Making Extra Income Online

Most advertisers use pay per click advertising.  Pay-per-click is a design that allows you to get paid a specified amount (bid on depending on your site traffic and position on your site) when someone clicks on the ad on your website.  Other ad companies, like available on Text Link Ads, will pay you by the month no matter how many times users click on the ad.  Both types of advertisements have their pros and cons.

With pay-by-the-month, you are guaranteed money to run the ad on your website.  With Pay-per-click you only get paid when a user clicks on the ad.  Pay-per-click allows you the greatest potential to earn money, while pay-by-the-month gives you a steady income.  If you have a high volume of traffic, pay-per-click is by far the best way to go.

With little traffic, it can take a while to generate enough clicks and impressions to really start making money.  The key to EVERYTHING about websites is traffic.  You could have a hundred great pages with targeted ads on them and not make a cent if you don't have people looking at those ads.  To check out my tutorial on traffic, check out my Building Traffic page.

I've provided some descriptions and links of companies that will pay you to put ads on your site below.

The most popular and easiest to use is Google Adsense.  They walk you through the process of creating the ads and give you the code to cut and paste onto your site.  Unfortunately, they are rather picky with what else you can have on your site.  If your site violates their terms of service, they will delete your account.

The company that I use is called bidvertiser.  They allow you to be a publisher, an advertiser, or refer other people and make commission from them.  Unlike many other ad companies (especially Google), they don't force you to follow a strict rules policy.  I highly recommend it.

Project Wonderful is another company that doesn't charge you anything to be a member and has a very unique system for advertisers to bid on advertising space on your site.  Instead of pay-per-click like Google or paying by the month like Text-Link, Project Wonderful allows advertisers to bid on prices to run on your website for days or even hours.  It's a pretty good system that helps both advertisers and publishers (you) get a fair deal.
