keep you informed.

 Caroline & Bxx

Tarka

What can I say, Tarka has been with me just six weeks and I absolutely love her to bits and I think the feeling is mutual.  She was house trained in a couple of days and is such an obedient dog.  She walks well on the lead and is a dream off the lead, friendly with all the dogs she meets and comes when called.  Never barks and doesn’t chew any thing she shouldn’t.  It is lovely to see her coming out of her shelf as she was a little repressed at first, but now she goes off out with her Auntie Angie down the farm Monday to Friday every afternoon whilst I am at work to meet up with her best mates Bo, Paufia and Jack to race around for 3 hours and have fun, comes back exhausted, ready for her tea and then spends the evening snoozing on her own settee.
She has such a lovely temperament and everyone who has met her falls in love with her.  She has been marvellous with my four cats since the first day and they are all quite happy now to sit together with me on the settee in the evenings for a cuddle having accepted her completely – a miracle!!!!.    I  never hoped that things would go this well and I just want to say a bit thank you for letting me be her new forever Mum.  You all do a fantastic job at Many Tears and have my total admiration for your dedication and hard work.
 With best wishes Anna Dyson

Treacle & Alfie

Hi Sylvia,
Just a quick update:
As you can see from the picture they are all a very happy doggy family although from time to time there can be a shortage of dog beds!! Treacle has come on wonderfully and is a much more confident dog now as is Indie. Alfie (Lurcher) is such an easy boy and really enjoying his Agility. Hope you like the attached pics.

Posy now called Rosy

Hiya Sylvia
Posy (now called Rosy) was our sixth foster and our first ex breeding dog. She was passed to me still in her crate as she was so frightened and when she came home it took 20 minutes just to coax her out but you should see her now.  She has been with us for 7 weeks and is the most loving, playful and happy dog you could meet.  (I have to thank Pickles my wonderful foster dog as she helped her become the dog she is now) and knew within seconds she was here to stay.
Rosy is fantastic with all my fosters and just wants to play as soon as she sees them.  She also loves her toys and her favourite are her teddies.  She will grab one and race around the garden with it (I did,nt know shih tzu's could run that fast!).  She has her forever brother Tego my Jack Russell and I'm sure she thinks she's one too.  We call her a JR in shih tzu clothing lol).  We lost our shih tzu Sally a year ago age 16 and never thought we could love another so dearly but Rosy came at the right time.  We grieved so much and didn't want to rush into taking another one until the time was right so we decided to foster until after our holiday then think about adopting.  Rosy was our first foster when we came home and our first shih tzu so I know  we were meant to be together.
Thank you for mending our broken hearts and thank you for giving these lovely dogs a second chance to find the loving homes they truly deserve.
Debs, Gar, Rosy, Tego and all of our fosters. xxxxxx

Jade now called Jelly

Hi Nicky and family and Kevin,
Just to let you know that gradually Jade now called Jelly is settling in.
She was obviously a bit disorientated at first and howled a lot of the night. She now sleeps a lot more at night but we have been getting up twice to let her out. Tonight though we are going to see if she’ll go through as she doesn’t always need to go and we are knackered! She has come into work with me today and is asleep in her cosy crate. She had a good run about and game this morning and generally annoyed my mum’s 11yr old retriever! She’s met many people and will meet some more children tonight and get lots of fuss.
She had her second vaccination on Tuesday so will have her first puppy training in two weeks rather than this weekend. John is getting a trainer over meantime though so we can all start off on the right track! She’s on dry pup food now and her tummy has settled down and she’s had the once over from the vet. She’s had a couple of baths and smells lovely! She’s still eating like a gannet.
Looking forward to being able to take her further a field in a couple of weeks time. Meanwhile I’ll send another update soon.
 All the best,
 Lise Cleary

Judo

I thought I would give you an update a week on from adopting Judo and I have attached some (not great as they were taken on my phone) photos of him settling into his new home.
Things are going very well and he seems to be enjoying his new routine of out and about at the farm and has fitted in very well. Judo is not quite horse 'savvy' yet so I have to keep a very close eye on him around the horses but he's not afraid of anything and bounds around next to Tegan (his big sister) and is interested in anything she does.
We went to our first puppy training class Tuesday night and he was a star pupil - we are going to do our Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Certificate, just to prove how good he is! Unfortunately Tegan wasn't quite as good as Judo in her class but I'm very glad we decided to take her too because she will get so much from it.  The woman who runs the training does summer agility classes too, so next year (once Judo is a year old) we can do that with him and Tegan, so that should be fun.
I've also been online this week to book the family summer holiday for next year to Scotland so Judo will get to see what the Scottish Highlands look like.  Judo has been exceptional in terms of house training so far, we had an accident or two Thursday, Friday, Saturday but since then - nothing! He settles very well at night in his crate beside the bed and asks to go out both in the crate and loose in the house now so I'm really pleased at how quickly he is understanding things.
In general he is just the most laid back and happy little puppy and it's great fun having him around as an extra family member.  I'd better go but I will keep in touch with updates as and when we have anything exciting to tell you!

