MANY TEARS RAFFLE

Many Tears raffle tickets are now being sent out.  Click here to see a list of the prizes.  If you haven't received tickets by the 15th June or would like some more, email manytearsraffle@sky.com and give your name, address and how many books you would like.
Thank you.

It's more crucial than ever this year that our raffle makes money as, like everyone, we are struggling to keep going. The adoption fee for the dogs does not cover the vet bills and running costs and extra cash has to be found or we will shut. If everyone who reads this site could sell one ticket to 10 people (that's just asking £1 per friend) we will have a chance to continue.  Please email manytearsraffle@sky.com for requests for books or call 01269 843084. You can also buy tickets from our Ebay Shop. The raffle will be drawn at the beginning of Sept. Yet again these dogs and cats lives are in your hands. Please help us continue!!!!!!

KES

27-05-09 Kes is a beautiful little female border collie pup with distinctive markings of a black triangle on white behind her head and a white triangle on black on her back. She is going to be a definite tri color very much like her dad. She is one of the smaller pups but is still eating and growing well. She certainly doesn't let her size bother her and is happy to join in the fun and games with her siblings. She is responsive and curious about everything.

03-07-09 UPDATE

Kes is an 10 week old border collie pup who is reavailable for adoption as she has had a bit of a poorly tummy but she is now back on form and fighting fit. She tri-coloured and shorter coated. She may be small in size but believe me she more than makes up for it in character and personality. Don't be mistaken into thinking she's likely to be the small quiet one, she's up for anything and quite strong willed. She shows no fear of her largest siblings, cats or big dogs for that matter including my German Shepherd. She is however bright as a button and loves human contact already answering to her name and well on the way to being house trained. She is a lot of fun and would love a stimulating active home with lots of love and cuddles.

Being fostered near Many Tears in South Wales.   Please read our adoption procedures before applying. If you are interested in adopting any of these pupies please complete the Adoption Form.  To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked and you and all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog you want to adopt MUST come to meet the new dog.  We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £160 for our foster dogs to help cover our costs.  All our dogs are micro-chipped, inoculated and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so.  If adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. If you have not had a response to your application within 24 hours please call our foster office between 10am and 3pm on 01249 655323.

KAMALA

27-05-09 Kamala is a lovely little girl. She is pure border collie and has a lot of white on her and is beautiful.  Kamala is a lively outgoing little pup. She has the prettiest markings and is growing well. She responds to your voice and is usually in the thick of any rough and tumble that going on. Like all her brothers and sister she is inquisitive and into everything.  Kamala is still one of the larger pups and getting bigger. She is bright, curious and into everything. She is developing well and and will need an active home with lots to keep her occupied. She is really pretty with lovely markings and a hint of tri color coming through. She is friendly and well balanced.

03-07-09 UPDATE

Kamala is a 10 week old border collie pup. She a big fluffy bundle of fun. She is into everything and takes terrible liberties with Miko my German Shepherd, including being taken for a ride round the kitchen by holding onto her tail. One of her favourite games is "Chase the Broom" whenever I sweep up. She is well on her way to being house trained and comes to her name (well she comes to Kammy). Even though she is bigger than the remaining pups and enjoys the usual rough and tumble, she is by no means the dominant one and has a lovely nature and temperament. She would love a stimulating active home where she will also get lots of cuddles.

03-07-09 Winnona is a 3 year old ex breeding Bischon. she is a very sweet very tolerant lady. She did not come in as white as this but put up with a lot of bathing. She will need a home that has time to show her all about domestic life. She will also need a canine friend to help her learn and be her friend.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. HOLLY

28-05-09 Holly is nearly 2 years old and a Belgium Shepperd.  She is a bag of nerves, she settles well with people she knows but is scared every time something new happens.  Her past has been a nightmare and she suffered great abuse and was nearly starved to death. She was adopted by a very caring lady, but Holly started to chase the cat and be pushy with their older dog. Though she needs clear direction she also needs a very gentle loving owner to point her the right way.

20-06-09 UPDATE
I spent a few hours at the centre as a volunteer walking some of the dogs and wanted to write a few words about Holly who really wormed her way into my heart in the short time I was there. Holly was at the door to her kennel when I arrived but when she was I was approaching her she ran back into her bed area and hid behind the door, peering out so all I could see was one side of her face. I went into her kennel and sat down a few feet from her and after a couple if minutes she hesitantly approached me. After allowing her to have a good sniff I slipped a lead on her and we went for a walk. Once outside the kennel she really came out of herself, walking along with me very happily, when she started pulling I told her no twice and that was it, she stopped. She did all her business whilst we were out suggesting she is house trained and when I stopped to wait for another dog walker and told her to sit she did instantly. Whilst we were waiting I absently stroked her ear and then when I stopped she nudged me to get me to continue. All in all Holly melted my heart, she is so affectionate, obviously eager to please and deserves a special home of her own where she can start to overcome her fears and be appreciated as the special dog she so obviously is.

03-07-00 UPDATE

Beautiful Holly just so wants to please but no one seems to want this shy but very special lady.  She is so in need of a forever home and yet constantly overlooked and passed by.  Please if you can offer this beautiful girl the home she deserves please get in touch asap.

02-07-09 Villy is a 5 year old ex breeding shih tzu. She is clever and interested in everything but a little worried as all is new around her. She will be happiest with another dog to show her all about the comforts of a home
.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience.

This dog is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our
adoption procedures before applying.  You will be home checked and you and all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog.  All our dogs are micro-chipped, inoculated and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so.  If you are adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £150.  If you are interest in adopting please call the rescue centre between 10am and 4pm on 01269 843084. 04-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

EMMA

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

29-05-09 Emma is a 3½ year old mini schnauzer ex breeding bitch. She only came in a few weeks ago but has been returned because her adopter's vet found she had a low grade heart murmur.  Emma is very scared  and will need time and help to adapt. She will also need a home with another gentle, calm and kind dog to be her friend.

05-06-09 UPDATE
Little Emma is just the most scared little dog I have every seen.  Everything frightens this little darling. She runs away from me and the only way I can catch her is to herd her into a bed and she then just sits there looking terrified while I pick her up. She didn’t like walking on the lead when she first came but is now doing this - but if she hears or sees anything strange she has a big panic attack! I am only walking her around the property as I think traffic etc. would be too much for her at the moment.
Emma is fantastic with the other dogs, and enjoys playing with them in the garden. She loves to find somebody to cuddle up to and often lies virtually on top of the other little dogs! She is being crated at night, initially on her own and was fine but is now crated with Galaxy (other foster schnauzer) and she is as good as gold. She is fine with the cats, she just ignores them both.
Emma is virtually housetrained, but can have the odd accident. She eats very well and enjoys treats, so this will be the key to gaining her trust! The vet listened to her heart and said it was the most minor of heart murmurs which is not affecting her health in any way at all. She will need a very quiet and patient household - definitely with other little dogs she can bond with and cuddle up to. She will definitely not cope with children at all, so an adult only household will be necessary. Whoever offers her a home will have a real project to help her overcome her fears but when she does she is going to be such a lovely little darling bless her.

UPDATE 20-06-09

Emma is improving slowly – but still has a long way to go! She is still very scared of people – especially if they are walking towards her, I think she has some very bad memories of what people have done to her in the past. If she is sitting on the sofa (which she likes to do!) I can sit next to her and she will let me stroke her without tensing up in fright. She will also allow me to stoke her when she is in a bed, but you can see she is not comfortable and is ready to race away if it gets too much for her poor darling.
She will now come over to me and lick my fingers and take treats if they are on offer, so this is a big breakthrough for her. She is walking great on the lead now, and looks forward to going out with all her friends into the paddocks for a run. It can be a bit tricky to get her lead on her as she is prone to running away, but more and more times now she is prepared to stand still while I put her lead on her.
Emma is fantastic with the other dogs and races around with them playing with them, and her cheeky side is now beginning to show through! She loves to be in the middle of a doggie play fight, so when my other dogs begin to play she races up and insists on joining in! She is now totally clean in the house, and is good at night in a pen with her 2 foster friends.
Emma is going to be a real project for somebody who is prepared to be patient with this little girl. She has improved, but is still one of the most scared dogs I have ever seen. But she will get there but it is going to take a lot of time and patience. She will definitely need to go to a home with other confident dogs, preferably with smaller dogs as she can get a little worried by my 2 collies – so definitely prefers smaller friends.
Please only apply for Emma if you are totally committed to helping her overcome her fears. She has already been let down once – so please don’t let this happen to this lovely dog again.

02-07-09 UPDATE
Emma is still a very scared little girl. She is very happy in the house with the other dogs, and takes no notice at all of the cats. She has totally got the house routine, and happily yaps when it is food time, or time to go out in the morning. She plays with the other dogs and really does enjoy other canine company. It is lovely to see her racing around wagging her little stump! What she still doesn’t enjoy is human company! She is fine if she is sitting on the sofa – I can go and sit next to her and stroke her. If she is in her pen she will let me stroke her and will come over if I am fussing one of the other dogs and will lick my fingers if I stretch my hand out for her. But if I try to approach her when she is running free she will run away. She seems terrified that something bad is about to happen to her and I just hope with time she will begin to trust me more and allow me to approach her. There are occasions where she will allow this more readily and hopefully these will become more frequent. She will need a home with other confident dogs she can learn from, and somebody who understands nervous dogs and is prepared to be patient and sympathetic while she gets over her fears. You can see at times glimpses of the happy, cheeky little dog she will blossom into and I hope it won’t be too long before she is nearing that goal. She is a sweet little dog, who is no trouble at all in the home – and I am happy to care for her until that special person comes along to offer her a forever home.

IMOGEN

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

04-06-09 Imogen is a 4 year old schnauzer.  She is ex breeding girl who has reached the end of her breeding life. The schnauzers are generally more nervous than a lot of the breeding dogs that we take in and so might need more time to settle than some other dogs. Imogen will definitely need other dogs in the house to help her find her feet in her new life so please only apply if you have already have a kind and gentle dog to help her.

 20-06-09 UPDATE

Imogen is a very sweet little dog. She is great with all the other dogs, and has just ignored the cats. She has really come out of herself this week, and happily runs around the garden with the other dogs and enjoys to play with them now too. She is still a little worried about people, but does not run away from you most of the time. She will tend to lie down when you approach her and let you fuss her – something at this stage she doesn’t seem to enjoy much but this will come with time.
When she first came she had no idea about walking on a lead, but she is now doing this pretty well. She is only walking around private grounds, so she has not encountered noisy traffic etc, but walks in the paddocks where she can run around with the other dogs and explore!
Imogen will need a quiet, patient household with no young children who would frighten her too much. She will definitely need another confident dog to bond with and learn from as this is how she has learned to walk on the lead by following the other dogs. She still needs a lot more work to bring her out of herself and learn that humans mean her not harm, but she is improving everyday – and it will be a pleasure to help this little dog blossom into the wonderful girl we know she will become.

02-07-09 UPDATE
Imogen continues to make progress, becoming a little more confident everyday. She has bonded well with the other dogs, and will play happily with them out in the garden. She has learnt what toys are for and occasionally plays with a soft squeaky toy – such a joy to see her enjoying herself. She eats extremely well, but is on a bit of a diet as she is a little overweight! At first she did not understand how to take treats from your hands, but she is now beginning to gently take them from me. She is totally clean in the house and is quiet at night. She needs her forever home soon as she is bonding closely with Emma who is a very scared foster schnauzer and some of Emma’s fear occasionally rubs off onto Imogen and they both run away into the garden at times when I want to catch them. Imogen however will then let me go and put a lead on her, unlike Emma who will keep running away. She is a really lovely and calm little schnauzer, who will need another confident dog who she can bond with. She does still have some way to go to learn that the world and humans are OK but she is getting there – and her new owner will need to be prepared to keep helping her with this.

UTTER

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

20-06-09 Utter is a dear little 3 year old mini schnauzer. She has come from a breeder and was no longer required as did not get into pup this year. She has a sweet temperament but is shy as not use to being anywhere bar the breeding kennels. She will make a sweet pet but will need another gentle dogs guidance and patience and time to adapt.

 02-07-09 UPDATE
Utter has been with me for nearly a week now, and she is settling in very well indeed. She is not as scared as most of the other foster schnauzers, she already comes up for a fuss and happily wags her tail when she sees me. She is worried about sudden movements, but is quickly learning nobody is going to harm her and is getting much better. She is great with the other dogs, but she does not like the cats. She does not try to harm them, but she growls and barks at them. My cats stand their ground but I suspect she would chase a less confident cat. She will definitely need a home without cats. She is totally clean in the house – the door is open all day and I have had no accidents at all. She sleeps in a little pen with 2 other foster schnauzers at night and she is as good as gold – unless one of the cats passes by, when she will bark at them! She does not walk on the lead at present and as it has been so hot recently I have not pushed her to do much so far. She will need more work with this, but I don’t think she will take long to learn this. Utter will need a home with no feline companions but with another confident dog to learn from and to bond with. She is a lovely girl, who with time, love and patience will become a very loving and loyal companion for some lucky family.

IMAGINE

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

04-06-09 Imagine is a 5 year old schnauzer who is no longer needed by her breeder.  She is very nervous of people and being handled and might have problems with her eyesight, we will update the website when we know more about this.  Imagine will definitely need other dogs in the house to help her find her feet in her new life so please only apply if you have already have a kind and gentle dog to help her.

UPDATE
Imagine has now seen the vet who has said she is completely blind.

19-06-09 UPDATE

Imagine is doing very well in herself, but we will have to wait until next Tuesday 23rd June for an Ophthalmic Vet to give a definitive opinion on treatment for her sight.
At home she is getting on so well with the other dogs - it's a Schnauzer thing!!   Although to be fair, my Collie girl and she are also getting along well.  Imagine is such a gentle little girl:  the other dogs love her, and my cats are not worried by her either.  She is frightened of people but not worried at all by the animals and it is lovely to see her playing in the garden with her new friends.  For the first couple of days I had to carry her in and out all the time, but her confidence in both me and the environment has grown, and now she will follow me out, but also choose to go out with the other dogs on her own accord if the back door is open.  She is very well adapted to her disability and doesn't seem to bump into things, even when cantering round the garden when joining in doggy play!
At home, her particular friend is my adopted MT Schnauzer Jingle who has already undergone successful eye surgery, so maybe Jingle is giving her the benefit of her own experiences when they cuddle up together!  Imagine gets very excited whenever she gets to meet up with Imogen, who is in a different foster home and it is sweet to see.
I won't update on Imagine again until she has seen her consultant but it will be interesting to hear his opinion as to what is best for her.  She is an adorable little angel who is bravely coping with her disability and the upheaval from the deprived life she used to have, bless her.

 02-07-09 UPDATE
Imagine will be admitted to the Veterinary Ophthalmologist on Monday 6 July for her surgery and has just started the pre-surgery eye drops regime.  She's not sure about the drops, but likes the treats that go with them!   She will be hospitalized for several days after the surgery to remove the cataracts and hopefully to insert prosthetic lenses as long as this is possible.  Fingers crossed for a good result for this very brave little dog!  She has become so active and playful, and tries so hard to join in games with the other dogs, so she will really benefit if it is possible to restore her sight, bless her, and it is just fantastic that Many Tears supporters who have donated money and the Friends of Many Tears have made it possible for her to have the best chance of a normal life.  She is worth it, because she is an adorable, funny little character who is going to make an absolutely brilliant dog for some lucky person once she has recovered from the surgery and rehab.  She loves other dogs, and gets on well with them, and she is good with my cats, but oh my goodness, you should see this tiny scrap who can only vaguely discern light from dark when she meets my rescue ponies!  They are the other side of my fence, and Imagine is determined that they will stay there, and barks furiously at them when they come near the garden, having obviously decided it is her job to protect my home, my other dogs and me from an Equine Invasion!!
Please wish Imagine luck for her surgery on Monday, and I will update on this as soon as I hear.

TILLY

BEING FOSTERED IN BEXLEY HEATH, KENT

18-06-09 Tilly is a 4 year old Westie.  She an ex breeding dog who has always lived in kennels. She is a little fearful of new people and new places and has never gone for walks so will need a long time to settle and learn about her new life as a pet. Tilly has never lived without other dogs and would be very happy in the company of nearly any other furry friend so a home with a resident kind and gentle dog is a must for this little lady.

02-07-09 UPDATE

Tilly is playful, confident, happy.  She LOVES cuddles and kisses but can be startled by sudden noises.  She is a total sweetheart!

03-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

REAH

BEING FOSTERED IN BEXLEY HEATH, KENT

25-06-09 Reah is a 5 year old charming ex breeding yorkie.  She just never stops wagging, loves people and is a sweetheart. She is used to other dogs around but in the right hands could be happy if hardly ever left and with a very doting owner. She is however NOT house trained as she has never lived in a house before, so will require a home able to help her and she would learn loads quicker copying another dog. She also needs an older family as she is not used to all the noise that tiny kids create.

02-07-09 UPDATE

Reah is a tiny Yorkie who is full of beans!  She's a real character who constantly wags her tail and LOVES nothing more than to snuggle on a lap being lavished in kisses and strokes, wriggling around on her back. At the moment she isn’t too keen on sharing her attention but we are working on this and she has definitely improved. We may consider homing Reah as an only dog if someone was at home most of the day although she’ll still need socializing to overcome this jealousy.

Being fostered in Bexley Heath, Kent.   Please read our adoption procedures before applying. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Adoption Form. GERANIUM

BEING FOSTERED IN BEXLEY HEATH, KENT

26-05-09 Geranium is a 6 year old sweet ex breeding yorkie.  She is a dear little dog, but she will need time to learn about living in a house.  She will be very pretty in a little while when her coats longer.  Geranium needs love and patience and time and an existing dog at her new homes to learn from and snuggle up to.

