I met an author on myspace when I first joined sometime in May of last year. We became friends posting comments on each other's sites. Well last week January 5th she e-mailed me to ask if I would do an interview about my role in a film I co-star in. Sure I say. She contacted me a few days later with the questions she wanted to ask and here is the link to the result. Article posted on January 14th. I just love feeling good. Sydney

I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COMMENT FROM YOU! JADE ALEX, Author of "Evil Among the Saints"
I think I was using LOA back when I was about 23, without even realizing it. I was going through a divorce, and had a 4 year old child that I would soon be largely responsible for.
I didn't have a college degree, and I didn't have much experience at all doing any type of work other than retail (which I knew I couldn't support myself and my daughter with). So I went to a temp agency and learned new skills. I figured I'd only get maybe a max of $9 an hour for a data entry job or entry level clerical, but I was determined in my mind that a good-paying job would come my way and everything would be alright.
My first "gig" was a one-day stint of answering phones for the small sales office of a high tech company. I almost didn't take it because I had a headache, and it would only be for one day anyway. But I told myself, girl, you'd better buck up and push through these things if you're going to support yourself! So I went. And it turned out they really needed someone for the whole week.
The phones didn't ring much, so I would ask other people if they wanted help with anything easy that I could learn. Well the manager was so impressed with my go-to-itiveness and positive attitude and quick learning that he offered me a job there that had just opened up, at $14 an hour!
When I saw the job duties listed, I couldn't do any of them!! But, I was told it was easier than it sounded, and it was. I did fine, and made some great friends and shocked the heck out of my family and friends that I got something paying so much so fast! :-)

So here I am, second day in a swank hotel in Puerto Rico,
all set to enjoy my vacation, when it becomes clear that my husband
will not be around to help out with our toddler--his days conducting
and recording with an orchestra and choir are going way longer than
anticipated...from 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM....no sweat, I have the kid, the
beach, the sun, what more could a girl who really, really, really needs
a vacation ask
for?....
I had left my business dealings pretty
tidy as I departed for this trip. I knew my partner was dealing
with one issue but other than that, all contacts and clients were meant
to be hush for the holidays but I thought hey, why not check in on the
ol' business machine....
And here's the PIVOT!!!
A very,
very prominent hotel conglomerate calls from their corporate
headquarters....it seems an executive for the company stayed in their Santa Monica
hotel where some of my product was placed and they loved it so much
they want to reopen their 2007 budget to approve anywhere from 1 to 1
million pieces for all 19 of their properties!!
Here I am now,
on the cell and computer, dialoguing with LA, Shanghaii, my partner,
ourfactory contacts, reviewing linen dealers and working with a thin
computer function on my computer and scraps of hotel paper. My
partner had pulled her back and was doing what she could while
horizontal! My daughter was begging for beach time, so I'm wading in
the ocean while trying to negotiate on the cell. I compiled
and presented in three days flat, a comprehensive bid for 1 million
pieces in two different versions for 19 properties.
The backdrop is beautiful, the periphery activity divine and I
marvel.....
Just
8 months into getting serious about this company and here I am
discussing a probable 2. plus million dollar deal and it's my vision,
the one I pulled out of a hat that they're wanting!
I had no
idea when I was a producer in the entertainment industry that this
would be the venue that got my mojo going but I do have to say I
FOCUSED ON THE ESSENCE of what I wanted and it all came to me as if in
a dream.
This is my 2007 call to action--wherever you are, even
if you are 100% happy in your now, give time to the dreaming of the
ESSENCE of what you want or more of what you got! Detach from specific
faces, positions, venues. Sure, specificity helps if it generates
more of the essence of what you're wanting but attachment to that "one
thing" as Abraham so often reminds us is the trick up!
Side
note: I had a great sleep last night--was awaken about 17 dozen
times by my dog who was frightened by the wind. However, all
through the night I was accompanied in dream state by Ashton
Kutcher. Now, I will never be Ashton, but I recently read a quote
by him that said: "he's the happiest married man on the planet
and he has every reason to be (paraphrase)." Now I have a dear
friend who is dear friends withAshton and I happen to have a vouch (if
the media weren't enough) that he is truly an aligned and enlightened
light of a being....he just stayed with me in my dream, smiling his
smile, talking about marriage, the struggles and all, hanging out,
shopping with me--it was his essence that stayed with me and I woke up
feeling sooo rested and alive and Ashton
Kutcher smiley (and his
smile does seem emblazoned in my mind right now).....oh so thank you
Ashton for well...just for being you!:)
So my point is, my celebration here is for the power, the gift in the
essence of things!
It's
all about the molding and the essence is the clay, that's my new wonder
these days....essence....that's my new 17 second fixation, my new
mantra, my new priority--what's the essence of what you want?
Focus on finding that and then when you got the tiger by her tail,
focus on it!
Off to take that huge massive order to the bank!
Cheers and happy, happy New Year Deliberate Creators!