Star

When I first met my mum at the nursing home it was all big and scary. Then my mum let me have quiet time in her office because every one wanted to fuss me!
It was time to meet my forever family; Mum says I was very good in the car. When I arrived at my new home I was greeted by four girls, 3 cats, 1 guinea pig and 3 fish.  I have settled in extremely well and I am spoilt rotten.
I am very clever and my family keep me busy.

EMO BOY

This is also to let you know Emo Boy is settling in beautifully!  He behaved so well in the car on the way home, he just laid down and seemed very resigned to whatever was going to happen next.  As soon as he came into the kitchen he had a look at the blanket that was there ready for him and the dog bowls, sniffed them to make sure they didn't smell of another dog, walked over to the doorway into the lounge and cocked his leg, and marked it as his! He had already had a couple of pees in the garden so this was obviously putting in his claim before another dog beat him to it. It was funny the way he did it!  He had a good investigate round and then picked up his food bowl, carried it into the lounge and hid it behind a chair. He was obviously very tired due to all the stress of his day and instead of going to sleep on his blanket, chose a spot in the lounge which was as far away from the front door as possible - he seemed to have decided he was not going back out it.
He slept for hours. My daughter, Rhonwen, arrived home at about 6 pm. and was an immediate hit with Emo Boy. He seemed to trust her straight away, probably helped by the fact he was used to young women at Many Tears.  We had a bit of a problem persuading him he should come outside in case he needed to pee, he had to be tempted with food. It was obvious he thought that if he went outside he would be going away again. Since the first time he has been fine going outside as he now knows he gets to come back in. He has been very clean going outside for all his "business" and even grooms his feet every time he returns to the house. He is such a smart dog - my partner Geoff took Emo Boy outside with him when he went out to have a cigarette and the next time he picked up his tobacco Emo Boy went and stood at the door ready to go out!
He seems to be thinking that it is nice that he is staying here for another day and perhaps he won't have to leave until tomorrow.  After meeting him originally on Saturday I thought that it might be a week or two before we got a tail wag, but we have been treated to them every time one of us has gone out of the room and then come back in again! He is so loving and affectionate, it has made us feel very humble seeing how little it has taken from us to have such an enormous response from him.
Many, many thanks to you for saving his life and giving us the privilege of having him as our dog.
 Regards,
 June

Pirate

We finally gave in and adopted our little man. We were fostering Pirate (now called Ollie!) and just fell in love with him. We still wanted to give others a chance to offer him a home but when it came down to it, we couldn't part with him. He's such an amazing little dog and me and my partner remind ourselves everyday about how lucky we are to have found such an awesome little dog. He's been really welcoming to the other foster dogs and loves teaching them all to play which is funny to watch and he's just excellent. When I've been upset when other foster dogs, who we've got attached to leave, Ollie's always there licking my tears away and it makes me smile to know he will never have to leave us and will be ours forever!!!! We look forward to all the years ahead and thank Many Tears for helping our little man otherwise we would never have found him!!
Love and Licks from Ollie to all the dogs still waiting for their happy endings!

Rhum and Rober now called Robbie

Dear Sylvia and all you lovely people and dogs at Many Tears,
This is the Happy Endings report for Robert (now called Robbie) .............. remember, that skeleton who used to chase and bite his tail??!
We've had Robbie for 5 weeks now and never regretted a second.  He and Rhum (adopted from you at the end of last March) are the best of buddies - as you can tell from the photo.  They play together with or without human imput, are perfect companions and learn from each other. They are a very good looking pair and turn heads when out, so we are very proud of them, their impeccable behaviour and lovely natures.
Robbie is putting on weight and turning into a very good looking collie; he is full of fun and, given the chance, would play all day except when he goes for his walks.  He has a lovely nature and was so gentle when playing with a 10 month old toddler on the kitchen floor. He now has a tail ............ well, it has hair and is no longer bitten!!!   It will, we believe, always be the shape of a piglet's tail, but it will have hair!!  He rarely chases his tail now.......... once he arrived here, he only chased it for a second out of frustration/excitement when Rhum got the ball before him every time.  Now that he is more interested in what's going on around him, the occasions of chasing are almost nonexistent.  Habit says that he will sometimes whirl round half a turn, but he no longer tries to catch or bite his tail.
He has been well behaved (as relative to an 8/9 month old puppy).  We have only had one incident of fouling overnight - but that could have been because he'd raided the greenhouse the evening before where the big bag of Burns is kept!!!!!!  Robbie is very good off the lead and usually comes to call.  Sadly recall is not yet perfect and breaks down when other dogs are in the area!! Sheer friendly enthusiasm takes over, but but both dogs are greeted and loved by all they meet. The neighbours think they are wonderful. We haven't let Robbie loose on the moor near sheep or cattle yet as we don't know if he has met them before. Once recall is100%, we will see how he reacts to those fluffy beings from the confines of a farm. Training in the home/garden has gone well. They both sit, go down, come and stay to command.  Mealtimes are amusing - we put down the food in front of both boys, have a long conversation, then say "OK" before Robbie or Rhum are allowed to eat.  Sometimes we see their eyes glaze over at the boredom of our words...............!! but they wait till the command is given.... dribbling but obedient.
In short, we feel extremely lucky to now have two wonderful collies and we cannot thank you enough for that; without your dedication, we wouldn't have them - they are the light of our lives.  We believe Rhum is destined for "flyball" and Robbie for agility; both are intelligent dogs and learn so quickly.  We have already invested in a tunnel for their amusement and have a permanent course locally to test our theory!  All we need to do now is to get fit enough to "accompany" them in those ventures.
 Thank you all so much!!!