12-06-09 UPDATE
Geranium has really overcome some huge hurdles already; she is very inquisitive and is now brave enough to start exploring the house in search of a stroke or two before trotting back into the kitchen to her bed. We are able to walk past her without her melting into the floor and she’ll now take treats very gently from our hands. She’s a brave little thing, very social, and has got on with all the dogs she has come across. She’s come such a long way in the short time we’ve had her - the only real way for this little lady is UP! All she wants is a quiet home with calm canine company to show her the way.

02-07-09 UPDATE

Geranium is settling well but still has quite a way to go. Although she is spending more time with us she is still very reserved. When approached by strangers she won’t bolt but would rather freeze with an expression of fear but if left she’ll eventually come round. She has no aggression or possessive issues. I can honestly say I haven’t fostered such frightened dogs before but having seen the hurdles she and Gucci have overcome so far, I’m confident that (given time and the right home) she’ll begin to thoroughly enjoy her life. A comfy bed in a quite house with calm canine company is all this lady needs.

GUCCI

BEING FOSTERED IN BEXLEY HEATH, KENT

26-05-09 Gucci is an 8 year old ex breeding Yorkie. She is a real sweetie and so interested in all that is going on around her.  She has never lived in a home and will take time to adjust and learn. She will need a confident, friendly and gentle dog  in her new life already in her new home to help her learn.

12-06-09 UPDATE
Gucci is fighting a few demons at the moment and struggling to forget her past. She certainly takes her strength from Geranium so needs to stand on her own 4 paws. She has stopped automatically bolting every time we come within 4 feet of her and now just sits waiting for us to pass. If sat quietly on the floor near her holding treats, she’ll bravely come over and gently take them from us but at this stage that is the only contact she is happy with. I can honestly say I haven’t fostered such frightened dogs as her and Geranium before but having seen the hurdles she has overcome so far, I’m confident that given time and the right home she’ll begin to thoroughly enjoy her life.  I have no doubt that she’ll improve and will find her forever home. A quiet home with calm canine company to show her the way is all this beautiful girl wants.

02-07-09 UPDATE

Gucci is improving but still has a substantial way to go. Food is the way to Gucci’s heart which aids with any trust building exercises. She is still painfully shy but has no aggression or possessive issues.  She happily shares her foster home with 2 children and 7 other small dogs. She isn’t at all keen on being picked up (she doesn’t nip, growl or bite, she’ll just struggle). All Gucci needs is a comfy bed in a quite house with calm canine company to allow her to do her own thing at her own pace and blossom.

LIONEL

BEING FOSTERED IN FLEET, HAMPSHIRE

07-06-09 Lionel is a young 10 year old shih tzu. He is a very sweet ex stud dog and all he wants is a very happy retirement home.  He will be best homed with another dog to help him learn about lead walking, house training etc.

02-07-09 UPDATE
What a truly super little dog Lionel is. He has settled into home life so quickly and easily. He seems to have got the hang of toilet training - only had a couple of accidents on the kitchen floor the first evening but nothing since. He walks very well on lead with my gang. I haven't let him off yet but he's happy trotting along beside me. He is a very confident little chap and greets all passing dogs in a very friendly manner. He wants to say hello but then is happy to move on without any fuss. He is fine with my very laid back cat, again curious but not pushy. I really think he is confident enough to be homed as an only dog as long as there is someone home with him for company or with a quiet canine friend or two who he can live peacefully with. I left him at my parents house this morning to see if he would cope without my other dogs and he was absolutely fine. He took himself outside when needed and was delighted to discover there were doggie biscuits at that house too!
I cannot believe that he is 10 years old as he's as bright as a button and generally very confident but calm and gentle. He is excellent in the car and has been left (with my three) in the house for a few hours with no issues at all. He has been quiet at night just 'gruffing' when my alarm goes off in the morning! Although we have no end of dog beds he only sleeps on the carpet and he hasn't even tried to go upstairs. Lionel really will make someone a fabulous companion as he's such a little star. I really hope he doesn't have to wait too long for that special someone to come forward for him.

Being fostered in Fleet, Hampshire.  Please read our adoption procedures before applying. Lionel is by donation only - please bear in mind that all our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and inoculated and your donation will help us save another dog.  If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Adoption Form.  To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked and you and all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog you want to adopt MUST come to meet the new dog.   If you have not had a response to your application within 24 hours please call Kevin between 10am and 3pm on 01249 655323.

NIGGLE

BEING FOSTERED IN BASINGSTOKE, HAMPSHIRE

09-06-09 Niggle is a beautiful 7 week old pup.  She and her brothers and sisters had a jack rustle for a mum and a "guess what" for a dad. They were a unwanted litter and we expect them to grow no bigger than a small spaniel size but who can tell?

02-07-09 UPDATE
Hello I thought I would tell you all about me. I am a super little girl, with lots of character. I am very good around other dogs, although they don't always like it when I chew their ears or tails!! I can now go out and see the big wide world, or the parts where my foster mum lives anyway! I don't like that long piece of fabric that hangs down my neck, I think its called a 'lead', but I am sure that I will get used to it very quickly. At the moment because I am so young, I have not mastered the technique of doing your business outside, but give me time and I will try very hard to learn. My foster mum thinks that I will make a brilliant dog to train because I am so food orientated. If she calls me, I already come running, especially if there is a small treat waiting for me. I will write again soon, if I have not found my 'forever home'.

TOBIE

BEING FOSTERED IN ABERDARE, MID GLAMORGAN

21-06-09 Tobie is a BEAUTIFUL gentle clever happy confident dog friendly collie type.  He is 9 months old and just  a delight. His old owners were not able to give him the time he needed.  Tobie is a VERY bright boy and is one of those dogs you could do everything with as he was born to please.  He does still puppy chew when left alone too long but in the right home, with the right training Tobie will end up being the most wonderful friend.  He would love a home who would take him on long walks in the country or maybe do agility, obedience or flyball with him - this is one super boy so come and meet him!

27-06-09 UPDATE

Tobie is a lovely boy. He enjoys playing with all the other dogs here and is very sweet with all the staff, he has al ot of energy and enjoys having something fun to do, whether it's going for long walks or doing agility - anything will please this boy. He is very easy to train and is very fast at picking things up. All he wants now is a home to call his own.

02-07-09 UPDATE

Hi everyone, I've been in my foster home now for a few days and my foster mum can't believe how well I've settled in. She is new to this fostering lark! I share my new pad with two children aged 12 and 10, 2 fluffy felines and my 2 good friends- a lurcher and jack russell. I get on great with everyone in the house, love playing and don't take any notice of the grumpy cats. I travel well in the car and jump in happily to go on outings. I am 100% house trained and non-destructive in the house. I love my walks and have been going on lots of outings with my foster mum, some times with my friends and at other times on my own. I greet everyone politely and with good manners. I have great recall and do all the basic commands such as stay, sit etc. I am sometimes a little nervous of strange humans when they visit, and it can take me a little while to get used to them being around. We are working on this, with lots of praise and treats- I do love my food !! My foster mum says I'm a super little dog who would make a fantastic addition to an active family.

03-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

SCAMP

BEING FOSTERED IN ABERPORTH, WALES

01-06-09 Scamp has very sadly been returned to us as he clashed with another dog in the house. He is such a sweet and loving dog and his family loved him so much they were in floods of tears at leaving him but they couldn't they control his arguments with the other dog. Scamp will live perfectly happy with other dogs but is a bit of a lad and does need quite strict boundaries.  He loves kids and would be ideal for a family, we are also happy to home him without another dog and he would love to get all the attention to himself.  He is a beautiful boy and a stunning colour so it won't be hard to shower him with the love he craves.

02-07-08 UPDATE
Scamp is an absolute delight to have with us. Since he has been with me (48hrs) he has learnt to sit, fetch, down etc. He is the friendliest dog I have ever met. He is always happy 24/7. He is a pleasure to have and would make the most perfect family dog. He is extremely intelligent and loves to learn new things. Anyone who wants an amazing family pet should chose Scamp. He is good with children, adults and other dogs. He walks perfectly off the lead and is hardly ever on the lead as he has no interest in other people or other dogs. He loves the beach and we go every night, his favourite is chasing the ball and will run for hours. When he is at home he sleeps unless you want him to play and then he will play. He is a perfect little dog and is completely house trained and does not chew at all and to say he will be two years old next month shows how advanced he is for his age and how clever he is. Scamp needs a home he can call his own with his own family. He is a delight to have and all I hope is that he gets adopted soon as he deserves a good home and the love he will give in return is immense.

COOL

BEING FOSTERED IN WARRINGTON

18-09-08 Cool is a beautiful 4 year old husky. He is an ex stud dog no longer required. He is good with the dogs he has met here and though scared has been very good with us too.

21-10-08 UPDATE

Cool is thriving and has made new friends and will even start to play now. Many dogs initially find Cool scary with his blue eyes but he soon wins them over.  Cool  is really trying to be a "proper" dog but now needs a home to learn the rest in.

11-10-08 UPDATE

Cool loves to play and his confidence with strangers is improving.  Due to the fact he is a specialist breed and is looking for a home with suitable experience he will be homed by donation only.   CLICK HERE to see his slide show.

13-01-09 UPDATE

Cool is of to his foster home with Pete today. We hope that living with Pete will encourage a good owner to come forward as he has been in kennels a long while.  Although he is still worried at new situations Cool is now more confident on the lead, loves treats and is enjoying our company. He will make a smashing dog but will need time to help him reach his full potential.

14-01-09 UPDATE

We got back home safely although Cool was VERY stressed most of way back but was a bit better after we stopped for a bacon butty!  He's VERY nervous round the house and wouldn't come upstairs or in from outside without a lead on.  He slept in the kitchen last night and would not leave his bed when I got up this morning but after breakfast and walk he is exploring the house a bit.  He has marked a few times which is kind of a good sign but I'll be glad when he settles and it it stops!!!  I'll keep you posted.

19-01-09 UPDATE

Cool has settled in well and has quickly learnt the house rules (well he won't wipe his feet on the way in but it's early days yet!).  Towns and busy places are hard work for Cool and he doesn't understand why we live in such noisy places.  However, he does like sitting in the "safe" house watching the world go!  I think he liked the ducks but didn't know he cannot walk on water!

17-02-09 UPDATE

The last few weeks have been tough for Cool but he has coped like a true champion.  I've taken him with me on jobs and to many new places and at first he has been stressed and scared but I can really see a different in him when we walk round what is now "his" local area.  It has taken a few weeks and he has a way to go but his tail now hangs on walks instead of being tucked up against his stomach. He loves to run with me and is very good when we go out on the pushbike but FAST!
He lets me know when he needs the loo and when he thinks it's time for food and now in the car he mostly just curls up behind the seat and sleeps.  He is good in other people's homes as long as he gets a seat (on the sofa). He has also been spending time with a local family (thank you) and as long as they are calm and respect him, he's happy for them to climb on him and snuggle up even falling asleep at times.
He still sleep's downstairs as his forever home might not want him sleeping on the bed's but he would make a fantastic hot water bottle. All he is looking for is kindness, love and understanding with a few walks thrown in to keep him mentally and physically fit.  In return you will get unconditional love and loyalty from a stunning head turning dog with a personality to match.

02-07-09 UPDATE
We a so sorry that Cool is now reavailable.  This boy has come so far and now really does need his forever home.  So if you are an experienced dog owner, do not have small dogs, cats or other small furry animals and are prepared to offer Cool the loving forever home he so deserves then please completed the application form asap.

Being fostered in Warrington.  Please read our adoption procedures before applying. Cool is by donation only - please bear in mind that all our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and inoculated and your donation will help us save another dog.  If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Adoption Form.  To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked and you and all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog you want to adopt MUST come to meet the new dog.   If you have not had a response to your application within 24 hours please call our foster office between 10am and 3pm on 01249 655323.

TESS

01-07-09 Tess is a very sweet but very needy 12 week old lurcher pup. We have been  been given her as her young owner was not really in a position to keep her. She probably is very disorientated at present, and cried all night. She hates being in a kennel and cries all the time for cuddles. Whoever takes her on will have to work through these issues or otherwise she will grow up a hard dog to live with. She may be better if homed with another dog but if you know your canine behaviour and want a highly intelligent, very affectionate but rather damaged pup to help and love - please call us asap.

This dog is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying. We are unable to return phone calls so please try again if your call is not answered.

04-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

NIMBUS

NIMBUS IS NOT BEING REHOMED UNTIL HIS LEG HAS HEALED.  WE WILL UPDATE ON HERE WHEN HE'S READY AND PLEASE CALL KEVIN ON 01249 655323 BETWEEN 10AM AND 4PM AT THAT TIME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HIM.

BEING FOSTERED NEAR MANY TEARS IN SOUTH WALES

09-06-09 Nimbus is a 3 year old German Shepherd.  He is a lovely boy with a smashing temperament. He's been found as a stray and has really been in the wars but despite his open wound obviously being quite painful for him he is completely tolerant of us handling him and treating the wound. He went straight in to see our vet soon after these pictures and we will update the website when we know more about his treatment. Nimbus is brilliant with other dogs and even better with people, although we've no known history for him we wouldn't see any problem homing him with children.

01-07-09 UPDATE

We've had Nimbus at home with us now for just over two weeks, mainly to look after his wound. It's healing very well and we expect it to be completely healed within the next week or two. Nimbus gets on extremely well with the four dogs we already have, which are males and females, he shows an interest in our cats but nothing at all nasty and they mostly have stayed upstairs out of his way. He has been such a gentle boy during his stay with us, even when we have been tending to his bad leg which must have caused him some pain, he gave us no reason for concern.
Nimbus' has been very responsive to training and has quickly learnt to take food nicely, sit, and is progressing well not pulling on the lead when being walked. He enjoys his food and has put on some much needed weight and shows no sign of aggression with us or the other dogs over food. He’s slept with and without our dogs throughout the night and there hasn’t been a single problem. He is completely housetrained.
While with us he hasn’t met any young children but he has been absolutely fine with both our boys, aged 11 and 14 and their friends. Nimbus is a big dog with an even bigger heart, the only thing he’s lacking is a wonderful family to call his own which would make this beautiful boy happy.

TONY

BEING FOSTERED IN RINGWOOD, HAMPSHIRE

18-06-09 Tony is a 1 year old whippet cross.  He is a sweet little guy who was born and lived on a farm until today. Tony was probably bred and bought to be used for lamping or coursing and the chances are he was too nice or too slow and didn't make for good sport. Lucky for Tony as now he can find a good home instead.  He seems very good with other dogs and is brilliant with people. He's never been for walks and so needs to learn not to fear a lead but this will come quite quickly.

01-07-09 UPDATE

Adorable, handsome, trusting Tony has only been with us a little over 48 hours but he has just melted so easily into our pack, with no hang-ups at all, just a natural willingness to please and be one of the gang. He has little experience of the world, and is just a little wary of getting into the car, not surprising really as our rabble get noisily excited when they know they are off to the forest, but he is very good on the lead, even though the others are leaping about off-lead! This guy is one laid back, cool dude who calmly and sensibly avoids any sign of trouble. He has perfect manners and just loves a good cuddle, showing absolutely no signs of aggression or jealousy, despite the fact that he is sharing our affections with several other canines. He is already quite playful, and has discovered the joys of the toy basket, preferring the soft furry toys that he can throw around. He came to socialise at an agility class and quickly made friends with all the other dogs, enjoying a good game of chase with a Patterdale puppy. He has also met some kids in the park and positively basked in their attention. He has loads of love to offer, and would happily live with other dogs or as a loyal, loving one-to-one companion. We love him already!

TREACLE

BEING FOSTERED IN FISHGUARD

29-05-09 Treacle is a stunning 4yr old Husky X Lab who has been a much loved family pet to the same family since she was 8 weeks old. Treacle has lived with other dogs all her life but would probably be happiest as an only dog as she can be bullied a bit by her canine friends. She is great with kids and has lived with a small baby for over a year. She is house trained, has lovely manners and is in great condition.
Treacle's owner is very sad indeed to have to part with her but feels she needs a home with people who can give her more time and attention and where she won't get pushed about by other dogs.  She needs a secure garden as she has wandered off in the past - although her owner feels that with plenty of walks and attention she may well not do this in future.
Treacle is looking for a family without cats or farm livestock as she would chase them at the moment. She is the size of a large lab, with the most uniquely beautiful eyes!

05-06-09 UPDATE
Treacle has settled well into our routine here and is a very friendly, good natured girl. She gets on well with other dogs, is FAB with my children and walks well on a lead. She does enjoy car rides but can get a little over excited. She has met my cat with innocent curiosity - but if my cat had run away then Treacle would have chased after her thinking it was wonderful game! She sits, gives paw, lies down and stays on command - and enjoys working for you and learning new things. Treacle can be left for reasonable periods but does prefer to be with you as much as possible. She is house trained. In short - if you are looking for an affectionate, well behaved, beautiful dog .. then Treacle's your girl!

14-06-09 UPDATE

Hiya folks, Treacle here! Just wanted to let you know that I'm still waiting so patiently for my new forever home. My foster Mum says I am being ever so good - in fact I am one of the easiest foster dogs she has ever had - but with bags of personality!  Come on, fill in the application form!
Love n Licks, Treacle x x x

01-07-09 UPDATE
We took Treacle for a hike along the beaches and coastal paths of Pembrokeshire yesterday and she had a wonderful time!!! The weather was warm so she loved to dip in and out of the streams to cool down. We took her off-lead in safe areas and she enjoyed her freedom, diving into bushes to see what she could find but did come back to us whenever we called. She was great with all the walkers and their dogs we met. She did show an interest in the sheep she could hear but not see and wanted to investigate - but when given a firm "No" and "come" she ignored them. Treacle loves to learn, she has now learnt to "Wave" amongst other tricks! I really do hope she finds her new forever home soon as she truly deserves it.

ICE

BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHAMPTON

04-06-09 Ice is a 7 year old Bichon who has come to us from a breeder. She unfortunately is blind in one eye as you can see from the picture but also has limited sight in her good eye. We hope that her eyes just aren't up to the sunny day we're having today and her eyesight will improve but she will really need an extra special owner who already has a kind and gentle dog to help her.

