Many Hills City - A History

IMPORTANT NOTICE

With the continuation of "Operation C", the history of the beloved friend City that previously appeared here is WRONG.
Not, note, HERESY (which is, of course, a felony [Brown v. Board of Reeducation, 2003]). Not the result of propoganda, but simply misinformation.
The history of the Federation of Many Hills City and the associated history of the Lovesian Collective shall, then, be updated (in accordance with the guidelines of Misinformation Community Seven v. the Hillsian Broadcasting Corporation, 2005) in due course. Best Wishes for 2008.

A short time after the First Phenian War ravaged Europe, an archipelago in the IJeelmeer, or possibly the Waddensee, declared independence from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This archipelago become a federal state, composed of the States of Conehill, Oddhill, Townhill, Bridgehill, Templehill, Dockhill, Flathill, Westhill, and the surrounding Federal Waters Territory, which was named the Federation of Many Hills City.
The Federation has a tripartite government. As all cities do, it has a directly elected Mayor, who, funnily enough, runs the Mayoral Office. Each State also elects a councillor to the Many Hills Valley Authority, an organisation not unlike the House of Commons or the Senate.
There is also a curious organisation known as the Most Hillsian Cabal, an association which appoints its successors, and it is also responsible for a number of areas of policy. This gives the Federation a certain amount of stability, and, although the situation does not sound democratic, it is, for the Cabal, every few years, tends to gain large amounts of power and declare coups d'etat, at which point the entire Cabal is fired and the spaces are put up for election. This odd convention ensures that the tenents of democracy are adhered to in the republic.

There were, of course, some people unhappy with the situation, and after one particular coup in 2034, the citizens of Westhill State (Westhill Island & environs), lead by their councillor General Gregory Love, seceded from the union to form the Lovesian (low-VEH-see-an) Collective, with its own curious political system. Still, in the Foreign Affairs Board of that particular country, an endless battle is fought between the Lovesian Nationalists and the Caballist Party, which seeks reconfederation. (They are colloquially known as the Nats and Cabs.)

The current Mayor of the Federation of Many Hills City is Juan Templehill; the leader of the MHVA is Geena Townhill, and the head of the Most Hillsian Cabal is Mary Dockhill.
The Lovesian Collective has no head of state, but the dominant ideology is currently environmental conservatism, although this arrangement is expected to be short-lived.