Lolita now called Lolly

Dear Many Tears,
I thought I'd drop you a line and let you know how Lolita (or Lolly as she's now known) is coming along. She's 4 weeks into her dog training classes and is coming on in leaps and bounds. She's so intelligent and now knows how to sit, stay, lie down, paw and roll over! Her recall is perfect when there are no other dogs about, but the minute she sees one she's off to play. She adores other dogs and will play with them for hours. At first she was very unsure of people and would cower behind me, but in the last week or so she has become a lot more confident and will now greet people out on walks. she is unsure of children though, mainly because they make so much noise i think! but i'm sure with time she will become less frightened of them.
She sleeps soundly at night but will wake me up if I'm not out of my bed by 10am! She is fine left alone as long as she has her stuffed kong toy to nibble on, and has been coming with me to work in my police job. she even comes into custody with me and gets lots of attention from all the custody staff!
Lolly is such a lovable dog and adores cuddles!! dog training classes have definitely helped her confidence. On her 1st class she hid behind my chair all class, but now she sits next to me calmly with her ears pricked forward taking it all in! It'swonderful to see her character coming through and lovely to see her confidence growing each day. Once she completes her basic training she will go onto her intermediate classes and then hopefully we can start agility with her.
Lolly is the perfect dog! she is very well behaved and so eager to please. The only initial problems I've had is with separation anxiety but she is much more settled now and learning to be independent. It's an absolute pleasure to have Lolly here with me, and its the best decision I made!
I've attached a few pictures for you (she doesn't stay still long enough to take many!). Thanks again for allowing me to adopt Lolly. I hope her brother is also doing well.

Hi Fiona
Just a quick note to let you know Weller had good first night.  He spent most of the evening having good sniff round each room, he didn't get up to any mischief and played well with the children. He was very good on the journey home and slept most of the way.
One of our cats is finding Weller very interesting and just sits and stares at him right in the face.  Weller is a bit put out by this as he wants to play so gives a little bark just to jolly him along but the cat doesn't budge, just sits looking at him. He's the size of a small dog so perfect for him! When Ferby (cat) was having a sniff round Weller's bowl (empty as nothing stays in there for more than 10 secs) he whipped it out from under the cats nose and took it to the dining room! Was hilarious to watch. It was a kind of 'if I can't have yours, you can't have mine' moment!
At bedtime we moved his basket to the landing and closed the bedroom doors, there was a little whimper but then not a peep all night. He stayed dry but this morning he got to the back door and had a little accident as I may have been too long getting there!
He's a wonderful alarm clock. My teenager takes ages to wake up, today we just opened her door and he jumped on her and licked all over her face, she was up within seconds!
Today he's had a little walk to the school, 2 mins away, had a big fuss made of him by all the children which he loved. He's already worn out and been sleeping for the last hour!  He's a little treasure. Thanks for looking after him so well.

Rosie

Hi Sylvia and all at Many Tears
As you know Rosie reached the last 15 of the James Wellbeloved Tails of achievement.  We went to the finals on 13th September  Rosie with 15 other dogs had a wonderful day.  Lots people came to talk to us and several talked of the wonderful work you all do at many tears and how lovely it was that one of your rescue dogs had reached the finals!!! Much to our surprise and pride Rosie was placed third!!
We did all we could to promote your work and encourage others to take on a rescue dog, you may need to give time and patience but the reward is 100 times the effort required!!!
 Regards
 Alison and Lee Sleath
and of course award winning Rosie the lurcher!

Gemma now called GemGem

Dear Sylvia
GemGem has improved in leaps and bounds - she's got a family of her own now - and that is all it has taken to make her the delightful, happy, dedicated little dog she has become.  She is doing a lot of self-discipline!  I can scream with laughter at her.  She learned something new today all by herself.  Today I found your email where you said you think she could be 'a bit of a handful' so I mentioned it to my husband - Bob patted GemGem on the head and said 'you, a handful, never'!  Perhaps she has turned into a little Gem.
 Thank you
 Cheryl Morgan-Veck

TIKI

Well here I am arriving home from my monthly visit to the beauty parlour (as us girls do) I sure am beautiful now.  It's been four months since I came to my 5 star home. Life could not be better although my mum says I bully my brother and sister. I can never thank Sylvia and all at Many Tears for giving me a chance when i was so poorly god bless you all.