UPDATE
Ice had now seen the vet who has said she is completely blind.  This is a very special girl who needs a fosterer close to an eye specialist that charges competitive, good rates and we need the funds
 to help us help her.

19-06-09 UPDATE

Ice has now seen the specialist eye vet.  As suspected there is no sight in the left eye which has gone white and sunk slightly. Probably due to a trauma some time ago.
There is no treatment for this as she is not in pain or has any infection in that eye.
Her right eye however has some cataract, not as a solid disc in the eye, but fragmented, lots of little pieces causing her to see as if through 'ground glass' very obscure.
The eye does respond to light but if the retina is ok, a cataract removal operation looks possible.  Ice will eye drops to prepare the eye for cataract surgery on 30th June.
They will have first check the retina is ok and if it is they will remove the cataract.  So Ice is booked for her operation and we are keeping everything crossed that the retina is OK and she will have the chance of sight.
Ice is a very sweet girl who has a happy waggy tail when she hears my voice, she is already happy to go inside and out of all the external doors without any help.  She bumbles around the garden, never really taking any notice of the other dogs.  Ado really wants to play, and lays down in front of Ice, but she always turns away if she notices anything in front of her, so Ado runs around in front of her again, throwing herself on her back, still no response from Ice, and after a couple more attempts Ado gives up!  Maybe when Ice can see they can play. I hope so.
Ice has been so good and appears to be perfectly house trained, not a single accident, she even goes to the back door to be let out! Not bad for a blind dog!

01-07-09 UPDATE
We are very sad to report that this beautiful little girl will sadly have to spend the rest of her days in darkness. Although at the moment she reacts when her eye dropper is coming closer, and knows when we turn out the light at night she will eventually loose even this glimmer of sight and become totally blind. She is so sweet natured and such a beautiful dog this is so very sad.
The vet has said there has been trauma in the past in her white eye which has possibility effected the other eye.  The vet found that the retina was not working and although the pupil reacted to light , no electric signals were being received in the brain. Therefore the cataract operation did not go ahead.
Ice also has ongoing medical problems such as the Struvite in her water, which she is on antibiotics for the next 6 weeks or so, along with a special urinary diet to break down the crystals.  At the end of this period Ice will have a further water test to make sure the Struvite has gone but she will always need to be on  a lower mineral diet to stop any more crystals forming in the future.  Ice also has developed a patch of wet eczema just under her white eye and is on medication for this.

Being fostered in Southampton.   Please read our adoption procedures before applying. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Adoption Form. SEEK

30-06-09 Seek is an 8 week old Bischon pup. I wish I could say he  was perfect but alas he is not. Having had Bischon pups from various places all exactly the same I know that he cannot have any operation to help him. He has fused hocks so very straight hind legs with no bend. He therefore shuffles to walk but does manage fine. I truly do not know whether he will live a long and happy life or if this will affect other areas but the thing is he is happy now and can have as long as God grants him being a special baby for some person.  If applying please be sure you understand what you are taking on.

SPRUCE

30-06-09 Spruce is an 8 month old Dalmatian. He was returned to the breeder when it was found he was deaf. We were then given the dog. He is a lovely dog, but he needs to be socialized more, and when stressed does not know how load he is crying. He will need a special home with another dog to be best friends with and to hear for him. He will be by donation.

SANGAREE

30-06-09 Sangaree is a 4 year old yellow lab ex breeding bitch. She has never been walked on a lead and Steve had to carry her to her kennel. She is very sweet and gentle. She will need an existing dog already living in her new home to learn from and to be her friend.

SELDOM

30-06-09 Seldom is a 3½ year old ex breeding bitch. She gave birth to one dead pup 2 days ago so was given to us to find a loving home for. She does not know how to walk on a lead and she has no idea about living in a home and all the noises and things home life present so will need a kind, patient and gently owner to love her. Having said that this is a dear sweet soul who will reward you tenfold for all the love you give her. We are looking for a home with a good canine friend for her and who will be role leading influence.

SANDALWOOD

30-06-09 Sandalwood is a 3½ year old very over weight ex breeding lab bitch. She does not know about walking on a lead or home living. She will need a home with a friendly outward going dog to teach her the ropes, give her confidence and be her friend. She also will need a weight watchers regime.

SCRUMPY

30-06-09 Scrumpy is a poor sweet 11 month old cocker. She has bad mange but we are treating this. She will be a beautiful dog with time but will need that time to get better. She has also been living in a breeding kennels and so has never lived in a home. She will need another dog as a role model and to be her friend. She has not got the type of mange that is catching so other dogs will be safe.

02-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

CAIO

21-06-09 Caio (pronounced Kai Oh) is a boxer cross lab, a friendly and happy guy who's nearly 2 years old. Caio and his best friend Grace's family have lost their home and have nowhere to go. This lovely boy has been very well look after and much loved and it really shows. He's used to living in a house with his people, he's perfectly housetrained, brilliant with children and even better with other dogs.

30-06-09 UPDATE
What can I say about this beautiful dog? Yes, his tongue really is that long, he could practically clean out his own ears! He is a bit of a rough diamond but, with a bit of polishing, he's going to shine. Firstly, he is a big boy, around 26 inches at the shoulder and he is strong. More importantly, his temperament is very sound and he is fine with other dogs, children and adults but he seems to prefer male humans.
He is not destructive,  is fully housetrained and has certainly been loved but without discipline and he is unfocused and needs to learn self-control, both things we are working on.
Caio would love a job, something like agility would suit him just fine. He needs a home with children over 10 years old, just because he is a big boy and when excited jumps up.  He would be best homed without a cat and could be happy without canine company provided he has human company.  He needs patience, clear boundaries, lots of play to help him focus and consistency. But most of all he needs someone to appreciate what a stunning, special, intelligent dog he is. Caio loves being brushed, you can touch him all over and he's putty in your hands.  Caio is an incredible dog.

NETTLE

BEING FOSTERED IN SWANSEA

09-06-09 Nettle is a sweet fellow.  He looks like a pup by this picture but he is a 3 year old GSD. He has come in as was unwanted. I don't think he has had much luck lately and seems a little lost and unsure of what's to come. By tomorrow he will know how much he is loved and he will start to smile again.
Nettle talked all through his bath. He did not really enjoy it so kept giving his paw (hence his bather got soaked).  He was never nasty just unhappy about getting so wet.  He then went for a lovely walk where he walked well on a lead with little reminder. The walker said he is a dog full of character and a dog who loves human attention.   He may well be a dog that is passed by but please look deep into his eyes I am sure he could be a very loyal friend.

19-06-09 UPDATE

I wouldn't usually write an update on a dog we have had for less than a week but this boy is so special that I feel he needs an early write up! Nettle must have been someone's much loved boy at some point in his life as he has been very well trained.  He knows sit, stay, down, come and shake paw and his manners are impeccable. He meets all dogs with the utmost politeness however they approach him.  We had another GSD run at him excitedly wanting a game and he just stood there calmly until I told him it was ok to play.  Other dogs have barked and jumped up him and he's remained calm and polite and played beautifully with them.  His best friend (other than my three year old son who is his favourite among my children) is my 7 month old lab pup and they play for hours, always nicely even though my pup is lacking in manners sometimes.
I've thrown everything at this boy, children from 3 to 8yrs, dogs of all ages and sizes, hens and horses (both of which he totally ignored after an initial sniff) and the only two things he showed any reaction to was my cats who he chased but was soon halted with a firm "no" and he dropped like a stone to the ground, and a male visitor who he barked at but then settled with as soon as he realised that he had been invited into the house.
He is wonderful with food, sits and waits, eats gently and is willing for me to take the bowl away and add food to it, he is also totally happy with you taking his toys and chews.  He doesn't make a sound at night, hasn't chewed anything and was quiet when I had to leave him to go out, he is a star.
The only slight thing I have (and I have to have one!) is that he does jump up sometimes. BUT very carefully - he lightly places his feet on you and all I have to say is "down" and move forward and he moves away.  I have to stress how gently he does this which is so unlike me being thumped in the chest by my lab boy when he's over excited!
Nettle really doesn't suit him.  He really should be "Gentleman Jim". He walks beautifully with minimum correction and his recall has been excellent when I've let him off on the tennis courts although I haven't tried him in open spaces yet as he hasn't been with us that long yet and I don't want to tempt fate! Needless to say he's totally clean in the house, even during a bout of diarrhoea he cried to go out rather than dirty in the house.  He is so affectionate, never pushy but always ready for a cuddle and when the children are in bed and its mum and dog time he will take his place at my side with his head in my lap and let me massage his ears but be willing to move when one of the others decides its their turn.
I have cried for this lovely boy as he had a loving home once and yet he found himself thin, confused and at the centre - he only wants to please.  I certainly don't understand so how can he? If you like leggy, soppy dogs and like to take a couple of gentle walks a day with a dog that is well trained and yet has kept his character then please give a thought to Nettle.  He's already stolen our hearts will he steal yours?

30-06-09 UPDATE
This lovely boy is still waiting for his forever home and I'm at a total loss as to why.  He's been such a star, I tried him off the lead in the woods last week and his recall was excellent, he just came back and stood waiting for his lead to be put on. He loves leaping around in the river and giving me a thorough soaking and chasing the birds off the path. He also passed "the pushchair test" with flying colours (he walks along with the pushchair containing my three year old at a gentle pace without pulling) I really can't fault this boy! He was a little nervous in traffic and of meeting men in the street but with a little reassurance that's no longer the case and now everyone we meet is greeted with much tail wagging and a lick (if he can get away with it!). He will guard my house and living quite a way off the beaten track it's something I'm grateful for and as soon as he knows that it's a visitor at the door and not anyone sinister then he greets them like a long lost friend!
He remains polite and calm with other dogs and loves nothing more than a game of chase (with him being the one being chased!) but is gentle with them all and is absolutely super with Questa my foster pup and there a BIG difference in size there! I'm really amazed as to why he's still with me as he's the perfect dog for just about anyone, great with children, dogs of all sizes, even my hens are safe with him, although he really would like to get his paws on my cats! Surely someone out there is looking for a real gentleman of a dog.  He's right here waiting for you.

02-07-08 BEING HOME VETTED

RUFFLES

BEING FOSTERED IN FLEET, HAMPSHIRE

25-06-09 Ruffles is a 20 month old collie. She is a failed working dog who is too sweet to chase the sheep and wants to be cuddled and fussed over instead. She is no use to her farmer and she  and her sister both need forever homes where they can be taught how to live as pets. She is very good with other dogs, should be safe to live with cats and although she has no real experience of living with children she is so good natured that we would home her with nice children without a second thought.
Ruffles will need a home with another dog to help her learn about living in a house and to be her friend and give her confidence.

30-06-09 UPDATE

Ruffles is a babe she is very affectionate with her family although a little shy to all she meets both humans and canines. She eats well and has no aggression there whatsoever, she even let me take three bones from her mouth on day two with us that she found while we were out walking. She is terrified to get into the car and has been travel sick but once she is in the car she settles quite quickly and we are working on this daily with her. She is submissive and very sensitive so needs to be handled in a calm patient manner and be taught the basics firstly without expecting too much of her to start with as she adjusts to a pet life.
She does not like raised voices and still has much to learn about being a family pet so I feel she will need someone to be at home most of the day with her as she very much enjoys and craves human contact. She is left a little over 2 hours a day mixing with my pack and she is fine with that and non destructive. She is a very homely little dog and she chooses to stay indoors even when the door is open and she is free to roam about outside but will stay outside as long as she has someone with her. I also feel she would be better to be homed with another kind gentle dog as her confidence plummets without them.  For example she lays flat on the floor and splays out if I try to take her out of the house alone but yet trots out happily as part of our pack. Walking on a lead needs work but she is a fast learner and getting better by the day. She enjoys woodland walks very much but is still nervous with road walking and the sights and sounds but that will come in time it's still very early day's yet.
Ruffles sadly has no idea at the moment what a toy is or what to do with one but has taken great pleasure in chewing a nyla bone. We have not cat tested her so have no idea how she would get on with cats. She is almost there with her house training and learns quickly from having another dog to follow. Handled with care and compassion Ruffles will become a happy well adjusted little dog but you MUST have the time to give her to bring her on. She is stunning, clever, willing, loving and loyal and she already has her Foster Family well and truly under her spell!

02-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

SPENCER

BEING FOSTERED IN AMMANFORD, WALES

15-06-09 Spencer is a 3 year old Springer. Spencer has been living with a family for 2 years but yesterday bit the husband. Spencer has never bitten any one else and has actually been allowed to role around the floor and play with children but he has bitten the husband a few times. He bites when confronted, or over possessions. He needs an active home that understand springers . Some time in his past he must have had a mistrust of men, or at least one that looked like the husband. Other men have got along fine with him. He greeted us with love and enthusiasm and whined and cried as his owners left him, so there is a lot of good in this poor fellow. We are not charging an adoption fee as we are so worried he is going to get stuck here.

29-06-09 UPDATE
Spencer has now been with me 48 hours and I can report that since he's arrived his tail hasn't stopped wagging!  He is fully house trained and there has been no accidents in the house.  He is clearly used to going in a crate as he happily goes straight into it when asked.  He sleeps in his crate at night in the kitchen with my other dogs without any problem.  There would be no problem leaving him home alone as I've already done so and he didn't seem at all troubled by it.  He does tug a bit on the lead but I'm working on this.  This can be easily remedied with a 'nose' harness'.  When we have been on our walks he's been interested in other dogs but has shown no aggression.  And when I have stopped to chat to other people he just quietly sits by my side.  I will not let him off his lead for a couple of weeks as I want him to settle into his new environment.  He's not interested in playing with my dogs and has told them off for trying, therefore, I would recommend that he be homed as an only dog or with one of a similar size to him.  I must confess I was amazed at how big Spencer is, lab size.  So far he's been very responsive to basic commands; i.e. sit, stay, wait and come.  He is very loving and comes across as placid and sweet-natured.

Being fostered in Ammanford, South Wales.  Please read our adoption procedures before applying. Spencer is by donation only - please bear in mind that all our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and inoculated and your donation will help us save another dog.

03-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

KELLOGG

BEING FOSTERED IN SWANSEA

06-06-09 Little Kellogg is an 18 month old westie who was brought to us today by a breeder. She's only got 3 legs but she manages just fine, she was attacked by another dog in kennels and was so badly injured that she needed an operation. Kellogg is a sweet girl but is very nervous of people and hasn't any experience of pet life. She doesn't know how to walk on a lead and isn't housetrained.  She will need the company and guidance of another dog who is settled and well balanced and can help teach her how to be loved.

22-06-09 UPDATE
Kellogg has been with us for just over a week, at first she was very timid but she soon realised just how good a home can be.  She is a lot more relaxed now and loves being out in the garden and being around my 2 dogs who she gets a lot of confidence from. House training is really good with no accidents recently. Kellogg is happy around children and has learnt that its best not to nag my cat. She still needs a lot more training with regards to lead walking - she's not keen on this but I don't think it will take too much longer.
When I first saw Kellogg only had 3 legs I felt sorry but believe me you wouldn't know when you saw her charging around the garden!  She more than keeps up with my 2 cavs. She loves cuddles and grooming and sleeps quietly downstairs all night. All in all she is a lovely girl with a lot of love to give and once again we have all fallen in love.

29-06-09 UPDATE
Kellogg continues to do very well, her lead walking has improved greatly and she now enjoys going for a walk. Kellogg is a lovely, affectionate little girl who enjoys all that is going on. I hope that that people are not put off by her only having 3 legs as she is not affected at all. She has plenty of energy and is typical of a westie. She eats well and can be left for short periods of time with no problem. We had another little foster dog in on Friday who was very scared and she was perfect with her and is now living with 3 cavs with no issues at all. Kellogg travels well in the car and is perfect with children.  We have an 8 year old daughter and Kellogg adores her so don't delay or you will miss out on a super little girl.

Being fostered in Swansea.   Please read our adoption procedures before applying. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Adoption Form. ROISIN

BEING FOSTERED IN OXFORDSHIRE

19-05-09 Roisin is a 2 year old lurcher. She has not had a loving warm home, good meals and the affection she so deserved. She is good with dogs but not cats. She is very underweight and her coat is dull. We will feed her on Burns give her Burns fish bites to get her coat shining and teach her how humans can love.

30-05-09 UPDATE

Roisin is playful and loving. She adores being loved and revels in chase games or being chased games. she is a very sweet lurcher who looks mostly like a greyhound.  She has put on some weight and her coat is improving all the time.  There must be someone who can offer this wonderful girl a home and show her what she's been missing out on all her life.

29-08-09 UPDATE
Roisin is a lovely dog who has a super nature and loves her cuddles.  She is very gentle and loves other dogs but will chase livestock and small furries so a home without cats, rabbits etc is needed.  Roisin travels well in car, she is not quite house trained but this is getting better every day.  Off lead she doesn't come back when called but does come back in her own time so this needs to be worked on. She eats well, loves to play and is good with children but would be best homed with older ones as she might knock small ones over.

Being fostered in Oxfordshire.   Please read our adoption procedures before applying. 28-06-09 Ben is a 10 month old Springer Spaniel.  His previous owners live in a flat and don't have room for him. Ben is a nervous dog who hasn't been properly socialised and needs to meet more people before he's happy around strangers.  Ben is very good with other dogs however and would be the perfect companion and playmate for another dog -  male or female.

