LEAH & HERBIE

ATTENTION
I am one very proud mum!

Leah, my daughter and her collie Herbie (rescued of course) were selected with others to represent England in agility. Herbie is fed on BURNS dog food who sponsor them.  They travelled to Germany and competed against many countries. Germany won and Britain was second and yes it was LEAH and HERBIE who won that silver. Yes I am proud, in fact, I am elated!!!!!

FOSTERERS

If you are a registered fosterer for Many Tears and have space one of our dogs PLEASE contact Kevin on 01249 655323
THANK YOU!

These dogs really need homes but while they are waiting it would be lovely if they could be in foster homes:

If you want to join the Many Tears team of fosterers and are prepared to take large and/or male dogs please complete our Foster Application Form.

Poor Ivor has been here quite some time and he is really just a pup.  He needs a home where someone is there most of the day who are prepared to train him and give him the exercise he really needs.

Rafter needs a very special person/family.  He is such a beautiful dog who hates kennel life and needs someone to work with him and give him a chance.  He does not like other male dogs but can play nicely (although sometimes a little roughly) with bitches.  He has been rejected, ignored and overlooked for a long time.

Stuart is just an absolute darling.  Why he's still here we have no idea.  He can be a little shy of men until he knows them but loves to play ball and will make a wonderful family pet.

NORRIS & BALTO

The dogs below all have medical problems that need to be sorted out before they are ready for adoption.  They each have their own page where you can follow their progress.  You can apply to adopt these dogs but obviously they will not go to new homes until they are fit enough.  They are all being fostered in Wales.

Norris is our cav pup who has to have surgery to hopefully mend his crooked bones and give him a chance of life.

BANTA

BEING FOSTERED IN PAIGNTON, DEVON

18-06-08 Banta is a year old Westie female. She has been in a breeding kennels all her life so like the others will need help to learn about house training etc. She is a little portly, but will love joining in a fitness program with her new parents once adopted!

06-07-08 FOSTER UPDATE

Banta has been with us for a week now and has settled in so well.  She loves all she meets - young and old but she does not like cats. Banta has got on well with all my dogs (all 4) but I would say she is best with dogs her own size and above. Her house training is going well with a little help from the treat jar.
Banta loves the hands on love and will sit next  to you all day if you let her. She walks well on her lead and does not pull. All she needs now is her forever home. Are you out there????

26-07-08 FOSTER UPDATE

Banta has been with us three weeks now and she is a lovely little girl. She still needs to lose a little bit of weight but we are trying!
Banta walks well on a lead and is now fully house trained. She loves going to the beach and has even had a paddle in the sea.  This picture is a tired Banta after her swim in the sea for the first time!
Banta is so confident and she would be ok as a only dog and with others but does love all the attention she can get.
She is very loving and is happy to sit and cuddle up of an evening.  Please help us find her a forever home.

PLEASE NOTE:  Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before.  They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from.  This also helps those who have never been walked on a lead.  They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience.

Being fostered in Paignton, Devon. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Foster Dog Adoption Form or contact Kevin on 01249 655323To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked, you and all members of your family and any dogs who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog.  We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £150 for our foster dogs to help cover the cost of transporting them to their foster homes. If adopting a puppy we ask you to attend training classes and you will be asked to provide details of puppy training classes in your area.

FRIDAY

25-07-08  Friday is a 4 year old Yorkshire Terrier cross that has come to us from breeding kennels. Like most of our ex breeding dogs she is a little nervous and needs to learn about people but she's really sweet natured and isn't as frightened as some. She's good with dogs and was very keen to make friends with our office dogs and she wasn't that worried about the lead although it was probably the first time she'd worn one.

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked, you and all members of your family and any dogs who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog. If adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £140.  If you are interest in adopting please call the rescue centre between 10am and 4pm on 01269 843084. ELSIE

BEING FOSTERED IN BECKINGTON, SOMERSET

It is with a very heavy heart that Elsie owner have had decided to rehome Elsie through ill health as he is not able to give her the exercise she needs. She is a beautiful, gentle 2 year old collie.  She quite small. She is good with dogs loves gentle loving and wants to please.  She is a fantastic little girl, loyal, house trained, obedient and affectionate.
Elsie does pull on the lead but will happily engage with any other dogs and when off lead returns to a whistle or voice command. The only fault her owner can say is that she likes digging holes in the flower borders and barks at passers by but even that has improved over the last couple of weeks.
Ideally Elsie would suit a very active family where there is plenty of outdoor action going on from day to day.  She has not been tested with cats and although she has not lived with very small children there is no reason to think she could not.