Peggy Sue now called Peggy and

Dear Many Tears,
Hello there, this is the Astins Family who adopted Peggy (originally Peggy Sue) 6 months ago (18 month old tri-coloured Collie) and Arthur (originally Bodger) 1 week ago (2 year old tri-coloured Collie). Things are going well, they get on like a house on fire and Arthur is a sweetheart! When not running with Peggy he stays with you when out on walks, loves kisses and cuddles (even with the cat!) and loves everyone - especially children!
Thanks to everyone who helped us to make our dog family complete.
 Regards,
 The Astins Family

Angel now called Molly and Goldie now called Kizzy

MOLLY                                                KIZZY

Hi Many Tears
Just a quick note on Angel (now called Molly) and Goldie (now called Kizzy).  I lost my little Yorkie a few months ago through ill health.  Macey was loved by everyone who knew her and I never thought I would love another dog like her but couldn't envisage life without one.  When I first saw Molly she was the quietest little dog ever but her  eyes just said "please love me".  So she came to live with us and she really is the most beautiful girl both inside and out. Molly is gentle, loving and faithful and helped me over the loss of Macey and so we decided to get her a friend.
We travelled to Many Tears and saw two small dogs in one of the kennels.  It was incredibly hard to choose between them but in the end we picked Goldie (now called Kizzy).  What a little ball of mischief and fun she turned out to be!  Kizzy is super fast at everything and can run like the wind.  In no time she has taught Molly how to climb on the desk when I'm out and the two of them sit and look out the window waiting for me to come home.  Kizzy is my shadow and always at my heels! At bed time Molly gets into her bed followed by Kizzy but as soon as I try to get out of the room Kizzy is through the door and back on the settee like a streak of lightening!  It's become a bit of a game to see if she can get back through the door before I close it!
For the first time yesterday they had a real game of rough and tumble.  It was lovely to see.  So I just want to say thank you to Many Teas for making this possible.  My two wonderful little girls have certainly found their forever homes.
Kind regards
The Careys

Bonnie

Just a quick photo of Bonnie, she is settling in well and getting her paws under the table. She loves being in the car and she is starting to play with her toys now especially the squeaky ones! Hopefully get some more photos soon (I keep forgetting to take my camera round to Mum's).

Jake now called Jack

Jake is now known as Jack and has fitted in well he is really becoming part of the family and adores my husband and sits and waits for him outside the garage door if he is working in the garage. He loves his kisses and cuddles but gets a little over excited when we all play. He loves going to the park, there are acres and acre of fields and woods where he loves to run after sticks, he doesn’t realize yet that he can’t drag a whole branch of a tree round the park, but he tries, whacking us in the back of the legs…… We all love him, he has some issues which we are working on, but shows signs of being a very intelligent dog and will be loving member of our family. Just to re assure you, he wont be coming back to Many Tears, we may have interesting times ahead but we will get there.
 Lesley Smith
Jack sends his love and says he is enjoying himself. XX

Honour now called Holly

Dear Sylvia
I adopted Holly on 2nd July. She as called Honour at the time. She was described as one of  the most frightened dogs ever rescued. Annette had done a wonderful job with her in fostering but she was still terrified when I brought her home. Frightened of everything and everyone.  Now, only, two months later she is a changed animal.  It took over 3 weeks to get her to accept the lead - now she runs to the door as soon as I get the lead out and walks beautifully.  She would go as stiff as a board if I tried to pick her up.  Now she loves a cuddle and having her coat brushed.  She sits on command and will stay for a couple of seconds ( but being a bit of a madam soon gets fed up with training and will turn her back on me and march to the nearest couch from which she cannot be budged - not even for her favourite treat)  If there was a gold medal for dog resting she would win it hands down.  She does it so well - positioning pillows beautifully. First thing in the morning she talks to me in a funny low growl and does a sort of boomerang movement throwing a little yap over her shoulder as she moves off.  She is really funny.  On Monday I took her to a local park and felt confident enough to let her off the lead.  She did a little bit of running around but was more interested in sniffing every blade of grass.   She kept me in her sights at all times and just ran over to me when called and sat for me to put on her lead.
I cannot take all the credit for this transformation. Her main teacher has been my 3 year old Bichon Frise called Joe. The main reason for adopting 'Honour' was to give Joe a friend. I bought him soon after I, suddenly, lost my 10 year old rescue Bichon to liver cancer. I heard about him from someone at work who knew I was looking for another dog. She said he was more in need of rescue than most 'rescue' dogs.  He was  6 months old and had already had 3 owners by the time I heard about him.  The last person to buy him said he was 'the most frightened dog she had ever come across' and her other dogs did not like him so she could not keep him. My head told me not to even go and see him but my heart told me otherwise and having met him I had not choice but to have him. I brought home a shivering, shaking wreck of a puppy who took months to settle down and years to accept any other human being expect me. He now loves people but  is still frightened of other dogs so when I got onto your website( by sheer  accident I might add as I meant to go to the Bichon Rescue site and hit the Friends of Bichon rescue which took me to you - was obviously meant to be!!) and saw the description of Honour I knew that she and Joe would probably have an understanding and even better she was being fostered only about an hour's drive away.
Much to my delight both dogs accepted each other immediately which was a miracle for Joe.  It was the first time I had ever seen him look another dog in the eye and  then he just went and sat by her.  Amazing.  Since then he has looked after her and she has copied everything he does which, at times, is really funny as he gets very excited when friends and family visit and does a lot of jumping around and showing off so Holly does the same but you can see that she has not got a clue why!!!!  They compliment each other as Holly is still wary of humans but quite confident with all other dogs whereas Joe loves people but hides behind her when a dog approaches them.
I cannot thank you enough for your rescue work.   Holly has brought me so much joy and given my Bichon his first friend.
Kind regards
Jean

