The Friends of Many Tears was founded in January 2007. We are still growing in number and always welcome anyone with an interest in raising funds for Many Tears. We have our own website www.friendsofmanytears.co.uk and from there will keep you up to date with all the news and lots of ways that you can help. We have raised a magnificent £10500 in our first year. However with the withdrawal of the Dogs Trust neutering vouchers we need to aim even higher in our second year. So we really need your support. Please read below and on our website to see if there is any way that you can help. We are always looking for collectors at street collections. Could you send us your unwanted foreign currency? Have you joined Lily's Lotto? Would you like to join our standing order scheme? Please don't just sign on, look at the pictures of the dogs and sign off. Make your visit count, if everyone that signed on did just one thing for the Friends of Many Tears we would raise an amazing amount in 2008.

Hi it's Lily here |
SHAVING OFF THE PROFITS FOR MANY TEARS
Dorian, who is a new fosterer and has Mulberry staying with him at present, has made us a great offer. He runs an on line business that sells shaving creams, soaps, skin care products, bridal tiaras, teddy bears and some nice costume jewellery. If anyone would like to purchase any products, please mention Many Tears in the comments box at the checkout stage, then 5% of the order value will be donated to the Friends of Many Tears. Simply visit www.abbiegails.co.uk and shop, shop, shop. Don't forget to mention Many Tears in order to get our donation.
In addition to that a £15 voucher to spend on the site will be offered to the best or hardest working fundraiser each month. Fundraising can be hard work but now some lucky Friends will be able to order something nice to pamper themselves as a reward for all their hard work.
2008 COLLECTION AND AWARENESS DAYS
Our street collections in 2007 were very successful and raised over £3000. We have now arranged most of the collections for 2008 and these are listed below. We need help with these as the more people that are out on the street the more money we will collect. If there is anyone who can bring a dog along please do so as, from past experience, it is the dogs that collect the money. Maybe you have had a dog from Many Tears and would like to help by bringing that dog along and collecting for whatever time you can spare. Please let us know if you can help at any, even if it is just an hour or two. Look out for new dates and venues as they are added:

| Pack 1 - Small Dogs | Pack 2 - Large Dogs | Pack 3 - Winter dogs |
| Manny by Fiona Alfie by Yvonne Georgia by Peg Maddie by Jan Lilly by Ruth |
Bow Peep by Sally Lola by Heather Indie by Emma Dulcie by Theresa Bella by Julia |
China by Katrina Amber by Michelle Fen by Sian Penny & Honey by Sarah Jake & Sweep by Julie |
We are hoping that the cards will be printed and on sale in October/November just in time for stocking fillers. The price will depend on the final printing costs but we will over the course of 2009 try to offer all 30 finalists a pack of 5 or 10 cards of their own dog.
We hope the cards will be a big success as all the money raised will go to help less fortunate dogs who are still waiting at Many Tears for their forever homes. Many thanks to everyone who sent in photos.
SAVED FOR CHRISTMAS DOGS
You may be aware that one of the busiest times for Sylvia and Many Tears is the period leading up to Christmas and through into the New Year. This is because most animal rescues close down at this time of year but the pounds stay open. Sylvia, however, keeps Many Tears open all through this period and takes in as many dogs as she can, which places a huge strain on resources So, to plan ahead for that time of year when Many Tears needs the extra funds, we launched the Saved for Christmas Dogs Appeal 2007. With the help of this appeal we were able to give Many Tears a cheque for £3000 and £200 worth of treats, so we will continue this appeal into 2008. Find yourself a jar or a dish or a bottle and simply save your 20p's whenever you receive one in your change. It may only be a few a week, but you won't miss it and over the year it will build into a nice sum, especially if there's lots of us involved. Sometime in November, I will ask you to pay your collection into the bank and then send me a cheque payable to Friends of Many Tears Animal Rescue (mark the back of the cheque Christmas Dogs). Early in December, we will pass on a cheque to Sylvia that will hopefully ease some of the weight on her mind just before the busiest time of the year. We also hope to get some press coverage for the handover to alert people that there will be more dogs looking for homes after the holiday period.
STANDING ORDER SCHEME
We have introduced the standing order scheme and are looking for a small regular amount paid monthly by standing order from your bank account to ours. A small amount from £3 upwards would be great as lots of small payments all added together will raise much needed funds for Many Tears.
To join simply e-mail Glenda at glenda.fry@btinternet.com for a standing order form.
FOREIGH CURRENCY
We are now saving foreign currency. We all come back with little bits that we can do nothing with but if you send any notes to:
Danny Westwood, 9 Gallivan Close, Little Stoke, Bristol BS34 6RW
We will collect it all together and change into sterling. At present the only coin we can take is Euros. No amount is too small as it all adds up.
PAULA HELPS US TO ADVERTISE MANY TEARS
Paula has kindly made us some lovely postcards which she will mail to you if you want to place one on a notice board at work or in a newsagents window etc to advertise Many Tears. Please get in touch with her at frostyaq@googlemail.com. Thanks Paula, great idea.