Elsie is staying with her current owner as a foster dog until a new home can be found.

Being fostered in Beckington, Somerset. DUSKY & LOLITA

23-07-08 UPDATE ON DUSKY AND LOLITA

Lolita is a fantastic dog, a little untrusting but eager to please once she knows you.
Dusky takes a little longer to get to know people but once he does he's loyal and responsive.
They are both very playful, they would each make an ideal companion for a dog that wants to play and chase around. Although the pictures here are of this brother and sister together, these dogs have actually never lived with each other and are at the moment sharing kennels with other dogs. Lolita with Alfie and Dusky with Sundance. Neither of them have been a problem for us in any respect.  They are great with our staff, volunteers and with the dogs and other animals we have here. Why they are both still here is a mystery as these two are proper charmers.

If you can offer either Dusky or Lolita a home please get in touch.  These are really beautiful dogs and do not have to be homed together.  For more information see their postings below.

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked, you and all members of your family and any dogs who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog. DUSKY

13-06-08 Dusky is a 16 month old Husky x GSDs.  He came here with Lolita his sister.  These two dogs came from a monastery.  They were owned by two monks and lived separately. However, if they got together they would forget their re-call and run off to play, chase sheep and be naughty so they have come to us to find forever homes. They are really not used to children and the outside world as they lived in a quiet paradise.  However, they have met the monks pet elephant  and I doubt many dogs could boast that! They have been great to handle, gentle and cooperative.

CUTHBERT

BEING FOSTETED IN COWBRIDGE, VALE OF GLAMORGAN

19-05-08 Cuthbert is one beautiful friendly and gentle collie. He has come from the pound on his last day, and is truly a lovely dog. He is about 14 months old and is good with other dogs.

30-05-08 FOSTER UPDATE
What a darling Cuthbert is.  Friendly and loving with all on four and two legs...  maybe a little too friendly with cats, but we are working on that!   I think he is beginning to recognise his name (that we have shortened for ease), the words no, down and sit; all in five days.  Cuthbert is obviously not use to home life but being intelligent he is quickly learning manners and taking a delight in finding out about home comforts. He does not like to be left alone but we can leave him happily with our other dog.   And to top it all, he not only has brains but is a stunner to look at as well!

07-06-08 FOSTER UPDATE
Cuthbert has been with us for almost  a fortnight.  It seems that he  knows he belongs to our family and this has increased his confidence.  Bert sits without being told when he sees us with the lead and enjoys walks and romps in the county side; he never lets us out of his sight.  Recall is very good except when there is another dog in the vicinity;  and then he forgets himself being caught up in the sheer enjoyment of doggy play and friendship.  Cuthbert would love to be re-homed with another dog/dogs.
It appears he has had to struggle to get sufficient food in the past, and hence, takes every  opportunity to find some.  However, this is improving as he learns he doesn't have to scavenge anymore.  He sits nicely when given his food bowl and will only approach to eat when given the command.  Having been corrected, he now walks pass rubbish bins instead of burying his nose inside.
Cuthbert remains a loving, gentle  and intelligent dog who tries terribly hard to please his foster family......it's sheer joy having him around!

23-07-08 FOSTER UPDATE

Cuthbert is really settled now, he is obedient and a very happy dog.  He enjoys being outside walking or rambling in the countryside. He has perfect recall now, even when there are other dogs around; he waits for the signal when he knows he can go off to play with another dog and comes back to our sides when called.   He loves ball games and springs up to catch the ball in mid air.....really stunning to watch!  He is learning to bring the ball back to us now instead of sitting with it between his paws.   Cuthbert enjoys being rubbed down after a wet or muddy walk and also enjoys a good brush to his fur.  In fact he simply loves to be petted, touched and given affection.
All Cuthbert's bad habits like, paws on the work tops and head in the kitchen rubbish bin are well and truly in the distant past.  The only remaining problem we are starting to tackle now is his reluctance to be left alone.  He is fine left with our own dog; but totally on his own and he either barks or howls....but this is intermittent, and I think it's  getting better as Cuthbert gains the confidence in understanding that we are not going to desert him for ever; he is not destructive in any way.  Although not essential Cuthbert would probably find it much easier to be homed with another dog.
Cuthbert is a lovely friendly boy who loves all people and other dogs; he loves cats as well and finds them interesting. They will rub against him and hold their tails high and don't seem to be put out at all by his 'Collie Stare'.