Ivor now called Cai

Well Ivor (now called Cai) has been with us nearly 3 weeks. Time has gone so fast. He's settled in very well and has got used to his new name with no problems. He's really good at coming to us with his new name. He absolutely adores being made a fuss of and loves chasing a ball - wow does he run fast. He's also rather partial to chasing the cats but he is improving.
We've been for walks and passed other dogs and so far he's been very polite to them and met a few people in the village. He's getting along with the rest of the dogs pretty good - sometime he plays a little too boisterous but nothing that's a problem. He's made himself at home and he's here to stay - we love having him. Will e-mail soon with another update. I've attached a couple of photos.
 Bye for now
 Love and kisses from Cai

JOSS

Hi to Everyone at Many tears.
Just a quick update on how joss is doing. well it has been almost 2 months now since Joss came home with us and it feels like she has been with us for all her life. She is a very happy playful dog with much to offer. She fits just nicely into our family, is very loyal and loving and I don't know what we would do without her. We are looking forward to many more happy times together. Here are a couple pictures that a quite recent and just shows of her character perfectly.
 Thanks again
from Gemma Jason and of course Joss!!

Amber (cat) and Sabre (GSD)

Dear Sylvia
Just thought I would send you a picture of our beautiful babies we adopted from you some time ago.  Amber was an ex breeding dog and Sabre and his mum had been shut in for ages..
I think you can see from the photos they have more than settled in and are enjoying life. I think there were a few people interested in King aka Sabre and thought it would be nice for them to see on happy endings that they had settled in their forever home.  Amber is well of course.
All love and respect for the good work that you do and and people should see the culmination of the good work that you all do.
 Jan Roberts Sabre and Amber

Dusty now called Molly

This is Molly (aka Dusty) who was adopted on 29/07/08. It has turned out to be a mutual love affair. Molly is an affectionate, very loving little dog who has not only crept into Doreen and Alec's hearts, but also into those of all their friends who visit. Thank you "Many Tears" for helping to mend many broken hearts.

Mark now called Mac

Hi! Sylvia, just thought I would give you an update on Mark now called Mac, he is now 161/2 months old, he has been in a nursery agility competition and had just 5 faults, which I was really proud of, it was just to get him a bit of ring practise really he will not compete again until March April next year I had a problem with him when i first got him with his bowls, but i have him on a raw diet and it suits him really well, my vets are really pleased with his progress, he is such a sweet natured boy he love all people and all dogs even if they don't like him (will he ever learn? I don't think so). I have had a portrait done of Mac I thought you might like to see what he has turned out like.  Tell your daughter whom I no does agility as I have met her at Newbury, to listen out in the future for cwmlogin Mac that is my Mac for when he starts to win ha! ha! regards to all Maureen and Mac

Tattle now called Missy

It’s now been 16 months since I was adopted so I thought an update may be due.

My mum and dad tell me what a wonderful dog I am all the time. Cocoa, the Patterdale, has got used to me and we chase all over Shotover Country Park every day after squirrels. We haven’t caught any yet as for some reason they are all about 30ft up trees. The good thing is Cocoa has lost a kilo in weight since she started chasing after me. My typical day is, lunchtime Dad comes home, this is very exciting as he feeds us. Just after he leaves mum comes home and makes a big fuss of us both. Teatime dad comes home again and this is very exciting again as it’s time for our Shotover walk. After our walk dad combs us then we settle for the evening, I roll on my back for tummy rubs about every 30 mins all evening, most times either mum or dad fall for it. I am a very happy dog and the 2ft of rope I call my tail hits everything every time someone speaks to me, especially Cocoa’s head. My mum and dad have also done a few home checks and it’s good to see their happy endings on the website.

