* Always start with a clean base. Ensure you always have a cleansed and well moisturised face before applying foundation.
* If you’re going to spend more on any cosmetic product it should be your foundation. It is very important to have the perfect base for your make up. Opt for a foundation specifically for your skin type, there are many on the market these days to suit all kinds of individual needs.
* For everyday day use choose a cream foundation that is the same tone as your face. Use your fingers to blend well, as the warmth generated by clean hands ensures an evenly blended finish and do not forget to blend past the jaw line into the neck for a seamless finish.
* When choosing the right foundation shade, always opt for the colour that seems to 'disappear' as it fades right into your natural skin colour.

* With the change of seasons quite often your skin tone will change so make sure you adapt the colour of your foundation to suit. This can be done by adding light or dark powder to subtly warm it or cool it down.
* When applying concealer I find it is better to apply it after your foundation to ensure it doesn't get wiped away. You can put it under your foundation if you wish but if you find it does get wiped away after applying your foundation just add touch ups where needed and then set with powder.
* Always use a powder after applying your liquid foundation to ensure it sets nicely, stays put and controls shine. When having your photo taken always powder up because shine is one thing a photographer or editor can not get rid of.
* Eyebrows look best when filled in with a soft pencil or powder. Always brush eyebrows first in an up and outward motion with an eyebrow brush.
* To make the whites of your eyes look brighter, use a light blue pencil under the eyes. Blue eyeshadow lightly applied under the eyes works just as well.
* For wide set eyes apply deep toned shadow to inner halves of lids and light toned shadow onto the outer halves to make your eyes look closer together.
*For close set eyes brush a deep toned shadow on the outer half of the lids and blend from the center up and out to just above the crease then use a light shadow on the inner halves of the lids and just under the brow bone.
*Pull your eyelid taut when applying eyeliner.
* Bronzing powder is great to use to contour your face as dark colours recede and hollow out features.
* For a more chiselled cheek bones apply in the hollows of your cheeks when you suck them in, ensure you blend well. For a chiselled jaw line I like to use the excess powder from contouring my cheeks to lightly dust just underneath my jaw line, as we don't want an obvious colour change in the area to draw attention.
* You will get more mileage from your lipstick if you apply it with a lip brush. By doing this there are some twenty or so more applications to be had.