Being fostered in Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan. STUART

18-05-08 Poor Stuart - at just a year old I fear he has had to cope with a lot. He has been in rescue in Ireland and now has come over on a rough ferry crossing here. We were told he is a busy fellow, suitable to go to an active family and that he is good with dogs. He is about small collie sized (although he does look smaller in my picture.) He was very worried about the men he met this morning but now is easing down and beginning to wag a little - and I got a kiss too.

UPDATE 20-05-08

As you can see Stuart loves playing ball and running about. He can be a little scared when he first meet men but if they have food or a toy that lasts for a second!  Stuart needs an active home where they will give him lots of love and attention.

06-03-08 UPDATE

Stuart is a playing machine.  You throw - he retrieves (well maybe not to you, but nearly all the way!). He loves any activities and as long as there is a toy involved and learns very easily. He is a busy fellow and keen as mustard to please.

Click here to see Stuart on this video.

23-07-08 UPDATE

I'm Stuart and the world is my toy box! If you throw me a ball I will always run and get it, and I will always bring it back for you, and then I'll always sit and wait for you to throw it again. It's good game this, I could do it all day but here I'm lucky if they play with me for five minutes before rushing off to play with some other dog. Can't I come home with you? I promise I'll catch every ball and fetch every stick and I won't dribble on them too much if you don't like that sort of thing.
Everyone here says I'm fantastic but I'm still here so what's gone wrong? You've gotta ask yourself "Do I want a boring, easy peasy dog that wants to sleep and cuddle all day? Or do I want a proper dog, like me, that'll drag you outta bed at 6 to go for my 10 mile jog (and then cuddle for the rest of the day if nobody sees us)?"
Stuart's only problem is that he is very afraid of some men until he makes friends. Once he knows you he is faultless, the perfect dog for someone that likes to play with their dog and for their dog to play with them.

BUD

23-07-08 Bud the Cocker Spaniel is a 9 year old gentleman who's owner has become ill and has had to make plans for Bud in a hurry. This poor chap is a bit shellshocked at the moment and is finding everything a bit hard to take in.  He would really appreciate the chance of going to a home or foster care as soon as possible. He has been a well loved pet and is used to dogs, people and children. He's lived with children over 9 but should be ok to be with younger kids also.

Because of his age we will waiver the adoption fee for Bud but he will still be castrated and has been inoculated, wormed and microchipped already so we would gratefully appreciate any donation made.

TARKA

23-07-08 Tarka is a 2 year old welsh collie. She came to us with Teil as she is no longer needed to work the sheep on her farm and the farmers thought she might like a second chance as a pet. She is very good with other dogs and incredibly sweet with people, a lot of working or breeding dogs are very nervous but these two collies are very used to people and to being handled and are very keen to make friends and ask to be stroked. Just like Teil she's very responsive and dead clever, she'd love a hobby like agility or at least would like to learn a few tricks and show off to the other dogs in the neighbourhood. She walks beautifully on a lead and though not housetrained she would learn pretty quickly.

We are unable to return phone calls so please try again if your call is not answered or email us at sw.vanatta@virgin.net.

TEIL

23-07-08 Teil is a 3 and a half year old welsh collie. She's lived on a farm where they no longer need her to work the sheep and so she's looking to be a loved pet instead. Although she hasn't lived indoors she should housetrain quickly and is she already very friendly and happy to go for walks with people. She is good with other dogs and her temperament is faultless so should be ok with nice children. Teil is bright as a button and will do whatever you want her to do once she knows what it is, prefect collie to train for agility, flyball or whatever else you fancy.

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked, you and all members of your family and any dogs who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog. If adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. ELLIE

BEING FOSTERED IN TEWKESBURY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE

08-08-08 Ellie is an 11 month lab bitch.  She has been living outside where she dug holes chewed and amused herself.  She needs to be trained and domesticated, but she understands completely about cuddles and is very friendly. She came from a home that could not cope. She is a normal active lab just not trained.