I don’t think us dogs ask much, regular feeding, regular exercise and regular affection and we will devote our lives to our owners.  Please keep up the good work as I am one of  many who appreciate it.

lots of love
Missy xxxx

Fairy now called Amber

Just a little update on Fairy now Amber. Only two weeks but she has settled in as if she has always lived with us. best wishes Mary Giles

Ceaser now called Cizzy

Dizzy has now been with us for 9 months and we love him to bits.  He is  just perfect.  In February he started obedience classes and he has come on really well and we both enjoy them. On the 10th August he did his 1st  ever obedience display at Nailsworth dog show and it was great fun.  His recall is amazing even in public, he just always want to be with you and to please you. He has also been winning lots of rosettes .Already he is obviously following in Joss' (our other dog) footsteps.
We took him to the Cold Wet Nose Show and he really enjoyed it .He came 5th in melting expression, 4th in handsomest dog, 3rd in best doggie family( with our other dog) and 2nd in shining example!!  He has been training for flyball since March and he is doing really well at that too!  He is the youngest dog that our very experienced trainer has trained. He has recently left the beginners class and started in the starter team.  This means that he is ready for shows. He is also the youngest ever dog to make it into the starter team in the history of the club. He will also be starting agility
in October so we hope that will go just as well as everything else.  Also at Agility and obedience he has met 3 other Many Tears dogs who he is also friends with he did the demonstration with them too. Their names are Nerys Hughes now called Willow, Sunday now called Hazel and Lucy now called Lotus (see photo).
On the 18th August it was our birthdays and we had a really good time.  I was 13 and Dizzy was1! On my birthday cake I had a picture of Dizzy and me, which was really nice!  Dizzy is just amazing.  He is the best friend that I could ever wish for and I love him so much!  I clearly remember the day I walked into the office to collect him and I was so excited.  He has got his forever home now. He is one in a million.  Thank you so much.  At the moment he has got a cough which we don't want to spread but when he has got rid of it we  will be looking for a playmate for him from you!  This is because as Joss is an older dog he sleeps for a lot of the time and he cant keep up with Dizzy!
 Abby (aged 13)

Fortune now called Nala

Just to let you know that Nala (Fortune) has been with us a year tomorrow, she’s now 35kg (up from 24kg -when she arrived) and in very good health. She is extremely playful and will keep fetching a ball until your arm drops off. She is a very well behaved and intelligent dog and seems to respond to commands like she has had intensive training – but she’s never had a day of it? Her weakness is still flip-flops and to date we can’t remember how many pairs we have had to replace. She has bonded very well with Teddy and they are seldom apart when out walking. He does sulk a bit because she can run faster than him but that’s due to the fact that he is a giant of a GSD compared to her (48kg). Here’s a picture taken last week.

Ruby

Hello
Ruby is getting on great, she's being really good still and always wags her tail. She's flat out on the floor next to me at the moment! She's lost weight and is back to normal now. Here are some photos of her with some of her new friends.
 Tracey

Tilly

Dear Kevin.
We brought Tilly home with us last Monday (25th August) and what a lovely, gentle natured dog she is! I just want to say thank you to  Sara (Tilly's Foster mum) you have done a fantastic job with her.
Tilly has settled in very well indeed, both she and Bella, our other rescued dog (collie cross beagle) seem to get along well together.  Both have a certain calmness about them. Since Tilly has been with us, we have had some lovely walks along the Fleet Lagoon and of course she has been introduced to Weymouth main beach. I must say she wasn't quite sure what to make of the sea and sand, but after a few visits she is loving it!
I am attaching a few photos we have taken.  Thank you both once again, I'll keep you updated as time goes on.
 Kind regards

 Tricia

Brie

I can not believe it has been ten months since I was adopted. So sorry I have not written earlier but I am kept so busy. I now live in a boarding school house which is full of children great fun for me as they all want to play. Sports day was fab I was in blue team and had a team shirt to wear whilst I cheered the girls on. Behind my new home is the South Downs and I love to run through the fields and get loads of bits stuck to me and covered in mud!! I also think its great fun in the woods I like to chase rabbits but my all time favourite game is ball I never get tired of fetching it and bringing it back. I have also been on holiday and stayed on the beach in Devon it was good fun. I am a well behaved boy and my new family all love me loads.
Thank you to Many Tears for rescuing me and thank you Patti and Lara for finding me a new home.
From Brie

Ribena now called Tula

What a difference a week makes. After a very long journey home we felt we couldn't let Tula loose in the garden as she was desperately looking for an escape route . So we just kept taking her around the garden on a lead for a couple of days. In the house she was so scared so we left her alone  for quite a while.
She soon found upstairs was quiet and has now decided that her sleeping place is under our bed.  She likes to spend a lot of time in the garden but is now quite relaxed.
Walks are no problem although sudden or loud noises frighten her and she is terrified of men so we can only guess at what some man has done to her in the past. She also likes to eat in the study by herself with the door shut. Six days after her arrival we had another (unexpected ) lodger in the form of Toby, a great bruiser of a greyhound. He ,sadly has thyroid cancer and maybe won't make it to Christmas, but at present he is a great big over the top puppy. Tula takes him in her stride and puts him in his place when necessary. She is a real sweetheart and has also been 100% clean in the house ...So much for foxhounds not making good pets!!!      Thanks for a lovely lovely dog.
 Sue.