02-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

PADDY

BEING FOSTERED IN ABERYTSTWYTH, MID WALES

18-04-09  Paddy was adopted 5 months ago and his owners loved him very much. He is an 18 month old, medium sized, cross breed, a real cuddle monster, is super with people, is well behaved indoors, fully house trained and loves going out on walks. However Paddy has strong hunt and chase instincts and sadly they felt their cat was at risk from him. Paddy was also starting to become quite challenging with some (not all) other dogs when on lead. When off lead, if he sees another dog he wants to play with, he goes in full pelt to chase and rough and tumble, which, of course, doesn’t always go down well with other dog owners.
His owners have worked on his training since having him and Paddy is now generally good at basic commands, lead work and recall so long as there are no major distractions. He would probably be best in an adult home or one with teenage children.  He has had a number of training sessions with an animal behaviourist and who felt he is very responsive and trainable.

19-05-09 UPDATE

Paddy has made himself at home.  He’s like a little cuddly bear.  He has stopped playing as if his life depends on it and has settled down well with the others, although still a very happy chappy and playful.  He loves people and other dogs.  He eats with the pack, waits for his food and has learned not to interfere with the others 90% of the time.
We go out with other dogs and haven’t had any problems on the lead, but he does know them. We have only tried him off lead a couple of times, well away from traffic and sheep and it has been a bit nerve racking because he does turn and run when you try to get him back, we turn the other way to ensure he comes back and he does tend to stay with the pack.  In the garden he can now play with our Mr Grumpy but has also learned to give him space in the house.  His recall from the garden with a whistle (and a treat) is brilliant. There’s no real aggression but he can be assertive. He gets upset when all the others are off lead and running free when he can’t and at those times you realise that he’s not a quiet dog and he’s very strong.
He communicates often with lots of different vocal sounds and I’ve noticed that he occasionally imitates sounds we make as best he can.  He’s very funny, a real character and just gorgeous. The bit about him not going on furniture has gone by the wayside I’m afraid as you can see.

02-06-09 UPDATE

There has been no interest in Paddy.  He is very much in need of his forever home so that he can settle down and become part of a family.  He loves people and seems good with children as well, although a bit boisterous for small ones.  His interest in cats is very strong and I wouldn’t recommend homing him with one.   He is good with other dogs as far as we can tell when off lead, on lead he is OK most of the time.  He took a little while to adjust to the new environment, but housetraining is now 100%.   On his own, his lead walking is fine, he pulls more when other dogs are off lead, but that is understandable, and hold very hard if he sees a cat!   He salivated in the car initially but now travels happily with the other dogs.  We haven’t tested him home alone, but I would expect that he would adjust quickly to short times alone.   I’ve revised the Fort Knox comment on the garden – he isn’t so much of an escape artist as his sister, who we also have, but the garden will need to be reasonably secure.  I won’t pretend that he is the easiest dog in the world, he needs boundaries, but he does learn quickly, and is a real character, full of life, and certainly easier than some we have had in the past.  It would be lovely if he could find a new home for the summer.

28-06-09 UPDATE
Sadly Paddy was returned from his foster home today for chasing livestock. Paddy is an incredibly beautiful dog who really is in need of his forever home.  He needs somewhere without cats and away from livestock and an owner who is prepared to work with him.  If you can offer Paddy this kind of home please call us as soon as possible.

QI

28-06-09 Qi (meaning rare jade in Japanese) is an 18 month old dear little Jack Russell. No one owned her so she took up residence in a shed. It was there she had 6 pups. The sheds owner fed them all and Qi would wander back and forth.  She is a sweet but scared little lady who very briefly was rehomed but returned because she chases cats so needs a home without any.

27-06-09 Kizzy is an 8 year old collie.  She is a lovely girl who is seriously overweight due to lack of exercise. She has been kept outside during the day and is used to being left for up to and over 10 hours a day. Despite being alone for such long periods she never barks or howls and isn't destructive at all. She is a very playful dog who adores chasing sticks and balls.  Her owners said that if you're holding a stick then the rest of the world doesn't exist. Kizzy is good with other dogs, has experience of children and is housetrained.

30-06-09 BEING HOME VETTED

WENDY

BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHAMPTON

05-05-09 Wendy is a collie cross. She is slightly smaller than a usual collie and has a bob tail. She is very quiet at the moment but wants us to cuddle her. This poor baby does not know why she has been thrown away when she would have given her heart and soul for that very same person.

08-05-09 UPDATE

Wendy is a little gem. A really intelligent, obedient girl who would chase balls all day. She is living very happily with a male and a female but might clash with a very dominant female.

02-06-09 UPDATE
Wendy is a very loving dog who only wants to please, she obviously hasn't had a great deal of training as she can be a little mischievous. She is a fun lively dog who loves a cuddle and enjoys company. She is fantastic with my six year old son and does not cry or whine when left downstairs at night time and can be left for reasonable periods during the day
She is good with other dogs but has not met cats.  She is house trained but does not ask to go out so you have to remember to let her out at regular times.  Wendy is naughty where food is concerned, although she will not take Holly's food (our other dog) she will quite happily take food out of anyone's unsuspecting hand particularly children.  She will learn that this is not acceptable but will need a firm hand and an owner with patience.
Wendy loves walks and to chase a ball although does get distracted very easily. Wendy is a happy loving character who needs a family home ideally with lots of love and patience.

27-06-09 UPDATE
Good with dogs: Yes (but likes to be boss)
 Good with children: Yes
Housetrained: Yes (most of the time)
 Left alone: Yes

Wendy needs a home as soon as possible as she's been waiting a long time.  She is a very affectionate girl who requires lots of love.  She is a funny little character who loves to be in amongst it all. Would be ideal for a family home but possibly with no other dogs as she can be quite dominant. She tries hard to please and will do anything for a treat or a hug.

ISIS

BEING FOSTERED IN BRISTOL

04-06-09 Isis is a 6 year old Bichon who has come to us from a breeder after having all the litters she can. She is a little nervous at the moment but will learn to love people.  She will need a home where there is at least one other kind and gentle dog to help her learn about house training, lead walking etc.

27-06-09 UPDATE

Isis is eating well and seems to be settling in with the dogs here.  She is almost house-trained with only the odd 'accident'.  She sleeps in a dog-bed in my bed-room, because she does n't like sleeping alone downstairs at night.  she loves spending time in the garden, and sleeping on the lawn! Each day she is here she gains in confidence, she now greets me with other dogs when i come in from the shops. In  a quiet household, with a steady companion dog she will make a wonderful pet.

Being fostered in Lawrence Weston, Bristol.   Please read our adoption procedures before applying. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Adoption Form. ALFIE

25-06-09 Alfie is an ex breeding stud yorkie.  He is 7 years old, a large yorkie  and a lovely fellow.  He has been returned by his adopters as they did not feel he has settled well in their home and suffered from separation anxiety.  He has gone into a foster home were he can be assessed and see how he does.  He is a frightened boy but nevertheless an easy lad as all he wants to do is stay near you and sit on the settee with you.  He would do well with a quiet older home where someone is at home for most of the day but does HAVE to have another, small, friendly dog as he really needs at least one doggy companion.

27-06-09 UPDATE

Alfie came to me 5 days ago, and has been very quiet and is spending quite a lot of time under the dining table. His adopters said he did the same with them. He also will run if you approach him quickly or put your hand towards him, he is completely safe though, just nervous. So he would need a calm household, and most definitely one or more friendly, calm dog as a friend to him.
He loves to sit next to me on the settee and will push himself up really close, loving it if you scratch his back or tummy.  The photo of him (at the back) on the settee is with my boy yorkie and he does like being near him - he is certainly looking for a doggy friend, and a loving owner. He is great to walk, and doesn't go far from you when off the lead, he doesn't take any notice of cats (and there was a cat in his adopters home), and is non destructive in the home.
When left at his adopters he would mark from anxiety as it was like he was left 'home alone' as he hadn't bonded with their greyhound, but here he seems fine when left (I have 4 small dogs!). He loves it in the garden and knows to go out there to do his business. Although there have been a couple of times he has marked indoors I think that was because for a couple of days he couldn't go into the garden when he wanted as I was having a new fence put up. My dogs will bark when people pass the garden fence, but he hasn't joined in at all, in fact I haven't heard one bark from him.
Alfie really needs his new forever home, he is rather lost and confused, and is such a darling, it is rather sad to see.

RUDY

BEING FOSTERED IN ABINGDON, OXFORDSHIRE

21-04-09 Rudy is a 2 year old terrier mix. He is a very nice natured dog who is really adorable and loves cuddles.  He mixes well with other dogs, has a sensible attitude, enjoys cuddles and seems well balanced. He is a great size for a family pet.  He has amazing ears!!

29-04-09 UPDATE

Rudy has been with us for twenty-four hours and we can say without a doubt that he will make a stellar pet for a loving family. He is energetic, oh-so-sweet and very intelligent. Little is known about Rudy’s history but it is clear from his behaviour that he has lived with a family in a home before. He is completely housetrained and he loves toys - especially balls to play fetch. We came across a woman with a toddler while walking with him and he acted completely appropriately and his love of people seems to have few bounds despite the fact that he has ended up in rescue care. He consistently wants our attention and he cares very little about other dogs. He has no desire to play with our dogs and when encountering dogs on walks, he shies away from them. We think he’d be very happy in a one-dog home where he could be the centre of attention; nonetheless, I believe he could cope and adjust to life with other pooches.
Initially he was slightly aggressive towards our dogs, although I imagine this was partially due to stress. He aims to please and will be easily trained using a treat-training method.  When I first picked Rudy up he did not want to get into the car, so I gave him a couple of treats and then put the next treat into the car - he gladly obliged! He didn’t seem to know “sit” when he first joined us, though he is already learning very quickly! Rudy is a quiet dog and makes very little noise - an occasional whine or bark, but in general is very, very calm - especially for a dog with some terrier in him.
I gave Rudy a bath today and while he clearly did not enjoy it and initially attempted a few escapes, a few treats and soothing words pacified him enough to manage. Speaking of escapes: this dog can jump - and he’s quick! I know he’d love an active family, but most importantly, he just needs people that will shower him with all the love he deserves: a special family for a special dog. He is truly cuddly, gentle, sweet and kind - a perfect, lifelong friend.

03-05-09 UPDATE

Hi Rudy here. While I like my foster mom, I thought I’d write my own personal ad just to be thorough.
Petite, sweet, intelligent, black dog seeks: Loving couple, family or single person with whom I can constantly cuddle. Someone who likes to play fetch and take long walks or jogs outside. My interests: cuddling, learning, eating, sunbathing, comfy doggie beds, waking up and greeting everyone, maiming stuffed toys with record speed, protecting my foster mother from the birds outside, barking and biting at bugs in the air, playing fetch, chewing bones, sitting on human laps, being the centre of attention, “love nipping,” jumping, crawling under objects that give less than a six-inch clearance, and apparently “treat training.” My foster dad, hardly the expert dog trainer, managed to teach me “stay” in one night.
My dislikes: Leashes, but apparently I still lack “recall.” Sometimes I don’t like it when other male dogs approach my foster mother: I prefer having her all to myself so I growl to let them know that she’s in my care; I’ve learned to accept her doggie children as part of the pack. I would prefer to be top dog, but that’s not my destiny in this house apparently. I don’t really like swimming or being bathed either, but I’ve learned to tolerate the bathing as my foster mother praises my nice, shiny coat. All in all, I think I’m a pretty great catch for anybody who likes snuggles.

05-05-09 UPDATE
First of all, Rudy is the most affectionate dog I’ve ever met. I love my own two dogs more than anything in this world, but even they cannot compare to the type of affection Rudy offers. That being said, Rudy is nervous around strangers. We had people over to the house recently and he initially barked defensively and then circled them. He was clearly frightened/threatened so we immediately gave everyone a treat to give him so he would have a positive association with guests and he got the message! By the end of the night, he was approaching our friends asking them for cuddles!
On walks, he also displays nervousness toward people and other dogs. He is slowly getting better though, allowing people to pet him and the other dogs (including males) to sniff him. The few times I have scolded him with a firm no, the pointing hand gesture that accompanies it scared him. He immediately cowered, which was simply heartbreaking.  I think he’d prefer being the only dog or better suited to a house without another male dog.
Rudy is going to do best in a patient home willing to help him learn. He also, more than anything, needs a home where cuddles will be an even bigger staple than food.

26-06-09 UPDATE

Rudy has come a long way since joining our pack in April. I’m shocked no one has inquired about him as he is a beautiful, sweet, and intelligent dog. He will be fine now if placed in a multi-dog home - as long as his role in the home is clear, i.e. not pack leader.
Rudy no longer guards me on walks and has fully come to accept meeting other dogs and people. Ultimately, I think he learned a lot from living with other dogs. He is also excellent with children. A friend’s two-year-old wanted to feed our dogs so we let her give each dog a treat and he very gently took the food from her. In general, he is a very kind and cuddly dog. We met a seven-year-old on a walk who instantly took to him and the two of them sat down together on the ground and cuddled!
Rudy loves to play games. He is more dog than most in this way. He can play games for hours if you’re up for it. Just to note, nearly everyone who meets him is as convinced as I am that he is part Corgi. His remaining problems are that he very much likes to bark, especially when someone comes to the door. Knowing his personality though, this would be easily remedied with a citronella collar. He remains a dog with no recall and has made three successful escape attempts from our garden. He will need a home with at least 5½-6foot fences. He can and has jumped our 5 foot fence. Also he cannot be let off the leash and he will need better leash training than I’ve provided.
I think Rudy will get on well in any type of home (although I’m unsure how he’d do with cats.) People wise, he’d be great for anybody of any age or any family size, so long as he gets an hour of daily walking. He is calm indoors (unless he hears knocking,) and he is in crate trained too. Put a treat in the crate, shut the door and he doesn’t make a peep; when you return, he sits patiently until you let him out. This guy really deserves a great home full of love. He’s learned so much in the two months he has been with us. He will continue to thrive in a kind home.

ILK

BEING FOSTERED IN WREXHAM

14-04-09 Ilk is a 5 year old Bischon. She is an ex breeding bitch. She is the bravest of the Bischon , she is also cheeky, but despite her being inquisitive, she was a total star to bath and groom. She loved seeing her friends back in the kennel after having been bathed and greeted them all enthusiastically. She will need to have canine friend to show her about home living.

26-06-09 UPDATE

This is the first update on Ilk after 8 weeks in my care. This is because Ilk was defiantly by far the most scared little dog I have ever seen. She was rigid with fear, every single thing made her afraid. Not just noises but every single thing. On her first day Malcolm went to pick her up and she bit him. She was completely traumatised by the thought of being handled. He lay her down and stroked her until she was a little calmer.
She did not bite again but there was little other improvement for 5 weeks, then gradually we started to notice minute changes. She would stop to be picked up (though never looking at us).  She didn't dive under the kitchen table when we approached. She wanted to come upstairs when I was not downstairs and wanted to sleep on my bed not downstairs in her basket.
Teaching Ilk how to walk on a lead has been a very long process.  For the first 6 weeks she stayed exactly where I put her down outside - never moved a single muscle. The beginning of the seventh  week brought a few tentative steps in between standing rock still. We are now at the beginning of week 8 and this morning Ilk ran across the field on her lead with one of my bichons. What a joy to behold - this was defiantly a forever moment. She looked totally exhilarated as she ran and played with Millie.

I believe Ilk's fear has caused her on the odd rare occasion to be a little defensive with other small dogs.  She may have thought if she moved up the pack she may feel less threatened. In trying to move up a step she has bullied one of my little dogs. I do believe she fully understands this was totally the wrong way to behave. Because of this recent happening I feel it best if Ilk were to be homed with maybe only one other dog and that dog be either a male dog or a larger bitch.
Ilk has overcome many many fears but has many still to face. She will need to be homed with a loving and kind but most of all patient owner, children would scare her too much so feel a couple with children who have flown the nest would be best.
     To sum Ilk up:

  • She is so very beautiful
  • She is as sweet as candy
  • She is as scared as a little dog can be
  • She has so much love to give and when her trust has been fully gained will give  in abundance.
  • She is bright and intelligent
  • She is very very keen to please her owner.

Please read this carefully and if you feel that this little dog is the dog for you then please apply quickly as she is more and more attached to us as each day passes so when she leaves us for her forever home it could cause her to experience set backs.  She is ready to go to her new home where she will continue her progress and gain her confidence. Please give this lovely special girl  the home she so much deserves.

QUESTA

BEING FOSTERED IN SWANSEA

13-06-09 Questa (meaning "seeking" in Latin) is a 9 week old male collie x terrier cross.

26-06-09 UPDATE
This little chap was the bully of the litter, claiming everything for himself and duffing up the other two should they dare try to take any of "his" stuff.  He REALLY needed to learn some manners! Separated from his littermates and having several much larger, older and wiser canine Aunties and Uncles has worked wonders! What a beautiful, charming, funny pup he's become in a matter of days.  He is excellent with his food, I can removed his bowl and add to it, the other dogs can walk past him without a murmur and he plays beautifully with his new toys and is willing to give them up to either myself, the children or any of the other dogs, I can hardly believe the change in this boy. He is so very loving and enjoys nothing more than being cuddled, kissed and fussed over by anyone.
Questa is amusingly curious about the cats and has managed to persuade one of the kittens to have a game of rough and tumble which both seemed to enjoy. We have bought him a puppy collar and lead and have began to do a little lead training, just up and down the garden and so far he's taken to it like a duck to water.  No leaping about trying to rid himself of the lead, just trotted along beside me happily.  He is a very clever boy and I'm sure will take no time at all to learn anything. The house training is coming along, I let him out after meals and at regular intervals and he's doing really well. So now all he needs is a loving home where he can walk in the park, play ball and have lots of kisses and cuddles.  He would suit any family from a person on their own to a family full of children just as long as he gets plenty of love.  Could you be that home?

25-06-09 Jaffa is a lovely 4 year old ex breeding beagle. She is a very sweet and friendly dog who just needs a little time spent teaching her about living in a home. She will need another existing dog to copy and be her friend.

Being fostered in Luton, Bedfordshire.   Please read our adoption procedures before applying. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Adoption Form. DINKY

BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHAMPTON

25-06-09 Dinky is a dear 4 year old ex breeding beagle. She is very affectionate and sweet. Dinky has lived with other dogs all her life and would be happiest in a home with others. She will also learn the quickest by copying another dog. She is a little gem!