23-07-08 FOSTER UPDATE

Basic training started from the moment I brought Ellie home. It's very clear that Ellie has not had any basic puppy training at all so I have started teaching her to come to her name, walk to heal& sit and stay and down on command all of which she should have learnt at a much earlier age, but she is coming a long beautifully.  She will need someone who has knowledge of basic puppy training, or to take her to dog social classes where she can continue her training.  However, I must say her training is coming on like a treat.
Ellie doesn't like to be left for long - a hour at the most.  She gets bored quickly, she likes to be doing STUFF she's a BUSY BUSY girl. She is a little bouncy at times so she would suit someone at home all day and with children over the age of five. She is a beautiful sweet natured girl with good looks to match, who just wants to be everyone's friend.

Being fostered in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.  If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the Foster Dog Adoption Form or contact Kevin on 01249 655323To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked, you and all members of your family and any dogs who will be living with the dog you want to adopt MUST come to meet the new dog.  if adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area.  We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £150 for our foster dogs to help cover the cost of transporting them to their foster homes.

TWO SHOES

23-07-08 Two Shoes is an 18 months old rotti. She's come to us from a breeder who is no longer breeding rottweillers and so doesn't need her. She isn't housetrained or lead trained but would learn quickly, she is eager to meet people and be friends and was bathed by two of our volunteers who found her to be a darling. She's good with dogs and although she probably has little or no experience of children she's a real sweetie and would be good with good kids.

PLEASE NOTE:  Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before.  They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from.  This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead.  They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience.

TWIX

23-07-08 Twix is a 3 year old rottie from a breeding kennels.  The people there have stopped using this breed and no longer needed her. She is a little more cautious and wary of people than Two Shoes but is just as sweet and is happy to be with people once she's got used to them. She is good with other dogs and would be good with children if they were nice to her and understood that she's had a hard start in life.

23-07-08 Penny is a 3 year old ex breeding Schnauzer. Like all our ex breeding dogs she is a little nervous but she is used to a lead and is more used to people than most. She wasn't wanted by the breeder as she killed her pups.  This is something mothers might do if they feel insecure and worry that their babies aren't safe.

If you are interest in adopting please call the rescue centre between 10am and 4pm on
01269 843084. We are unable to return phone calls so please try again if your call is not answered or email us at sw.vanatta@virgin.net.

PICCOLO

BEING FOSTERED IN WREXHAM

16-06-08 Piccolo is a 1 year old Biscon. She was to small to breed so not needed.

22-07-08 FOSTER UPDATE

Piccolo and Poco are the tiniest sweetest little dogs I have ever seen. We picked them up yesterday at lunchtime and in the 30 hrs they have been with us they have blossomed and bloomed.
Piccolo seems to be experiencing problems with her back legs, so we will watch her for a few days then if no improvement is seen she will have x-rays taken. Saying that we have seen a slight improvement today as she has been a busy little bee playing with all her new friends. She is as cute as a button and as sweet as fudge.  She would be more than happy simply to sit on your knee from morning till night as she loves her cuddles and kisses.
They are both beautiful, sweet, intelligent and simply to die for.

Poco has a very bad eye infection which is being treated and an ulcer on one eye. She can see a little and her other senses lead her to where everything is in the house. She has not bumped into anything as yet and finds her way around perfectly happily.  She is absolutely adorable. She loves cuddles and wants to be petted around the clock which, of course, we are more than happy to do! They are both beautiful, sweet, intelligent and simply to die for.

FIZZ

BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHAMPTON

13-06-08 Fizz is stunning whippet cross. She is 14 months old, good with dogs but will chew indoors. She had a home but came back as the adoptor did not want to crate train her and found her too lively. She is a sweet and very attractive dog.

