Most people who keep Malawi Mbuna also add some type of 'bottom feeder' to their setup. I keep Syndontis Multipunctatus and a single Green Phantom Plec. This variety of Plec is originally from the Amazon, however they adapt well to the pH suited to Mbuna and because they are 'armoured' can take an occasion bossing about they may also encounter!

This here is 'Speccy The Pleccy'. When he was first added to the tank he liked to hang out every night right in the front. He then became very shy and nocturnal and could only be seen with a torch in the dead of night. This last week he has decided to come out from behind his rock and be seen during daylight hours, and I'm very pleased because I think he's gorgeous!