RAFIKI

BEING FOSTERED IN SOMERSET

26-06-09 Rafiki is an 8 month old Airedale bitch. She has come in from a breeding kennels. She is small and has not been handled much. She is a real expert's dog and will be a project and will need a very steady canine friend to help her. Rafiki needs a very well fenced and secure garden that is not too large or can be divided into a small area or no one will catch her. She is very sweet but I must stress she is a project that will take a lot of time and just knowing the breed will not be the answer.

RIO

25-06-09 Rio is a very quiet little cav. She shows no emotion and I think is a little shell shocked with moving from the breeding kennels she has known all her life. She needs another existing, kind and friendly little dog to be her buddy. She is 5 years old and just a honey.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. ANDI (FEMALE)

BEING FOSTERED IN WIMBOURNE, DORSET

05-05-09 Andi is a 1 year old lab cross bitch. She is a very sweet girl who gets on well with other dogs but would be happiest homed with a male if there's another dog in the house. She is a bit of a thinker - I guess she has gone through so much her trust is running low - but we can change that. She is easily the height of a lab.

05-06-09 UPDATE

Andi has been a darling here with us and is living with a fiery little terrier without any problems.  She also comes out and plays with our long stayers without squabbling. She loves to play and be fussed over and would be a very suitable dog for a family with nice children. We would be happy to home her as a companion for other dogs as long as the dogs meets and get on well.  She would be almost definitely happy to go home with any male dogs of any size or breed.  Andi is house trained, walks on a lead and could live with a dog savvy cat.

23-06-09 UPDATE

Andi is clever, obedient, loyal, playful and everything I wish for in a dog. She knows basic commands such as sit, down, come, no, wait and leave. She has so much more to give and is so eager to please. She loves playing with people and dogs alike, although is sometimes a bit pushy with other dominant female dogs, her recall is amazing though and she will come immediately when called every time.  She has been fine with cats, as long as they don't run away from her, then her youthfulness takes over & she can't resist a chase, though I believe with training this could be overcome. She has been fine with my children (10 & 12) and enjoys playing with them, ignores my sister's baby & toddler. She is housetrained, travels well, sleeps all night, can be left for a while in the day, although I have only ever left her with my dogs and not on her own. She didn't mind having a bath or being brushed. After a good run around she walks perfectly on the lead, although before exercise she does pull a bit, we're working on this. Andi is a delight to foster and I know she will bring a lot of happiness to whoever adopts her, providing they are prepared to give her plenty of exercise, stability and continue with her training.

JOHNNY

BEING FOSTERED IN CORSHAM, WILTSHIRE

05-06-09 Johnny is a 5 year old dachshund cross terrier. his mum has very bad arthritis in her hands and could no longer walk her little dog. He is used to long walks and lots of love. He is an active fit fellow who seems to get on fine with other dogs. He used to live in a house but has been at a friends in kennels as they were trying to find him a home.

23-06-09 UPDATE

Hi everyone I have settled in to home life very well. I do have a slightly deformed front leg and my ears are a little tatty round the edges but my foster mum says I'm still a very lovely little boy. I did get a little car sick on my way here but I walk very well on a lead and love going out for walks. I get on great with cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes, but would be just as happy as an only dog. I love people but I don't keep jumping on them for attention. I'm housetrained but did scent mark when I first got here which I soon stopped. I sleep all night either on the sofa or in a dog bed. My foster mum says I'm a very easy going dog, so if you looking for a small dog who loves going on long walks I really could be the one for you.
Love and licks Johnny x x

NESTLE

09-06-09 Nestle is a 14 month old mastiff cross.  She is very gentle and very sweet. Nestle is still very puppish and bounced around the place greeting all the staff as soon as she got here. She is good with other dogs and should be a lovely pet for a family home.

We found out today that Nestle is pregnant the ultimate decision lies with me on what action to take.  I cannot bear for lives to be taken so Nestle is going to a local fosterer while she has her puppies. Please do not contact me regarding this decision as I know many will have views on the matter.

TAMMY & PENNY NEED AN EMPTY LAP ASAP

BEING FOSTERED NEAR MANY TEARS IN SOUTH WALES

22-06-09 Tammy (the ears down) and Penny (ears up and a little smaller) are two charming little yorkies. Their mum who adored them died and the relatives were desperate for these little dogs to find a loving home. They are 12 years old and have always been together. We want to get them out of kennels and onto a lap asap, so we urgently want a fosterer or better still a home. This is a long lived breed usually and we are ensuring everything veterinary wise is done (in fact their teeth are being done this afternoon).  Please call if you know of an empty lap to help ease their sad empty hearts.

27-06-09 BEING HOME VETTED

HILBURY

BEING FOSTERED IN COWBRIDGE, SOUTH GLAMORGAN

 21-04-09
Hilbury is approximately 4 years old.  At some point has sadly had his leg amputated but we have no history so do not know why.  he is a sweet fellow keen to please good with dogs and he manages well despite only having the 3 legs. he was a stray that was never claimed.  He tends to cower when you go to stroke him but is not aggressive and is very happy when he realises you just want a cuddle.

11-05-09 UPDATE

Hilbury has been with us for a week.  He is very friendly with other dogs and people. He is totally house trained and sleeps well all through the night with our dog.  In fact Hilbury is a typical family dog, enjoys human company and is very affectionate; he takes an interest in all that is going on.  He enjoys running after a ball and sometime brings it back to you.  Hilbury is very confident on his three legs and we have found that his condition doesn't particularly tend to slow him down.  He can certainly give our Labrador a run for his money.
Hilbury answers to his name, understands 'no', 'wait' and 'come' and has reasonable recall. He very happily walks off the lead for up to an hour and has additional 20 minute walks spread out over the day.  To top it all Hilbury loves his food, cuddles and kisses.

01-06-09 UPDATE

Hilbury continues to be a happy, friendly boy.  He loves to play chase and ball with our other dogs.  However, whilst playing he does get excitable, like a typical terrier and hence needs a family who are terrier savvy and in control.  Hilbury really enjoys cuddles and tummy tickles.  He is obedient and easy to train as he likes to please; nevertheless, occasionally a stubborn streak emerges and he has to be cajoled to come in from the garden where he would much rather soak up the sun or snooze in the shade!  Being a terrier his chasing instinct did include bicycles and motorbikes, but I'm pleased to say that this has vastly improved with training; in fact I believe we have cracked it!  At the present time Hilbury is too insecure to be left totally on his own, he does not like it and cries; however, he is in no way destructive and is fine to be left alone with another dog for company.

22-06-09 UPDATE
Hilbury has now been in our care for 7 weeks and he is responding quickly to our training. He now just looks wistfully or ignores bicycles, motorbikes and joggers.  He is fully trusted and moves freely without reaction amongst our four cats.  However, he would still like to chase cats, squirrels or rabbits outside on our walks, so we are now endeavouring to control this with continuing training.  I have an inkling that he has had little or no training before coming to Many Tears.
Hilbury is a super little dog that thrives on receiving and giving affection.  But we have noticed a slight hesitation and cowering when my husband has something in his hand, like a stick, that Hilbury surmises he could be hit with.  So there is a strong possibility of someone being abusive to him in his past.  He loves the car and jumps in and out of the hatchback with great enthusiasm and absolutely no problems.  Having three legs does no deter Hilbury from what he wants to do - he is as able as our other four legged dogs.

TUPPENCE

BEING FOSTERED IN NEWPORT, GWENT

09-06-09 Tuppence is a female pup who is about six months old. She is a little terrier cross who gets on well with other dogs and loves people. She is a real terrier type and loves to play.

22-06-09 UPDATE

Tuppence is a very happy, loving, typical little terrier girl.  She has had only 2 accidents since she's been with us so she is almost housetrained.  She is fab with my 4 dogs and LOVES children although can get a little overexcited and jump up but a firm no once or twice and she understands.  She also loves to chase a ball and will play all day.
Tuppence would be perfect for a young family with plenty of energy as she is so fast and very playful.  She sits when asked and is going to be a very intelligent little dog. She does mouth a bit not in any way nasty but she is still only a pup and is very easy to direct so if you're looking for a happy go lucky playmate look no further!

29-06-09 BEING HOME VETTED

FLICKER

BEING FOSTERED IN YEOVIL, SOMERSET

25-05-09 Flicker is a 6yr old ex breeding female retriever. This beautiful girl is quite scared and is looking for a loving home that she can call her own. She does not know how to walk on a lead yet but is happy to be groomed and gently fussed. Flicker is a looking for a home with a resident male dog to show her to way.

22-06-09 UPDATE
Flicker has been with for about 2 weeks now and has made some massive improvements. When she first arrived she was almost petrified of virtually everything, dropping to the floor when anyone approached, no matter how cautiously. She gets on really well with our own dog and gains a lot of her new confidence from him, and although still nervous with people, she is now quite calm in the house and pushes herself forward for a bit of fuss. She takes treats from our hand now and approaches when called albeit nervously.
We have noticed that she is starting to give us a wag of her tail first thing in the morning which is very encouraging. She sleeps soundly all night in her basket, is clean in the house, very friendly to our cats, fed alongside our dog without any problems and although initially very scared, she has never shown any signs of aggression. She has also put on a bit of weight which is good as she was quite thin when she arrived. She is always keen to go for a walk, and she really seems to enjoy them, with plenty of rolling in the long grass and running around on the extending lead and is always pleased to see other dogs – male or female, but she has not to learned to play yet, but she just starting to show signs of wanting to run around with our dog.
When she first arrived, Flicker was quite adept at stealing things from the worktops – books, cakes, - anything really - but we think that this was more anxiety. She has stopped doing this as she calms down. She has never chewed anything destructively, like the furniture or her bedding or the car. All in all we think she is making great progress and continues to do so.

OLLIE

BEING FOSTERED IN GUILDFORD, SURREY

17-03-09 Ollie is a 9 month old collie who time was up at the pound. He loves women but is more scared of men. We will work on this - he just shies away does not bark or bite. He is good with other dogs.

26-03-09 UPDATE

Young Ollie, our collie, turns out to be a bit of ladies man. Ollie is nervous, he is more afraid of men and has nipped a couple of male members of staff. This isn't really anything to worry about, he's showing classic nervous collie behaviour and has nipped the backs of legs, nothing serious. He will do very well with someone who has experience with rescued collies, he does make friends very quickly and is very responsive, and very affectionate with the people he knows. He could live as an only dog but would settle better with a bitch for company.

SLIDE SHOW

Ollie is in need of a really special and experienced home to help him.

11-06-09 UPDATE

Ollie is  frightened of a lot of things - being in the car, washing machine, music  and the sound of doors closing but... he is so clever, enthusiastic and  affectionate. He has come on the school walk every day and only once  looked at a man suspiciously after some police dogs went crazy at us for walking past their car. The man that walked up behind us immediately  afterwards was just one spooky thing too many. Stewart caught Ollie's attention, he is clicker training him, and the chap walked away not even  knowing that a dog had felt threatened by him. He walks beautifully with ongoing guidance on a slip lead on the road  and a flexi on the fields till he is sure about his name and that we are  his people. He has been fine with our little (human!) girl, no herding  or nipping, he plays with our other dogs with huge energy and is  learning that it is ok to go to sleep occasionally! We had one accident on his first night but he had gone to the back door  so he knew where he should have gone. He hasn't marked in the house at  all and is learning 'make a wee' which the others perform beautifully  to! We know that this could be a honeymoon period and are not taking  anything for granted, however, this dog is fantastic. He needs a GENTLE  but confident, guiding hand and is so responsive. He would love agility  or just a very busy family to keep him fit in body and brain and  definitely needs a playful dog around. He would bond very quickly and  must not be allowed to own his person. This puppy turned one year old (according to his vaccine record) the day  after we got him home. He is still so much a puppy, mouthing in play but  responding very quickly to a firm 'no' and a swap to a toy instead of  your hand or sleeve! I could ramble on for ages about this delicious  collie. Someone will really enjoy this boy when they are prepared to  work and love him in the way that these pesky collies need!

22-06-09 UPDATE

Ollie bounced back after being very tired by his first week in the outside world. He is much bolder and enjoying puppyhood! He is now jumping in and out of the car with the others, no more lifting him in. He is off lead every day and his recall is not bad at all. If he sees other dogs he is desperate to see them and go and play. Our cat is still  being aloof, she is 15 so sleeps a lot but she and Ollie have seen each other and he just stares, no chase yet, we wont let it happen, he will  learn that cats don't lose!
He has had a couple of hiccups this week. A big man loomed over the whole pack stating that he wouldn't hurt them but even one of the others was disturbed by this chaps manner so I wasn't surprised when Ollie barked very defensively at him. He has also nipped a friend of ours who came over to build a ramp for our oldest dog. He was using power tools and I think we just expected too much of Ollie to cope with a very masculine chap using big, noisy, scary tools before he had been out for his first run. Our friend ignored the behaviour, then called Ollie over for a treat when he had calmed down. They were friends again straight away.
This boy needs so much guidance and patience. Stewart has done wonders on the roads with him.  He loves the clicker and watches Stewart's every move. He is a real thinker and if you show him a treat rather than giving it straight away,  he will think, then offer up a new behaviour to gain a reward. This makes it so much easier to eventually harness the behaviour you want then put a command to it.
Ollie is so very cuddly and soppy, he drops his foxy ears down and his face is so expressive. He is easy to read so his angst is almost predictable. We let him down by not reacting quickly enough to his stress when he nipped. There is someone out there who will get so very much back from this dog if they will give him the upbringing that he has missed and continue what we have started. Come and see this great dog and meet the real Ollie, not the stressed dog from the kennel environment.

Being fostered in Guildford, Surrey.  Please read our
adoption procedures before applying. Ollie is by donation only - please bear in mind that all our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and inoculated and your donation will help us save another dog.

GRACE

BEING FOSTERED IN WALLINGFORD, OXFORSHIRE

21-06-09 Grace is a 5 year old Labrador who's family have lost their home and have nowhere to keep her and her best friend Caio. Grace is a very loving and affectionate dog. She's a typical good lab, steady, trustworthy, obedient and just a pleasure to be with in general. She loves other dogs and has always lived with dogs and cats, she's also lived with very young children.

BETHANY

05-05-09 Bethany is an 18 month old stunning smooth-coated Lurcher. She loves affection and gives back all she gets. She is small greyhound size and looks quite like one. We are sure her and her lurcher palls we get over looked by most, yet she is a sweet girl.

26-05-09 UPDATE
Bethany loves sharing her kennel with Hero. She enjoys a good walk but also adores a truly comfortable bed. She is more busy and playful then Hero and would love another similar sized lurcher or dog to gallop with. She also could be an only dog as is very happy in humans company.

06-06-09 UPDATE

Bethany is such a brilliant and beautiful dog that we hate to see her stuck in kennels. She loves other dogs, loves to play and loves everybody that she meets. She likes and needs a good place to charge about but after that she's all tuckered out and just wants to be cuddled or to fall asleep on your lap.

20-06-09 UPDATE
I fostered Bethany for a week and wanted to let everyone know something about her week with me as she is such a darling and so deserves a nice home. It was not her fault that she had to come back, it was with a heavy heart that I returned her, but was so pleased to see her racing around at Many Tears playing with her kennel mate - she really does love to play!
While she was with me she did show a lot of interest in little dogs, and also in cats when we were out walking - I don't think she would be best placed with either. She is good on the lead, if inexperienced and didn't pull.  She is very well house trained, as soon as she realised where the garden was she would use it straight after she had eaten, I didn't need to tell her. She also knew to go out and do her business first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Bethany is very much a people dog, loving attention, charming everyone she met, and was very responsive to learning what she could and couldn't do. I had to leave my dogs and her for a day a couple of times and both then and the shorter times they were left she was non destructive. She did like to move things around though so my remotes did have a couple of Bethany sized teeth marks! Also, my son's trainers ended up in her bed several times, but when I saw her moving things and told her 'no' she really did cut down until it was only one of my dogs beds that she would take - to use as a pillow!
She has a lovely soft coat that is wonderful to stroke and Bethany really can't get enough of being petted. She is a fun loving, straight forward girl who has a lot of love to give and complete confidence in people. I hope she finds her forever home soon, she really deserves it.

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying. UNA

BEING FOSTERED IN SWINDON, WILTSHIRE

20-06-09 Una is a 3 year old ex breeding westie. She has a good temperament and gets on fine with other dogs. She needs a home with an existing dog to show her the way.

Being fostered in Swindon, Wiltshire.  Please read our adoption procedures before applying. 23-06-09 UPDATE
Today the vet checked Ursha and found she has a pronounced heart mummer.  She does not need medication at the moment but may well do at sometime in the future so any adopter needs to be aware of this.

30-06-09 BEING HOME VETTED

BRAMBLE

BEING FOSTERED IN AMMANFORD, DYFED

04-05-09 Bramble is approximately 2 years old and has been returned because she has a habit of biting when she gets scared. She has been returned to her previous foster home and will be monitored over the next few days to assess her behaviour. Bramble has come back quite overweight however, with brisk daily walks and a sensible diet she will soon return to her beautiful, svelte-like self. Bramble is very subdued and somewhat shell-shocked at finding herself back but she really enjoys her walks despite puffing and panting all the way because of her excess weight. She did whine off and on through the night but this will no doubt stop once she’s settled back into a routine. Bramble is as loving and affectionate as ever although somewhat noisy - but what do you expect she is a Beagle!