18-06-08 FOSTER UPDATE
Well, we made it home to Southampton on Saturday with 4 dogs and 2 humans in the car. No escapees and no fights but Fizz hogged the whole back seat so I, and our own 2 dogs, spent 3 hours scrunched up in 1 corner!  She settled down immediately with us and showed herself to be a very chilled, jolly dog.
When she met the cats her instinct was, of course, to chase since she’s a lurcher but she has since been duffed up by one of them (aka Slasher) a couple of times and is a lot more wary but has still has to be watched.  She is good with my dog, now 19, and hasn’t yet knocked him over, even during her loony, turbo moments in the garden but I can see her being too fast and too rough for some dogs.  She is good with food ie not competitive and has not taken his leftovers or been protective of hers.
Bedtime seems to be a problem as, despite being given a gorgeous futon (!) she wants to sleep on my bed. Luckily I have no partner to complain but she is very forceful about it and takes up huge amounts of room. This is going to require a lot of training I think.
As she’s still a youngster, Fizz jumps up a lot. She does get down when told but as she’s getting more relaxed here she is also mouthing and nipping. Again, more training but as she’s tall this could be a problem with smaller children.
All in all, Fizz is great fun and I am in love with her already. She is very playful when she is in the mood but when she’s quiet she is very soppy and cuddly. It’s a lovely combination.

26-06-08 FOSTER UPDATE
Fizz has settled in really well here. She feels like part of the family.  She is still very bouncy and jumps up which can be a problem for my daughter (who's only 10 and therefore short) but we are dealing with it.  She is getting better at sleeping on her own bed - doesn't get up on mine till at least halfway through the night!!
I can now let her off the lead having worked out the best place for her to be walked. In busy parks she was distracted by activity miles away, such as children or other dogs and ran way out of range very quickly. I took her to a quiet park but where we live it is fairly rural so again she spotted a rabbit in a field at the other end of the park and went. I had to follow her through the fence and the undergrowth to get her back!  We now stick to the open forest where she can run as well as a favourite patch of open land where she can chase rabbits. She can now be recalled from a distance, walks to heel off lead and is fairly obedient as long as not distracted. Because of her speed and her lurcher instincts you would have to be keep quite tight control and stay vigilant.
She is obviously trained and knows loads of commands. It has just taken a while to figure them out! She is good with livestock and shows no interest. She has calmed down a lot with regular exercise but needs at least 2 short walks a day plus lots of play.  She loves children and enjoys lots of cuddles when she is quiet but, when she's resting, needs to be left in peace.
We all think she's gorgeous and a real character for the right home.

21-07-08 FOSTER UPDATE
In the last couple of weeks we've had dramas such as my son (grrr) letting Fizz out so she was missing for 2 hrs. Got her back through Pet Log thank goodness. She's gone berserk on a cricket pitch much to my embarrassment and the list goes on.
In the last week or so, however, she seems to have finally got a few basic rules (apart from jumping on the dining room table). She has stopped jumping up so much, she has stopped chasing the cats so much and now gets love and cuddles from both of them, she ignores the guinea pigs when they're out, when walked she comes back quicker when called and is actually returning regularly on her own to check on me. She has been left a few times for a couple of hours and, through dint of having shut doors and given her chewees, little damage has been done.
Generally she is much better behaved but hasn't lost any of her wacky personality. She loves my daughter who is quiet with her and they spend hours in a mutual love-in.
I would reiterate, however, that she needs to have someone at home with her for most of the day and needs at least two walks a day, particularly first thing in the morning or she will drive you mad with her hyperactivity. She gets on well with other dogs altho she takes them by surprise by her speed and springy-ness. She has learnt to enjoy water and loves splashing in rivers altho' she doesn't like the sea so much.
Basically she is a gorgeous dog with a lovely personality who would suit a very active family with older children who are prepared to put a lot of time into walking and playing with her.

MILO

17-07-08 Milo is very sad. He is 20 months old and has lived with children. He has lost his home and is missing them. He is a chunky chocolate lab.

23-07-08 UPDATE
Milo has been returned from his foster home and he didn't get along with the resident dog.  His fosterer is very sad as she says he is a lovely boy but just didn't like her dog!  He is very people orientated and she could do anything with him.  We will test him with dogs here and update further.

SUNDAY

20-07-08
This is Sunday.  She is a 3 year old boxer who we collected from a pound today. She was given up as unwanted by her owners and collected by a dog warden, who used a pole as they thought the dog was horribly aggressive. The dog warden told the pound owner that he thought the dog should be put down immediately but thankfully for Sunday the pound owner didn't do so, although he did also tell us that she was dangerous. She was seen by two other rescues who felt terrible to see her shivering at the back of the kennel because they hadn't the room for her, so they called us and told us all about the trouble she had been for the dog warden and we decided to go and see for ourselves.
James went to the pound and walked up to her kennel - no barking, no aggression, Sunday just tried to hide at the back, obviously terrified. He walked into the kennel calmly and quite quickly made friends, put on a lead and walked her to van. Sunday jumped up on her own and made the crate her bed and curled up all the way home. We have seen no aggressive behaviour at all.  She was easy to microchip and worm and we've picked her up, played with her, walked her the lot.

