If you can read this, than you have officially entered the world of Makoma! (On the Internet, of course.) Okay, so you all know Makoma, right? OK, but for you people who don't know, Makoma is a Congolese Christian music group that sings in both English & Lingala. Lingala is a national language spoken in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC, once known as Zaire). Makoma formed in 1993, by Tutala Makoma. They started performing as a group in 1995 as a group called Nouveau Testament. But, when they moved to Holland was when they became Makoma. If you have seen many of Makoma interviews, you would've heard one of their songs then: Nayoki Sango. Now, when I say Christian music group that sings in English... that was MOST of the time... it was because they have been singing for the world quite a few times. (For Example, Baby Come & N.Y.C.)
Makoma currently sings for Westcoast Studios, formed in 1995 by Tutala Makoma. Westcoast Studios is located in Holland.
Some of their hit albums: Mokonzi Na Bakonzi, My Sweet Lord (Gospel Edition), No Jesus No Life, & Nzambe Na Bomoyi. The members of the group are: Nathalie Makoma, Annie Makoma, Pengani Makoma, Tutala Makoma, Duma Makoma, Martin Makoma, & Patrick Badine. If you know Nathalie Makoma already, it may be because of her solo albums: On Faith (2003) & I Saw The Light (2005). Nathalie Makoma has appeared on Idols : Season 4, aired in the Netherlands and in Congo. They traveled various countries performing, but unfortunately, she lost in the last round to Nikki. Makoma made a guest appearance on Idols with Nathalie in the finale, singing Ola Olé in English. Makoma has made video clips all around the world... Rotterdam, Holland, Belgium, Canada, France, & more.