11-05-09 UPDATE

Bramble has been with me a week now and although she can be a little minx at times because of her loving nature she is easily forgiven. As Bramble has been returned twice from adopted homes I feel that only those who have had previous experience with Beagles should apply because they truly are a breed of their own. In fact, I do believe a Beagle is the only breed I know that really doesn’t care about being reprimanded, their attitude really is “Whatever, am I bothered, I think not!” And I can say this from personal experience as I owned a rescue Beagle for several years. On this basis you will never cure a Beagle of raiding the bins, baying at will (although this can be curbed) and possibly selective recall.
Bramble is currently annoying the other dogs by racing around the garden at biting them without warning. I am working on this by squirting her with water and it is having the desired effect. She will howl when she’s left in the kitchen with the other dogs at night so I put a collar on her that emits a high pitched noise to prevent her doing this and it has worked a dream. When we are out on our walks she will ‘bay’ but a firm “Enough, Bramble” generally stops her although it startles all within earshot! Is she worth it? YOU BET! Her love knows no bounds and she loves nothing more than to snuggle in the crook of your arm when you’re sat down in the armchair.

25-05-09 UPDATE

Although Bramble remains a minx when Jack arrived she was like a dog almost transformed! Bramble’s problem is that she can play a little too rough but Jack the Black Terrier mix will tolerate no nonsense and firmly puts her in her place and Bramble absolutely loves him. She now sleeps happily without her training collar on at night in her crate in the kitchen with the other dogs but still needs work when out on walks. I’ve discovered that Bramble really enjoys wading in the river and this latest photo shows her cooling off whilst sat on the rocks. Whilst she can be mean to the other dogs given half the chance she has always been very loving with me and anyone who talks to her so I’m hoping that an experienced owner will fall for her as I have because she really is a very special girl.

21-06-09 UPDATE
Over the last couple of weeks Bramble has really turned a corner. She is beginning to interact better with the other dogs in my home and they are now more accepting of her. However, the real surprise was when I decided to test her off lead and discovered she has excellent recall! Even more surprising despite remaining vocal she is friendly to other dogs when out on our walks, people too. There remains one problem which I haven't been able to resolve yet; she occasionally gets spooked when out on our walks and its never the same thing. Sometimes its a vehicle that spooks her or a person, man or woman (never children). When this happens she freaks out and starts barking and biting in shear panic. If I didn't take a firm hold of the lead there's a chance she would nip my leg. Any other time she has never attempted to bite or nip me or anyone else. She will try to nibble you in a playful way though. She adored having my 16 month old grandson to stay and was receptive to commands from my son. If Bramble was adopted by an experienced dog owner who was prepared to give her time to settle then they would be rewarded with a very loving dog because she really is very affectionate.

URCHIN

BEING FOSTERED IN BREAN, SOMERSET

11-05-09 Urchin is a 6 year old terrier cross who we collected from the pound. This poor boy is really feeling lost at the moment.  He must have once been someone's loyal friend and how he's ended up at the pound is beyond us. Urchin is good with other dogs and happy to meet people but is desperate to be loved and cared for.  He seems so lost and confused to be stuck here in our kennels as if he is missing someone. Urchin also has a broken tail which hopefully can be rectified very easily.

20-06-09 UPDATE

After arriving home with Urchin he was very lively but after a few days and a lot of energy sapping walks he started to settle with my other dogs, although I was concerned by his broken tail it does not seem to cause him any problems at all. Urchin needs to be homed with an experienced owner as being a typical terrier he wants to chase everything that moves and that would probably include cats. Urchin can be dominant with some dogs and I suspect this is because he has had to look after himself in his previous home, that apart he is a very affectionate and people friendly dog that does not seem to be bothered by children.
Urchin is not food aggressive as he eats with my dogs, is house trained, walks well on a lead and is not bothered by traffic or strange noises. He is happy to be left with the other dogs for a few hours and settles down in his bed for the night at about 8pm. Urchin needs and deserves an active fun home with plenty of stimulating activity, he will run quite happily by the side of a bike, could live on his own but would need to keep up the socialisation with other dogs.

NAPKIN

BEING FOSTERED IN MAIDENHEAD, BERKSHIRE

09-06-09 Napkin is a beautiful 7 week old pup.  He and his brothers and sisters had a jack rustle for a mum and a "guess what" for a dad. They were a unwanted litter and we expect them to grow no bigger than a small spaniel size but who can tell?

19-06-09 UPDATE
Napkin has a very sweet nature, he is cuddly and playful. He has just learned to climb the stairs and cry very loudly to get down! He is eating well and socializing with all the other pets that live here. He is a small dog, but being terrier, he will have BIG ideas (as I have found out with my MT terrier!!). He will need an active home, with lots going on to keep him busy. He is fine to live with kids, (but not babies or toddlers), cats, dogs, adults.

19-06-09 UPDATE
Nutmeg is the commando pup! She is adventurous and brave, always leading the way, she climbs up the netting and flips herself through the playpen bars ready for a new mission! She is also very sweet, cuddly and friendly. She loves playing with the other pups, and tries to get the cat to play as well. She will need an active home, lots of training and activities to channel all her energy and ingenuity. She is fine to live with kids, (but not babies or toddlers), cats, dogs, adults.

JEWEL

BEING FOSTERED IN CAERPHILLY, MID GLAMORGAN

05-06-09 Jewel is a 7 month old Cocker spaniel who was returned to the breeder after the people that bought her as a tiny puppy discovered that she has a cataract and no longer wanted her. Unfortunately for Jewel this is hereditary and cannot be operated on but thankfully it is only one eye and she can and will be able to see perfectly with the other. Jewel needs go to a home with another dog so she can have a canine friend for the rest of her life.

19-06-09 UPDATE
When I picked Jewel up I hadn't seen such a traumatised dog in years. She resembled a zombie. She is terrified of everyone and everything. She has clearly had a very tough time in her short life. What that entailed I have no idea. In the five days that she has been with us she has made some slow progress. Her sight is clearly an issue and she has taken a long time to work out where everything is. If she bangs into anything or she hears a noise she isn't familiar with she bolts back into her crate. She is happy in her crate and has found a spot in the garden where she goes and sits at every opportunity. For the first couple of days she made no attempt to interact with the other dogs, but now that she seems a little less frightened she is more inquisitive of what they are doing. This little girl is going to need an EXCEPTIONAL home with a gentle canine friend.  She will need someone at home most of the time and someone who is prepared to put in the time and effort and who has the patience to help her.

03-07-09 BEING HOME VETTED

THEO

18-06-09 Theo is a 4 year old collie who has come from a farm. He's probably been trained and at least partly used as a working sheepdog but for whatever reason hasn't made the grade or isn't as good as the other dogs on the farm and isn't of any use to the farmer. He has always lived with other dogs and so far he seems to get on with all sorts of them. Theo's pretty happy with people and is eager to make friends with all the staff and volunteers, he was also perfectly behaved in the bath especially considering it was his first in his life.  He has probably not lived in a home before and would love a home with another dog to be his friend and help him learn.

This dog is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying. TISCALI

 18-06-09
Tiscali is a 2 year old Huskamute who is no longer needed by her breeders.  She has been used as a breeding dog but as she and her sister are only 2 years old they haven't had that many litters. She is affectionate but will need to get to know her people and might take while to settle. These dogs haven't gone for walks on leads before in their lives but hopefully will learn about this whilst with us in the kennels. Tiscali has always lived with her sister Tequila and if not homed together we insist that Tiscali only goes to a home where there is already a resident dog.

TEQUILA

18-06-09 Tequila is a 2 year old HuskAmute who has lived all of her life in kennels. Tequila and her sister Tiscali are very nervous of people and haven't really had close contact with any before today. She might take a long time to learn about her new life and a home with another dog to follow would really help her with this. She has always lived with her sister and doesn't know what it's like to live without her, although we would and probably will separate the pair will insist that they both have another dog to live with.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. TAMARIN

18-06-09 Tamarin is a 2 year old Huskamute who has been given up by her breeder to live the rest of her days as a pet. Tamarin has had very little experience of the world outside her kennel and might take a little while to learn new things and new people. She has always lived with her sister Topaz and  is very good with other dogs.  She will be best homed with another dog to help her learn about home living, house training etc.

TOPAZ

18-06-09 Topaz is a 2 year old Huskamute who is no longer needed by her breeders. She has lived every day of her life in a kennel with her sister Tamarin and she hasn't had any experience of life in a home with humans. She's not gone for walks on a lead, she's never gone to the park to play and she hasn't met more than one or two people in her whole life. She will need a little time to settle and to learn to forget her fears but she should be able to get through this quite quickly, especially with another dog to follow.

LUCY

03-06-09 Beautiful Lucy has been returned after only 48hrs. What did Lucy do? Nothing at all. The people who adopted her simply changed their minds on this poor girl. So  yet again she has been let down in her short life.  Lucy is a small collie cross. She is 5 years old and is a sweet, loyal dog. Before she arrived at Many Tears she lived outside in the yard and her owner didn't walk her so this world is a all new to her.
Lucy has suffered a few set backs when she first arrived possibly through confusion as to where it is she belongs. She has responded well to training and does need boundaries set for her. She travels well in the car, can be left for reasonable periods, is fine with cats and excellent with children although older ones may suit her best.
Please think about Lucy but think carefully before you apply. We are very disappointed that Lucy has lost out again through absolutely no fault of her own.

16-05-09 UPDATE

Lucy is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs you could ever hope to meet.  It's a pleasure to be in her company and she once she makes friends with you she is as loyal as a dog could possibly be. She is very very nervous of people until she gets to know them.  Once you've got her trust she will adore and worship you, she loves her hugs and cuddles. She also loves to play and would chase any balls you'd like to throw for her, especially footballs.
She is a nervous type of dog that might always have some fears and she's the sort that we would worry would get lost by running away from what frightens her if she isn't on a lead or in a very secure area. But she does get over her fear of people very quickly and the more people she makes friends with the less this fear will be in general.
Lucy was originally owned by a drug addict who never walked her and she had never experienced the world outside her back garden. He did love her so she understands affection and craves it. He just didn't look after her properly in regards to socializing her or teaching her about people and other dogs and so new people, new dogs and new experiences worry
her a lot until she get used to them.
Lucy is good with other dogs but would be better suited to live as an only dog or with one other larger male dog as she can be a bit of a madam if not kept completely in check. She would like to be top dog but is so submissive to people that this shouldn't cause any problems if her owners are firm when they need to be.
Don't let her looks deceive you either, her grey muzzle might make her look like an old lady but she is far from it.  This girl is quite puppy like in some of her play and has many years of healthy living ahead of her - hopefully with you!

ANNIE

BEING FOSTERED IN PEMBROKESHIRE

04-05-09 Sadly this sweet 16 month old collie type has had to come back to us as the owners mum has become very ill. She is now called Annie. She is house trained and very gentle. She is scared to get in a car, but once there she travels well.

15-08-09 UPDATE

When I collected Annie we travelled home and she was great in the car. On getting home we had a quick walk with 2 of my other dogs then came on into the house. She was happy to come in, wasn't snappy and seemed to settle well. Dinner time she did have a snap at the Jack Russell in her bowl but he put her straight and I had to say NO! loudly!  I think she got the message, that we share here. That had been the only time it's happened!
She slept in her new crate all night without any problem and has used the garden for the loo. Although a little wary of men, she's fallen in love with my 14yr old son. I decided to leave the update to see how she was after she had been with us for a while and her true character had come out and I had got to know her better. Annie is very affectionate and loves being made a fuss of. She can be dominant with my dogs, who are all smaller than her, so she thinks she can be the boss. When visiting my mother, who has 2 larger dogs, she shows them much more respect. I therefore feel that she would be better homed either as an only dog or with larger dogs.
I have now discovered that although she is not food mad she is very possessive of her food bowl and if any of the other dogs go near her at meal times she will protect her bowl. I have overcome this by feeding her in her crate and if she hasn't finished by the time the others have I remove her bowl hoping that this will make her eat all her food quicker. She still sleeps in her crate all night without a sound and is fully house trained. She is a super girl and will make anyone a superb companion but will need a collie savvy home and lots of exercise.

JAKE

11-05-09 Jake is an 8 year old retriever who's owners are having a baby and don't want him anymore. He has lived in the house as a pet and has shared the property with two Samoyeds but the other dogs lived outside and so he hasn't, strictly speaking, lived with them. He is overweight and hasn't been properly walked or exercised. Since coming into the kennels he's befriended two lovely female dogs and has spent most of the day splashing (or lying) about in our paddling pools in the play yard, or meeting and greeting staff members and volunteers. Jake is very well behaved in general but needs to learn a few manners on a lead. He would love a home with another dog but would be equally happy at home with people who didn't have to leave him alone for very long.

21-05-09  UPDATE

Jake is a lovely dog and we know his age might put people off adopting him but there's plenty of life left in this dog yet. He's shedding his excess weight daily and gaining years of youthful exuberance in the process. He loves to come out and play with our dogs and should live happily with any dog that would be happy to live with him. He is also just about the cleanest dog we have in the kennels and never dirties his kennel, always holding on until it's time for walks. During which he's learnt to behave perfectly and walks to heel without pulling, also meeting other dogs like a star and making friends with whoever allows him to.

15-06-09 UPDATE
Jake walks very well on the lead and is just as good off the lead. He loves the water and mud!. He is good with other dogs and does not like to be left on his own so would ideally be re-homed with another dog. He would be best homed teenagers or no children as small children worry him. Jake is great fun and loves to play and be brushed. Everywhere we go everybody says how cute he is and loves to stroke him. He can't wait to have his own family to love him. He is a fantastic dog and would love to find a permanent family of his own. Jake is a gentle giant and is like a big cuddly teddy bear.

GIZELLE

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

26-05-09 Gizelle is a 2 year old ex breeding schnauzer. She is so scared that she does not give eye contact. She is a project but with time, kind and patient owners she will be fine. Gizelle will need a home where there is another confident and gentle resident dog to help her.

05-06-09 UPDATE
Good with other dogs? Very!
Good with cats?  Yes
Good with children?  Teenagers only as she would be worried by sudden movements and noise from smaller children.
House trained?  Yes
Travel well?  Anxious but improving
Can be left?  Fine if left with other dogs
Walk on lead?  Coming along well but not 100%

Giselle has progressed really well in the short time I have had her.  She is an extremely affectionate, loving little girl who craves attention and praise.  She loves my other dogs, and enjoys playing with them, and she races around the garden with them, a picture of joy!  She is good with my cats, and they are not bothered about her:  they are pretty good judges of canine risk factors so if they ignore a dog, it's a pretty sure thing that there is no aggression there.  Giselle would be ready to go to a home now, but it is essential that she goes with another dog for companionship and confidence and she does like other Schnauzers best!!  Initially terrified in the car, she is now much improved apart from some anxious panting, but is getting better every day.
Giselle loves treats, so will be an easy dog to train and she is extremely intelligent and quick to learn, so would not suit someone looking for a quiet and passive dog.  She needs to use her quick little brain, and needs to learn, so please don't consider her unless you enjoy training a clever, wonderful little dog!  Giselle is a bundle of energy and fun!

15-06-09 UPDATE

Giselle is now totally transformed from the frightened little dog that wouldn't even make eye contact!  It has been fantastic to see her come out of herself so much, so that eye contact to her is now a recall signal and she will come bounding over to me if she catches my eye, as to her this means that she must be up for a reward, whether a treat or a cuddle!  She is completely confident with people she knows now, and even with strangers or in new situations, although she is initially fearful, her "bounce back rate" is improving on a daily basis!  She is even happy in the car now, and will jump in of her own accord.  She is walking well on the lead, comes when called, and certainly comes all the time when NOT called!  Her whole aim in life is to be involved in what is going on around her and having spent time encouraging her to come to me, or at least to stay still for me to approach her, I am now trying to teach her not to jump up!  She loves to be cuddled and praised and is a real attention-seeker.
Giselle is extremely energetic compared to most Mini Schnauzers I have met, and wants to play ALL the time, whether with me or my other dogs, so she is going to need a really active lifestyle.  She loves other dogs, and will certainly need a canine companion, but one that is young, friendly and loves to play, otherwise Giselle will make their life hell!
I am sure her confidence will take a bit of a knock when she goes to a new and permanent home, so her adopter will need to be ready to work with her to make her realise she is progressing, not making a backward move in life.  But as soon as she settles, she will be a very, very active dog, both physically and mentally, so she will need lots of fun and training.  She is an absolute delight, a really super dog for the right person but I can only repeat that she is so unlike my own MT Mini Schnauzers, who are lively but steady.  Giselle is like a coiled spring but then she may never before have had the chance to run and play and experience joy in her little world and is making up for it now!  Good for her!!  She deserves a wonderful, happy future.

30-06-09 BEING HOME VETTED

COOPER

BEING FOSTERED IN SALTASH, CORNWALL

09-04-09 Cooper is 8 months old. If Cooper does not get his own way he is dominant. He needs a very dog savvy owner possibly with a large dog. He needs excessive exercise also so an active home is a must. He definitely needs a person who has dealt successfully with bad manners in a dog before. We have no trouble here, but this is not a home life.  He is as naughty as he is cute. He is curable but only in the right hands and every home he fails at he will be a little worse so please only apply if you will succeed!

30-05-09 UPDATE
Cooper has been with us now for about 4 weeks. He is a beautiful boy - housetrained and can be very, very affectionate. However, he does have behavioural problems such as food aggression and possessiveness over anything he deems to be his at the time, i.e. the sofa, a bed or even just his spot on the floor when he's comfortable. We have had two scraps between Cooper and my own male cocker spaniel. I have been working closely with a dog behaviourist and there has been a big improvement in his behaviour.  Cooper is a really lovely boy when handled correctly and he's making such good progress here.