Sunday is obviously nervous but she is a typical boxer, very playful and very bouncy but from what we've seen so far completely harmless.

BELL'S PUPS

Here are Bell's four beautiful pups.  They will soon be ready for there new homes.
ONLY TOASTIE IS LEFT!!!!

FLICKER - 23-07-08 BEING HOME VETTED

20-07-08 Flickler is the tiny only female of the bunch. We were not sure she'd make it, but here she is. We subsidized meal times as her BIG FAT brothers were getting in there and not giving her a chance, She loads smaller than them, she will be long coated. She is a survivor. I play ever day with them all and test them. she is alert yet servile. She is more immature and less developed by what seems 2 or 3 days, but I think she will catch up by the next up date. she is 3 weeks old now. Just beautiful!!!!

TRUE - 23-07-08 BEING HOME VETTED

20-07-08 True is the second in command. He is less happy to lie on his back and struggles. He is the second most inquisitive, and second largest. He is the first however to find your lap and snuggle.

TOASTIE

20-07-08 Toastie is the most servile of the boys, also the one who loves the sun and to be warm. He is so smart but not as bold as his brothers, He is always watching me and comes already to call, amazing really!

STORY - 23-07-08 BEING HOME VETTED

Story (well Bill and I call him Flash Gordon, as he has a sort of flash on his markings). He is the first to do every thing including get into trouble. He is fearless. He hates to be laid on his back and fights this and carries on not giving up. He is needless to say the biggest. I call his name and he runs as fast as he can the other way! He does not care if his mates are not around and has met my dog with great courage.

All are incredible pups, which I have been able to implant human touch, smell and voice from day one as Bell is so good and gentle.

BARLEY

BEING FOSTERED IN COPTHORNE, WEST SUSSEX

19-07-08  Barley is a beautiful Golden Retriever bitch who originally came from a breeder as she was too small to breed from.   She is about a year old and was adopted but has been returned as the resident dog did not get along with her.  Barley made continuous efforts to make friends but was constantly rejected.  Her new owners were devastated by having to return her but felt it was best for both dogs.  They believe Barley would be best homed with another friendly and playful dog who she can learn from but also have a game with.
Barley does have separation anxiety which we are working on and she has no recall and does not walk well on a lead.   Anyone considering adopting her must be willing to continue our work and also take her to training classes.

FROM BARLEY'S PREVIOUS OWNERS
Barley is a sweet, gentle little girl who desperately wants to be loved. We did not want to, but had to let her go because we have a nine year old dog who just could not adapt to living with a young dog and avoided her, becoming miserable and this also meant she did not give Barley the support that she needed. It has shown that Barley needs a home with one (or more) younger, friendly dogs that welcome newcomers and are happy to cuddle up.
     W
e have no children so cannot say how she would be with them, she can be nervous around strangers but once she has accepted you, she comes out of her shell and you are showered with cuddles and licks. Sudden noises make her jump a little but she is doing really well and recovers quickly. Her housetraining has gone really well and she has now been clean in the house for almost two weeks and knows to go to the door to signal she wants to go into the garden. She will need regular brushing, but is quite happy to stand still while you brush her.

She has learned a few things from our dog like sitting for treats and food and sleeping while people eat, she picks up commands quickly and learns well and may benefit from some classes to train and help socialise her. We have been walking her on a Halti collar which is going well but will need plenty more practice as she is a bit nervous walking when there are loud noises and this can distract her. She travels well in a crate in the car laying quietly and sleeping on longer journeys.

With us she has struggled when left as our dog has not given her any support, she is fine while people are around but has found it hard to settle when we are not. It will take time for her to gain her confidence and this anxiety will need to be worked through with the help and support of any dog she will be left with.

We are devastated to lose her and not be able to give her the home for life she deserves but had to put the well being of both dogs above our own feelings. Barley is a very loving dog who needs love and support and in return will give back all the love, loyalty and cuddles anyone could ask for.
