This is my brother's steam engine which he made.
After it was first made:

It runs well. For lathed parts he used a power drill as his lathe, and a hacksaw blade as the tool.
Here are it's features.
* Copper boiler, homemade.
* Chimney made from brass towel rail.
* Safety valve/releif valve made from hot water system safety valve.
*Gauge from Oxyacetlyene bottle.
* Firebox made from galvenised steel.
* Brackets for flywheel/cylinder, made from brackets sourced from toilet roll holder.
* Rosewood base and flywheel, along with brass bolts as spokes.
As relief valve is used, steam rushes into chimney. The chimney is open to firebox too.
He made some more recent additions to this engine:

The additions include
* Brass ring for flywheel.
* Homemade whistle added.
* Tap to alter steam pressure, made from gasfitting.
* A smaller better burner.
* Brass filler funnel.
A few closeup pics:
The newer burner, based on a Mamod SE3 type.

Chimney and an Oil can he made. Oil can body diameter is about 25mm (or 1 inch)

And finally the homemade whistle