14-06-09 UPDATE
What a difference another couple of weeks has made for Cooper. He has come along in leaps and bounds. We have seen no sign of aggression for a few weeks now, and he has turned out to be the most adorable boy.  I have worked tirelessly with him and Cooper meets other dogs well, loves having visitors and another doggy friend to play with. I don't think he would be suited to a house where there are cats as we've not had any dealings with cats here, but I do feel he would want to chase one if the chance arose.
Cooper is good with older children and he loves cuddles but I don't think he would be ok living in a home where there are young children, he would be better with children 11+. As I have said previously he is fully house trained and he would be ok to be left for a few hours if he wasn't an only dog or for a short period of time if he was on his own. He walks very well on a lead, and we have been practicing his recall, he does come back 90% of the time but he still needs a little work. I have truly loved every second of fostering Cooper because he has such a great character he has made me smile every day.
My family and I have fallen head over heels in love with him and we will be very very sad to see him go. You really need to meet him to see for yourself what a fabulous young man he has turned out to be. Whoever adopts this boy is going to be one very lucky person because for every ounce of love you give to Cooper he will return it ten fold.

HAVOC

BEING FOSTERED IN WALLINGFORD,OXFORDSHIRE

03-06-09 Havoc is an 8 week old female collie pup. She is black and white and look like she will be long coated.  She is here with her brother and sisters looking for a home as they all have overshot jaws.  Havoc is the quietest out of the litter.  She was a darling for a bath and is curled up enjoying the sun.  She will need an active home where she will get long walks and maybe do agility or flyball or some other activity.

14-06-09 UPDATE

What can I say about this little miss apart from the fact that she is a typical collie puppy. Busy, busy, inquisitive into everything. Full of fun and mischief. She likes nothing better than hanging on the bottom of my jeans while I am trying to walk and “killing” my ankles and feet. She is into the plant pots, the dishwasher, the cupboards any bag she finds and likes hanging on the telephone wires, the tassels on the throws, Her other favourite pastime is playing with her friend Big Bill. They spend hours together in the garden playing with the toys and play fighting which is hilarious to watch as Bill is able to fit her in his mouth but he is so gentle. She is very bold and races up to him for him to play with her. She is a lovely puppy and will give so much pleasure to whoever gives her a forever home. Bet you will tire out before she does!

BILL

BEING FOSTERED IN WALLINGFORD, OXFORDSHIRE

19-05-09 Bill is a 3 year old collie cross. He has been a pet and a helper as he used to work cattle. His owner could no longer keep him so he has come to us. Tomorrow we will have a bath/groom day. He already is a very handsome dog, but once groomed he will be stunning.

01-06-09 UPDATE
Bill really is one of the most sweetest good natured dogs I have ever met. Everyone loves him as soon as they meet him. He just loves people especially the ladies. He has really settled in well. He loves playing with toys and killing the tennis ball. On our walks he is off the lead and runs and plays with the other dogs. He loves to run and splash in the river and if he has a ball he rolls it round and round on the sand then when it is covered in sand he knocks it into the water and waits for you to wash it off and give it back to him so he can do it all over again. When he first came he was a little scared of getting into the car but he is now getting used to it and will get in when he knows he has to without being lifted. He is a little wary of anything that resembles a stick so I suspect he may have been hit with one at some time. He is always happy and doesn’t stop wagging his tail from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep at night.  He is crate trained and sleeps happily in it at night. He is also clean in the house.

14-06-09 UPDATE

Bill continues to be a most sociable  and loving dog. He loves playing with the puppies and is so patient with them. He spends all his time in the garden with the pups. He loves his walks and is now quite happy to get in the car as he knows he is off to the river. He is so friendly.  He loves playing racey chasey in the long grass.

JACK

BEING FOSTERED NEAR MANY TEARS IN SOUTH WALES

18-03-09 Jack is a 4yr old male Pom cross. Jack's previous owners are having to rehome this happy chap because of their long work hours mean that neighbours are complaining when the dogs are left and barking. This sweet boy gets on well with dogs and we are told was great with children who visited the previous owners home. Jack seems to travel well and would love to find his forever home where he would play, share your sofa and get all the cuddles he deserves.

26-04-09 UPDATE

Jack's a lively little dog who loves to play He wears us out when doing so He could play ball all day if he could. When I went out to hose the yard down I also found out he loves to chase the water from the hose he came in soaked (see picture!). Most of the time he does as he's told just the odd blip!!!! Once he's had a good run around he sleeps for ages usually on his back  A good dog all round he would be happy with children to play with - they have more energy and would enjoy having this little dog to play with. Jack is good with other dogs and walks well on the lead. He had a barking problem when he first went to Many Tears, we had a couple of mornings when he woke us up but since then he has settled down. He certainly seems happy now and all he needs is his forever home.

12-06-09 UPDATE
I visited my mum who's fostering Jack at Whitsun half term. I had two of my sons with me. One aged 2 & one 14. When we first arrived Jack didn't think too much to my 2 year old but took an instant liking to my teenager.  He really enjoyed all the fuss he was given. The first couple of days Jack was really unsure of my little boy so we kept an eye on them but by the end of the second day after a bit of reassurance for Jack, a few treats and my son throwing the ball up the garden, Jack had obviously realised little boys weren't so bad after all. They spent the next couple of days playing ball.  Every time Jack would retrieve the ball & drop it at my 2 year olds feet.  If he wasn't quick enough to throw it again Jack would give him a small bark as if to hurry him up!
Jack is a lovely lively dog who enjoys a lot of attention. He especially loves water & had us all in fits of laughter when mum was trying to wash the yard down.  He was going berserk trying to catch the water from the hosepipe. I think Jack would be great for families with children, although he does need a little bit of reassurance that the little people are OK.

RINGO

BEING FOSTERED IN DORKING, SURREY

09-06-09 Ringo is a gorgeous collie, a male who is only about a year old. He is good with other dogs but can get over excited and lose himself in the moment, if his new family are experienced collie owners then he will mix very well with any other dog but he might be the sort of dog that would walk all over a weak handler. He's a very affectionate dog and loves to cuddle as much as he loves to play.

JET

BEING FOSTERED IN PENDINE, CARMARTHANSHIRE

06-05-09 Jet is a 10 year old lurcher. He is fine in the company of quiet gentle dogs but intimidated if they are too bouncy. His owner left him in a home with young children and said he would come back for him - but never did.  Despite his age he will chase cats. He is very good in the home - quiet, undemanding, good with children and walks off lead to heel.  He has had 2 other homes in his life: the first he lived in a drain pipe and was starved and the second he was left.   If you want a quiet fellow who will love you but not ask for too much please think of him. There is no set charge for him though a donation would help.

06-06-09 UPDATE
Jet has been with us for a few weeks now and is a beautiful boy. he settled really well and gets on with my other dogs fine. He doesn't bother with them much as he likes to sleep a lot. I thought that he would need lots of exercise but he doesn't. He likes his walks but is far more sedate than my other dogs. The only problem with him is that he can go for other dogs. Not all dogs and  I don't know what the trigger is. He has not gone for any of my dogs but I don't let him off the lead if there are any other dogs around. He is such a good boy in every other way, clean in the house, asks to go out, is good with my 9 year old granddaughter, good with anyone who comes to the house and is very gentle. He would be ideal on his own, with someone who wants a quiet dog for company who will love them. I have never had a lurcher before, but I can honestly say that I would take one in again.

Being fostered in Pendine, Carmarthanshire.  Please read our adoption procedures before applying. Jet is by donation only - please bear in mind that all our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and inoculated and your donation will help us save another dog.

CAWDOR

20-05-09 Cawdor is a 3yr old Jack Russell who was saved on his last day at the pound. This boy is very happy to be picked up and cuddled but enjoys nothing more than a good adventure. He gets on well with the dogs he has met here at the rescue and would now like to find an active home where he could get all the attention. love and fuss he deserves.

02-06-09 UPDATE

Cawdor would walk with you or play ball all day. He is a very typical larger than life personality JR. He would be happiest living with a larger bitch or as an only dog.

05-06-09 UPDATE

Cawdor is a gorgeous little terrier who would play until he dropped. His favourite game at the moment is football. Cawdor will live happily with other dogs male or female but is more suited to females.  He is a typical terrier so might get involved in the odd squabble if there's one going!

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying. HENNA

BEING FOSTERED IN ASH, SURREY

11-05-09 Henna is a 2 year old kelpie who has been returned to us. Her adopters said they she had behavioural problems but we believe this could have been due to lack of exercise as Henna is a working breed who has become overweight.  She is a lovely, sweet natured dog and being a working breed needs proper stimulation. Henna will live with other dogs and would love a caring owner who likes to spend time out walking or playing with their dogs. She will also live with cats but will herd them if allowed to get away with it.
Henna would be ideal for someone with dreams of winning agility competitions or someone with pet sheep that might need rounding up every now and again. But she would also live a perfectly happy life with someone that would just take her out and keep her mind busy and working for an hour or two every day, chasing balls or jogging/bike riding would suit her just fine.
Please don't apply to adopt a working type breed if you don't have the time to or intention to work with them. But if you want a very clever dog with focus and the drive to do whatever you can put the effort in to train them for, look no further then Henna - she's a diamond.

30-05-09 UPDATE

Henna is just so easy in kennels it's hard to imagine she could not stay in a home. She is a small kelpie which means she has a large and active brain. Having said that she has not been demanding or a problem here in anyway at all. She does need an experienced home willing to stick by her as I don't think she could bare losing a home again. I think an older family who are very fit and active and would take her on long walks but we really have not seen any problems with her at all here.

02-06-09 BEING HOME VETTED

Henna's previous fosters noted that she was not good with their dogs.  However here at the rescue she meets and plays beautifully with different dogs. We can only guess then that this could be jealously issues when she's in a home.  We just hope that there is a special person out there to give this lovely lady the home she deserves. Henna is as sweet as can be, she walks nicely on the lead is responsive to her name but will need work continued with her recall training.

BLOSSOM

15-03-09 Blossom was returned having picked on one of her new owners dogs.  Her old owner was terribly up set having worked very hard with her in both the ground work for agility and obedience. She said Blossom is a very clever and affectionate girl and would suit a home as an only dog. Blossom gets on VERY well with Muddle and they literally play all day. I feel with a larger dog she may do well, or as an only girl. She has had a roller coaster of a ride and we all feel very sad for her and her adopter who had to give her up who was (if only Blossom could have figured it out and behaved) the most wonderful home.

SLIDE SHOW

Blossom is so full of life she needs a home who understands her and who are prepared to work with her and continue the training that her last owner started.  She absolutely adores Muddle and they play all the time so if homed with another dog it needs to be big, male and have lots of energy!

02-06-09 UPDATE BY NICKY

Blossom is staffy x breed and because of this she is she will find it even harder to find her forever home. I have spent a lot of time with Blossom since she first arrived here and have never had any problems with her. She is very sweet and gentle with me. If I go into her kennel and sit down she will come and put her paws on my lap and her head on my shoulder. She also gives lovely kisses and is very affectionate. If it wasn't for the dogs I already have at home I would take her. She does like to play rough but is kennelled with Muddle and he loves to play with her.
Blossom loves to work for treats and loves to play however if she doesn't trust and know someone she can jump up and grab hold of clothes. In her previous foster family she loved and respected all family members and was equally loved backed but she did bully one of their dogs so she is looking for a home with the experience to deal with this.

Blossom is by donation only however please bear in mind that Many Tears have incurred vet costs etc to save this dog and your donation will help us to save another.  All our dogs are micro-chipped, inoculated and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so.  Pleased make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying.  To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked and you and all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog.  If you are adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. If you are interest in adopting please call the rescue centre between 10am and 4pm on 01269 843084. We are unable to return phone calls so please try again if your call is not answered.

SUNFLOWER & WILLOW MUST BE HOMED TOGETHER

BEING FOSTERED IN SWANSEA

WILLOW                                          SUNFLOWER

25-04-09 Willow is a poodle cross and Sunflower is a terrier cross, they are both old girls about 12 years old. These two have tragically lost their elderly owner who's dying wish was that his beloved dogs would be kept together and not homed separately or put to sleep. These two angels really are inseparable and are so close that looking after the pair would be a lot easier than 1 younger dog for example. They curled up on top of each other on the front seat of the van that they arrived with us in and have been snuggled up in their bed together ever since. When we took Willow out of the kennel for a bath and a groom Sunflower whined and howled the whole time until we brought her back. Please don't let their age put you off, they are both in good health and don't appear to have any worrying lumps or bumps. They're also fit and well enough to go for longish walks.

These two would be happy in a home with a large garden. They are two lovely natured dogs who haven't got a bad bone in their bodies. They love to chase a ball, are very active for their age and are wonderful with children. We take them for a walks but it takes two of us as they do have a tendency to pull.
Sunflower is the one who guards the house and lets us know if someone is at the door. Willow is the one who follows Sunflower everywhere and she does everything Sunflower does only it is always a minute or two later. She is so funny and a little sweetie.
These dogs really deserve a loving home where they can spend their last years together. I will certainly miss them. They have been a pleasure.

Being fostered in Swansea.  Willow and Sunflower are by donation only - however, please bear in mind that all our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and inoculated and your donation will help us save another dog.

JACKSON

01-06-09 Jackson has tragically been returned for the second time in as many months.  This time his owners found that they couldn't get him get him to respond when they wanted him to stop whatever it was that he was doing e.g. barking at birds in the garden. He is a strong willed dog but isn't at all difficult, especially if you know your dogs or particularly if you've kept terriers. Jackson responds very well to discipline if it's clear cut and he owners don't put up with any nonsense.  He is a dog that if allowed would clash with other dogs in his home and bark at other dogs out on the road/in the park. However, he is a very clever dog that would live with any number of dogs and even cats if his owners ensure that he behaves. Jackson loves to play and would fetch all day.  he would love to be an active dog and live with someone who jogged or took him out cycling. He also adores his cuddles and is very content to curl up on your lap all night and watch the telly with you.

This dog is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying. MAISEY

BEING FOSTERED IN YORK

19-05-09 Maisey is a very pretty collie cross of about 1 year old. She is friendly, clever and eager to please.  She has loved everyone who has handled her and really enjoyed galloping free in our play yard.  She is quite an active girl who would love to do agility, flyball or just have a home where they love long walks and have a garden big enough for her to run around in.

01-06-09 UPDATE

Maisey has been a star from the moment we picked her up.  She jumped straight in the car and lay there all the way back to Yorkshire. She is a very affectionate dog who has 100% recall and responds most to whistling. At first she stayed really close when out and was nervous of other dogs who came over. Now she can't wait to join in the fun!  She has started swimming and is happy to follow our own Lab about.  Maisey can be bossy with treats but after a few corrections she has been fine. She is a 100% house trained - no accidents at all.  Maisey will make someone a friend for life.

NELL

BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHEND ON SEA, ESSEX

01-04-09 Nell is 18 months old and terrified. She was found on a mountain thrown away like rubbish. She was never claimed from the pound so we took her as otherwise she would have been put to sleep. She is well worth working with and loving and she will give you back tenfold of what you put in - I promise!

01-06-09 UPDATE
Nell has been with us for a few weeks now and is still very frightened. I dread to think what might have happened to her in the past to make her so mistrusting of humans. She is a lovely girl and would never bite even when feeling cornered. She is progressing very slowly and she took a treat out of my hand yesterday for the very first time. She loves all my dogs and plays happily with them all day long and is happy in kitchen where her bed is. When I try to take her out she will still fight me, she is terrified when anyone walks passed when out and she is also terrified of traffic. I have stopped battling with her as I felt it was not helping to win her trust and now I feel only time and patience is gonna help. She is always pleased to see me in the mornings and will follow round the garden as long as I dont try to touch her. When in her bed she will let me stroke her and gently brush her but she does not enjoy it. There is a big fear of hands. She does not have a fear of young children even when they are playing around her.

Being fostered in Southend on Sea, Essex.    Please read our adoption procedures before applying. SHEBA

19-05-09 Sheba is a lovely girl. She is a 1 year old collie cross and is very friendly, happy and just pleased to be loved by all. She is good with other dogs also and will make a lovely pet.

30-05-09 UPDATE

Sheba loves to play, luckily her kennel mates are up for it too. She is affectionate, clever and willing and would love a home with another dog to play with.  She is a beautiful girl.  Come and meet her you won't be disappointed.

SEIGFREED

BEING FOSTERED IN NORTHAMPTON

06-05-09 Seigfreed is a 7 year old boxer. He has been a stud dog all his life until now. Sadly he has no muscle on his very wobbly back legs and I suspect his nerve endings are dying so he buckles under. He LOVES to be loved.
Seigfreed needs a special home for the rest of his life although I fear that may not be too long. A grassy garden to sunbath in, kind gentle hands to love him and hold him when the day comes that he can no longer stands and needs to be gently put to sleep. I am desperate to get him what ever happiness I can and maybe when more muscled things will be better. There is no charge for Seigfreed but we will do all the usual - castrate inoculate etc so any donation helps.
He has been good with all the dogs he has met so far. He does not know how to walk on a lead and I think will have never set foot in a home. PLEASE all dog lovers come forward to give him some happiness.

30-05-09 UPDATE
The first day we bought Seigfreed home he was very quiet, his nose didn't stop streaming and he looked very sorry for himself. my eldest son and I sat with him in the garden. My son gave him a brush and I gave him a massage and he became our shadow from then on.  He was quite poorly for the first few days but after a course of antibiotics he seems to have gotten over it and has settled in well. He has found a comfy spot on the sofa that gets the sunshine and he loves to spend most of his day laying there. We have been building up his exercise and he can now walk down the road and into the fields for an off lead plod and sniff. He has even had a run around with a couple of other dogs now and again. We have just taken him to Dorset for a short holiday which he seemed to enjoy although he wasn't impressed by the sea! He has had a few issues with other large male dogs particularly in the house and we are working on this. His legs will never be right but he seems to cope well and we have got him on some joint supplements that will help. He really is a joy to have and has the most gorgeous face.

Being fostered in Rotherthorpe, Northampton.  Please read our adoption procedures before applying. Sigfreed is by donation only - please bear in mind that all our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and inoculated and your donation will help us save another dog.

TOPPER

27-04-09 This is the ever so sweet Topper. He is a 3 yr old male foxhound. This lovely boy would love to find his special home where he could learn how great it can be living indoors. We have been told he gets on well with dogs and has always lived with other dogs so will need to go to a home with another canine companion. Topper is nervous but happy to be handled, he simply needs his own family to show him how life should be.