Dotty

 Hey Sylvia,

As you can see from these pictures Dotty has settled in well! She is a joy. She walks well on the lead but we still keep her on long leads because we are not yet confident about recall. She is far too "good" with sheep, horses and cows but she is learning to pass by without chasing after them. She is wonderful with people and children. She is very keen to meet other dogs but won't put up with any dominance from them. She sleeps upstairs besides our bed but has a comfy window seat to call her own in the sitting room although more often than not she bags wherever she likes. She was very over-excited when her food appeared but she is much calmer now and has she learnt very quickly that food on people's plates is not hers. She is still keen on bins and their contents but this is improving! We have visited the vet to have her checked over and weighed for food quantities. She is fine except for the one problem. She has a growth, size and shape of a cherry, on the outside of her left back paw. She is not walking on it so it can be left a while but as she is so young it will need to be removed shortly. We keep our fingers crossed that it is nothing serious. We will keep you posted. Just one more thing - if you want to meet hoards of people when you're out then get a Bernese like Dotty. She is the centre of attention - and she loves it.
 Regards
 Sue Paul and Dotty

Maurice now called Eddie

Eddie, where to start?, Well, the good news is the quiet, timid, unsure little lad is no more.  He's come out of himself and loves life!
There are a few things he is still not comfy with; having claws touched on two feet being the biggest but the missing claws on those feet are growing back.
He had his last vaccination and now can go out into the big wild world.  He loves it, everything is an adventure. He spends lots of time meeting other dogs, people and anything else we come across. He also spends time with his puppy cousins which he finds great.
Eddie has fitted in so well here it's almost like he's always been here. What can I say, thank you so much for letting him come and live with us and the furry gang (he still thinks the tortoise is lunch tho!).
A true character and typical terrier, I never ever thought I'd see two black and tans in this homr, but its certainly livened the house up!
Love to all,
Louise, Diesel, Holly and Eddie xxx

TAYLOR

Taylor is now living with myself, Katie my lodger, and her new brother and sister, Bruce And Gemma, who are also Boxer dogs.  Her first night was unsettling for her but after that she has fitted in really well.  She is sleeping with Bruce and Gemma, has the run of the whole house, (Including the sofas!) and is eating well.
She has been double checked over by my vet and she has been given a good bill of health with no issues. She is now fully insured with Pet Plan, and is enrolled in Pet Back Protect.  She has been with us now for 2 weeks and is settling in great.  She is still a little nervous around dogs she doesn't know, but we will over come that in time.  She comes up for cuddles all the time, follows us around everywhere we go in the house, and when out walking has a good bound around off the lead!   From the word go she got on really well with Bruce and Gemma and they excepted her straight away.
This is the start of a new life for Taylor, where she is loved by us all.
Thank you very much for bringing Taylor in to our family.
 Andy

River

Dear all at Many Tears,
Just thought I would drop a line to say how well River is doing.  After the initial bad couple of weeks i can quite happily say that she is now a happy healthy little madam who likes nothing more than her food, walks and cuddles in bed with "daddy". She has a definite terrier attitude and outlook but she is a real sweetie and has changed the way I felt about terriers on the whole.
River is learning very quickly and has mastered the sit, down, stand, heel, most importantly she has a very good wait, and will happily sit and wait for as long as needed.  She has made lots of friends at puppy class and on walks. Her favourite friends seems to be a cockerpoo and a poodle, however she is quite taken to the Springer and the Boxer that have been with us for the last two weeks and like nothing more than hogging the sofa with them.
Next week sees River's first time in the Hydro pool (she has been having free run of the place whilst Sparky has his sessions in the pool) She has been up and down the ramp, wears the life jacket and has been in the water up to her chest, so she's going to be a big brave girlie next week and hopefully she will swim across to the steps (River isn't too keen on water!) so will wait and see how she goes!
One thing about our little "Dot" (or Puddle as she is fondly referred too, she has lots of nik-names) is that she is still tiny, a small harness isn't small enough and she has only just fitted into a proper collar but I'm happy to say she is now a whopping 4.4kg , very far from the 1.865lb when she was 9 weeks old.  Anyway got to go, walkies is expected.

Cynthia now called Daisy

We started fostering Daisy the end of May as soon as she came to our home we loved her. She was here two days when she started having breathing problems so off to the vets we went. Daisy was sedated and X-rayed whichshowed she had an enlarged heart and the vet said she only has 2 years to live. She started on heart tablets, we were devastated we  already decided to adopt her as we loved her from day one. She has one tablet a day and how she has improved, she runs, plays and is so happy, she will be spoilt and loved for the rest of her life, and we wouldn't be without her. Anything she needs she will have. She is a very happy dog and walks well on a lead and loves attention.