11-05-09 UPDATE

Topper has learnt a lot since first coming in.  He is very happy to walk down the road with anyone who wants to take him. He socialises well with dogs outside his pack and is actually very good with all dogs.

29-05-09 UPDATE

Topper has really started to come out of himself and is now coming out to play with our other long stayers very happily. He loves to play and will chase and wrestle with any dog that's up for it. His best mates at the moment apart from his kennel mate Dodger are Muddle and Ollie, who he loves to charge around the sand school with. He's still a little nervous with people but is getting better every day and now follows us out and back to his kennel without any issue.

Topper is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire and is by donation only.  However please bear in mind that Many Tears have incurred vet costs etc to save this dog and your donation will help us to save another.  All our dogs are micro-chipped, inoculated and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so.  Please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying.  To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked and you and all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog.  If you are adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. DODGER

27-04-09 Dodger is a 4yr old male Foxhound. This lovely boy arrived at Many Tears simply jumped out of his owners van and took everything in his stride, happy as larry to have lots of fuss and attention. Dodger has only known life with other dogs so will need a home with a dog friend. This fantastic full of character boy needs a home where he can get lots of love and exercise.

11-05-09 UPDATE

Dodger has adjusted well since coming into rescue and is now very happy to walk down the road with us and with our volunteers. He's learnt to socialise with dogs outside of his pack very well. Dodger is good with most dogs but as you can see in his pictures he has a few scars here and there so has probably been in his fair share of scraps but is living very happily with 3 other large males.

29-05-09 UPDATE

Dodger over the last month or so has got so much better at socialising with other dogs. We will take him out now with just about any dog, male or female, big or small, and not expect any trouble. He is a dominant boy though and would be better suited to live with a female, although he has shared most of his life with Topper and they love each other and kennel together with no fights or squabbles.

Dodger is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire and is by donation only. WIST

BEING FOSTERED IN HADLEIGH, SUFFOLK

14-05-09 Wist is a 6 year old ex breeding cocker, she and her sister Winnie have been given to us to find homes. She will get her inward-growing eye lashes operated on and, of course, be spayed before homing. She is a lovely girl but she has never walked on a lead or lived in a home. She will need a home with another dog to help her learn about home life and be her friend.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. 28-05-09 UPDATE

Wist is a gentle, quiet, calm and loving girl. She and her sister Winnie, have been the easiest fosters so far........they are just gorgeous! Wist joined our group of 12 dogs without any hesitation, and has settled in perfectly. She, initially, tried to avoid human contact, but is now actively looking for cuddles and support. We've had no "accidents" at all, and she sleeps through the night without a murmur. She is a little shyer, but more active than her sister, and enjoys trotting round the garden, investigating all the new and interesting smells, followed by a relaxing snooze. She's still getting used to lead walking, but getting better all the time. Wist would suit a kind, patient family, where she would be given time to gain confidence, and become the loving companion that she wants to be. She would also benefit from having a gentle doggy friend to show her the way.

GILLY

BEING FOSTERED IN BREAN, SOMERSET

26-05-09 Gilly is a 5 year old ex breeding Westie bitch. She is a dear lady who is gentle and kind. She will need another dog to live with. It will take time for her to learn about lead walks and all those other things dogs who live in a house know but it will be very rewarding to watch her blossom.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. GAMBLE

BEING FOSTERED IN GRAVESEND, KENT

26-05-09 Gamble is a 9 year old Yorkie who has never lived as a pet before - 9 is not old for a yorkie so she will enjoy getting to know about home comforts. Gamble needs extensive dental work and may not have many teeth left once this has been done.  However, when all her vet work is completed she will be ready for a new life and what could be more rewarding than showing this little lady all about being pampered. Gamble will need another kind dog to show her the way and a kind owner to love her and help her.

PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. MUDDLE

27-01-09 Muddle is about 6 years old and is a fox hound.  He has been returned to us after only two days as his owner's said he wouldn't settle.  Muddle was found by a couple who were driving up in the mountains, they turned round a bend and nearly hit him. He was running in and out of the road from one spot to the next and then back again. They kindly stopped and caught him. He is so sweet, loves a fuss and has a super personality with other dogs and people but Muddle does need A LOT of training and someone who is willing to help him learn about living in a home.

SLIDE SHOW

Muddle needs a really very special home where people will understand that he does need guidance.  He is such a fun boy you will love him but must be prepared to work with him.

13-03-09 UPDATE BY PETER & HELEN
We have a dog in foster care through MTAR and we thought we would go and have a look at the good work they do, and meet some of the characters we see on-line. Meeting Muddle was one of the highlights of our trip. I was asked if I would send in an update, as we spent some time with him and Ramble, and took them for a walk. What can I say . . . for us Muddle lived up to his billing, a big lovable hound, with a hint of anarchy in him. We introduced ourselves to Muddle and Ramble in their run, and they were both affectionate. First impression, Muddle is like a small bear, much bigger and broader than I had anticipated. He was a friendly dog and just wanted to get to know you. Basic commands were a bit lost on him, and excitement took over when the leads were introduced. Once on the lead he was fine.
Walking through reception area was like a celebrity entrance, everybody was pointing and saying hello to Muddle. He certainly has a fan club. Out on the open road and he was happy enough to walk along. I experienced no pulling like I do with my younger dog, who is going through the training stage. Muddle presented no problems for me on the lead, and at the turning point we swapped dogs, and my partner was very impressed at his good nature on the lead. He has no real lead discipline, like walking on the left, and is inclined to wander around from side to side, but regular walking with somebody would soon put that right.
Once you have him walking, you also notice the lovely markings he has on his back. A handsome character all round is Muddle. Back in his run, Muddle is keen to get out again when you leave, and makes a good effort to squeeze out. Muddle is a dog you will love for his character and personality. You must take into account what has been said about his behaviour to date, and that he will try and suit himself, even if it means he has to go under, over or through, to get what he wants. He will never be the world’s most obedient dog, and he would be a lot of hard work, love and patience, but he would be a wonderful companion, and with him there would never be a dull moment you feel. If I could, I would take him home tomorrow, but he will need a lot of time and commitment, and you will be rewarded in watching a wonderful dog accept you into his world.

15-03-09 UPDATE

Muddle is thrilled to have his friend Blosson back.  They play non stop all day but he still needs  home.  Please get in touch if you can offer Muddle a kind and patient home who understand that his behaviour will take time to correct.  Despite he lack of knowledge about living in a home he is one big and very beautiful dog.

21-05-09 UPDATE

Mudlle gets everybody to join his favourite game of tunnel hide and seek!

Muddle is by donation only because he is - well Muddle!!!  He is just loved but everyone here but does need a patient home who are prepared to trained him not to counter surf and show him how to live in a home.   Please bear in mind that Many Tears have incurred vet costs etc to save this dog and your donation will help us to save another. MARLEY

17-04-09 Marley is a 1 year old terrier cross.  He has been returned as his owners feel they cannot cope with his exuberant nature.  He does need training as he has not learnt any manners.  He could live as an only dog or with another calm dog but does need someone who is prepared to put in the time and effort he needs.  Marley is a lovely boy who just needs a loving home.

He arrived at the centre having spent some time with a fosterer. Here he has been the sweetest fellow, very friendly and easy to work with, but that is not the report from the fosterer. He hated her castrated boxer, hated direction and could be snappy. Therefore we are looking for an experienced terrier home. His bad behaviour could partly be because he was disturbed, displaced and needed to be castrated etc, so maybe once settled and neutered he will not as bad.  but we tell the truth so need the right home. If I had not known what the foster told me this update would read, "Marley is full of love and kisses and just wants to be someone's very special boy."

21-0-09 UPDATE

Marley's owners got him as a pup and never socialized him or took him to training.  He was not castrated him and judging by his manners on a lead never walked either. In the short time that he's been with us we've done all these things and found that Marley is a champion. He's a very loving dog who is desperate to please and receive his pat on the head for being a good boy.  He would be a very loyal and faithful companion for any sensible dog owner.  If homed with children he would be best with teenagers rather than younger ones.
He meets and mixes with other dogs very well if controlled and after only a few days with an experienced fosterer forgotten nearly all of the bad habits his owners had allowed him to develop. He is still a little wary of strangers entering his house or area, due to being unsocialised with people and dogs but although he will bark at people that knock on the door he will listen to his person when they tell him it's alright. He loves to be with his person and will stick by their side inside and out but is also fine to be left in the house with his other doggy friends.

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue please make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying. HAPPY

BEING FOSTERED NEAR MANY TEARS IN SOUTH WALES

19-05-09 Happy is 3 year old terrier cross.  Sadly he has had a badly broken leg which has never been set.  It clicks in and out and drags along. I think the vet will probably have to amputate as it's such an old injury.  He is a dear little chap who gets on fine with his kennel mates.

04-03-09 Helga is a 3 years old female Westie who is no longer needed for breeding. She knows nothing of pet life and will need time to learn how to walk on a lead and to be house trained. She will need another dog in her new home to teach her about her new life.

15-05-09 UPDATE
Helga I feel could go as only dog as long as someone is home for most of the day as she just loves human contact. She likes nothing better than getting lots of cuddles. She walks well on the lead and when out for her walk she is more interested in me than the other dogs. She just wants to please.

25-04-09 Timothy was sadly returned to us today. His family loved him very much and are all very upset but have felt that they were unable to cope with him. He's been brilliant with their children and mostly brilliant with the dogs too, but he's very interested in his food and in getting at it. So much so that this family found it hard to keep him controlled when there was food around. He's always been ok for us at the kennels and while he's definitely a foodie guy he's not been involved in fights for it and has never bitten us or growled or any of the like because of it.
He is a strong minded dog and maybe his family hadn't the experience with dogs that we have here. They said that he has scrapped with their other dogs because of food and that he hasn't been happy to be told to leave their own dinners alone. Here he has always been such an easy dog for us and, after coming back this afternoon, he still behaves very well.
Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, Timothy has lost 2 homes and one foster home and has been bounced in and out of the kennels since first coming to us from a breeder. We are desperate now for someone that can control a headstrong dog and is happy to work through any teething or settling problems he might have in his forever home. He has many good points; he loves people and children, is perfectly housetrained, mixes and plays well with nearly all dogs and is one of those special characters that works his way into your heart. He definitely the type of dog that will give you stories to tell about him for the rest of your life. If you have experience with hounds please give this guy a chance, he won't let you down.

A NOTE FROM A BEAGLE OWNER
I have just been reading about your dogs and was really sad to read about Timothy. I have a beagle and perhaps this information may be of use to potential adopters and may save Timothy going to another home where they are just not prepared for a hound. I did not take on a Beagle lightly. I researched until my fingers were sore and my phone bill was high! They are extremely driven by food! I thought I would be able to deal with this. However, Maggie is now nearly 3 and if we want a peaceful meal I shut her behind her baby gate while we eat. She can see us and we usually give her a bone or a pig ear. Otherwise if one of the children gets down from the table for any reason it is "watch my plate!" Even whilst sitting in your seat she can be very sneaky and get something from your plate by very quietly sneaking under your arm! It is hard to be cross as she is just adorable and just can't help herself, it smells so good! My greatest concern about owning a Beagle was being able to walk her off the lead. From day one we were teaching her recall. When she was able to go out we took her out on a long line to the park and practiced there. Now we are able to walk her without any trouble. She wears a bell as she tends to be in the woods out of sight (particularly in the summer when the undergrowth is lush) but I know she is always nearby or that she has responded to my call by her jingle. I am very careful about who I leave her with if we are away. I have a very trusted dog sitter who understands her Beagleness, but I would not ask a friend to have her unless they had a very secure garden and completely understood her needs. A Beagle is a hound and this means their very nature is different to, say, gundogs. Their noses take over. They cannot help themselves! However, they are adorable and I would not part with my hound for the world. I still take her to weekly training which she loves and we go to agility which is such great fun.

11-05-09 UPDATE

Timothy has had no interest and although maybe beagles aren't everybody's thing this special guy definitely deserves a second look. Timmy with us is just brilliant, he will kennel and socialise with any number of dogs, males or females, big or small and loves to play with our playful dogs. He is good on or off a lead and his recall is getting to be close to perfect, especially if you use treats as a training reward (this guy loves to follow his nose and his belly). He really is food driven and people that have returned him have found him awkward with their other dogs at feeding time but for us he's very well behaved. This is probably due to the experience of our staff members and we would expect that anyone who knows their dogs won't struggle with Timmy in any respect.

ALICE

BEING FOSTERED NEAR MANY TEARS IN SOUTH WALES

23-06-09 Alice is looking for a new home because she has a fear of children which is making it very difficult for her owner to walk her.  Even their voices can frighten her.  Alice was originally found as a stray so we don't know what has caused this fear but she really needs a experienced, extremely kind and loving home to help her overcome them.  She is not completely housed trained so you will need to be prepared to help her learn this.
Alice has an enormous amount of energy and chews when left probably because she is not getting the exercise she needs. She can access all sorts of things on benches and out of waste bins but she's as bright as a button and someone with the time would be able to teach her this is not acceptable.  Alice definitely needs a home with another dog. She love all dogs - she happily greets any and all when we are out, she craves human company at all times and quickly gets distressed if she thinks there's no human around so a home where someone is at home for most of the day is essential and where they can build up to the amount of time she can be left.
Alice needs a home where they are prepared to help her with her fears and phobias so she can have a happy life.

JERRY

BEING FOSTERED IN MELKSHAM, WILTSHIRE

30-03-09 Jerry is about 2½ years old.  He was handed into a vets as the bottom part of his leg had been chewed off.  He had probably been caught in a badger trap and done this act to save his own life as the cruel setter of this trap did not even have the decency to check his traps.  Anyway brave Jerry had such infection eating up the bone that the leg and shoulder blade was gangrenous and all had to be removed. Despite this he is a happy sweet fellow and he is in great need of a very happy ending.

From an adopter
We adopted JJ (formerly Vinny) over two years ago, shortly after he had had the same operation as Jerry, removal of front leg and shoulder. Balance was JJ's first hurdle, but with regular short walks and carries when he got tired, he achieved this relatively quickly being young enough to adapt (he was only 8 months old).
The next thing was stamina. It takes a lot more energy to move your body in a new way, and I'm sure JJ had a few aches and pains to begin with as his muscles adjusted. We did some hydrotherapy with him and also he had acupuncture and massage, spiritual healing and Reiki!! But his baptism of fire came one day whilst walking at Blagdon Lake. All the dogs were walking across a bridge over a pond when one of the others barged past JJ and knocked him into the water!! I went into panic mode (of course) and started wading out to my floundering boy, but then he began to swim really strongly, and although I guided him to the side, he got straight back in again!! Far from putting him off, the experience gave him so much confidence in the water and he has never looked back.
Apart from Glycoflex to build his muscles (like human Glucosamine) and Fish oils for his joints, he needs no medication and can walk 5 miles without a hitch, jump in and out of the car and on and off the bed. He is a happy, playful and very mischievous chap and I have to say that most of the time we forget he even has one leg less than the others.
I'd say the most important part of JJ's recovery was swimming, it is great for strength, stamina and balance and as often as we can, we get him in the ponds, lakes and rivers. Proper hydrotherapy is much more available nowadays also, and the vet normally know where your nearest centre is. Three-legged dogs can lead normal, fulfilling and happy lives and are much more interested in a cuddle, a nice walk or what tit-bits they can get, than worrying about their physical differences (we humans could learn a lot from dogs!) so hope this helps whoever gives Jerry that special home.

WELLER

18-01-09 Weller is back looking for a home. He is 3 years old and was returned as he apparently did not hit it off with his new owner's dog. James took him home to his collies as he came in so late and he got on with all. The only issue we have ever seen is he can be food dominant. But Weller understands very quickly and easily who is boss and who to love, honour and obey. He is so clever, has done agility training and can do all obstacles very well. He is loving, house trained and oh so special. He will bark in the car if you are not boss but if you are you get instant respect and he is fine. He needs an experienced adult home wanting a dog to do something with and let him use his brains. He is a super dog!

slide show

Weller is so clever, has done agility training and can do all obstacles very well. He is loving, house trained and just thrives on training, agility, and anything that uses his brain.  He needs an owner who he can respect but who is also willing to put in the time he needs to become the super dog he will be.

31-01-09 UPDATE

Unfortunately for Weller his owners weren't able to cope with his behavioural problems and had to return him. The family and their dogs all love him very much but Weller is a dog that really needs an expert home with people who have experience of dogs that will bite.
Weller first came to us last year as his young female owner couldn't keep him due to a change of circumstances. She had him from a pup and did a very good job with his training, even taking him to agility classes where he performs very well. He is a very bright and active collie who is very affectionate with people and even strangers. He is fantastic with most other dogs, always wanting to make friends and play. When he respects and understands you he is a brilliant dog who's obedience would impress anybody.
However, he is a dog that has bitten both here at the kennels and out at homes and with several different triggers. He has problems with food and has bitten to get it and to keep us or other dogs away from it. He also has problems with dominance and has learnt that growling or snapping at people will get him what he wants. Mostly, he's bitten when he's been corrected or told off by people who can't command his respect.
Experienced owners that know how to control a difficult dog won't struggle with him but he is unfortunately a dog that we cannot home him where there are children or people without good dog sense. Weller would love to go home with other collies, with an single owner or an experienced couple who know about the breed and are confident they can make him knuckle under and listen to them. He is a very clever dog and if pushed in the right direction would be a real star.

Weller is by donation only as he needs a very special dog savvy owner.  He is absolutely no problem with James who he spends a lot of time with.  In the right hands someone will give this boy a wonderful home and in return get a truly amazing dog.  Please bear in mind that Many Tears have incurred vet costs etc to save Weller and your donation will help us to save another.
Pleased make sure you have read our adoption procedures before applying.