Acorn now called Amber

Amber, formerly Acorn is now 6 months old. She has gone from being a skinny, underweight pup to a mega bouncy, full-on, high activity and energy level menace! She has fitted into our family beautifully. She passed her puppy training with Daniel (12 years) with flying colours, they are continuing with the obedience and she will start her flyball training in October. She is super fast and can fit a full size tennis ball in her mouth ..... just!
We have done lots of camping this year due to our flyball competitions, and she has gained herself the nick name "Ginger Ninja" due to her ability to escape, she can jump a 4 ft fence from standing!!! Fun to watch, but a challenge when on a campsite. She has been a huge asset when we have fostered other Many Tears puppies, as she will play and play and play! The photo shows her with Jet and Poppy her doggy family. We still firmly believe this was a successful adoption, not a failed foster!!

Sassy now called Cassy

Hi Guys
I had a phone call the other day from the lady who adopted Sassy to let me know how she was getting on. Eileen has changed her name to Cassy. Cassy has settled in really nicely and Eileen says she is very much her dog now and she is surprised at how quickly she has helped her after the loss of her last dog. Cassy loves going out for a walk and a run over the park but never wanders to far from her apart from the day she did see a cat and run after it but she did come straight back when called. We called in quickly today to get a photo to send you and we could see she is very happy in her new home and looks like a different dog now she has filled out and put on the weight she needed to.

Tina

Hello Sylvia and Noel
Remember Tina, the 6 month GSD you rescued with her Mum and brothers from a pig trailer. I am so proud of her because along with her mate Sophie, she has worked through the Kennel Club Good Citizen awards and gained her Gold three weeks ago. Now we have achieved that, with the same club we have started agility and Tina loves it. Only the baby course so far until I get better at directing her. Come Winter we will return to an advanced award above the Gold that our club has put together to include scenting hidden objects, complicated recalls through lines of dogs, distance commands and send away. Like Sophie, Tina's temperament is superb, both with humans, big and small and other dogs. She loves to play and chase but will run away if another dog is grumpy. If it is not too big, she will run back again just to give it another chance.
Best wishes Judith, Sophie and Tina White.

Shabba now called Mika

Shabba is now named Mika and she recognises her name already. Mika is doing very well with her food eating everything and has had no food aggression at all for the last couple of days. Mika now sleeps at night from 10pm until about 5.15am when she needs to get up to go to the toilet. Henry loves having Mika around and they play together for hours until they both give in and fall asleep together  on the sofa or in the garden and at night Mika starts off in her own bed but always ends up crawling into Henrys and curling up with him and he's quite happy with that.
Mika can now sit when asked and is now learning to give her paw and with the prospect of a treat she is more than willing to co-operate! I do have to watch her all he time as she will eat absolutely anything that she finds. Mika had her second set of vaccinations on Tuesday and is now enjoying walks with Henry she is very good on the lead and very fast when running to keep up with Henry.
We are all very pleased we found Mika on Many tears and she has settled in really well with us.I will send you more photos soon ,at the moment she is like a moving target i have got lots of fuzzy photos where she moves every time I click the camera. The photo shows her lying with Henry.
Julie, Alastair, Bethan, Daisy, Lottie, Henry and of course Mika.

Chester now called Spencer

 Hi,

It has been a year now since we adopted a truly beautiful German Shepherd from you called Chester now known as Spencer, I thought I would let you know that he is doing really well and that we think he is amazing. He has been to both obedience and agility training and behaves like a star !! He is good with all dogs and children and horses and sheep! In fact he never strays far from our sides. He loves the sea and rivers where we live and jumps the cross country fences that should be for the horses ! My elderly grumpy Jack Russell has taught him about manners and personal space and over the last three months he has really gained in confidence and plays like a puppy. He has been clean in the house since we got him and his only fault is that he is still a little worried with out me but he s getting better every day. we are so pleased with him and find it difficult to believe how good he is. My husband always says I picked well but If you remember in the school that day I know he picked me. I have attached some pics so you can see how gorgeous he is.
Many thanks best wishes to the whole team  Anne and Rich

Sailor now called Cyril

Salilor is now called Cyril and s doing just great. We're now ready to make our Many Tears 'Happy endings' entry!

We straight away started a bit of tough love with Cyril- ie not letting him through doors before us etc - and taking on the tips you gave us. He was still pulling a lot and very skittish. However leaving him at my parents for the week did the world of good (although they spoilt him rotten and got him into drinking tea and eating toast). When we brought him back we went straight to the park - and he was overjoyed. It seems it has really reassured him to come back to our place - and he has been so well behaved ever since - learning quickly and following commands.
I also kept practicing recall on his lead in all sorts of situations - especially when he is interested in something he likes - and he comes back and sits and waits for the command to go again. I also practiced putting my leg in front of him when he went to go forward whilst walking on the lead in the street. He now walks beautifully to heel.
