The life of Ernie Davis is a life that is admired by many people.  His character was exemplary.  Ernie was known for being honest, trustworthy, kind, respectful, responsible, selfless and for having integrity.  These are attributes that parents and teachers are constantly trying to instill in children.  The traits that Ernie Davis displayed can be and should be emulated by children and adults alike. 

There are many ways that a person can exemplify these characteristics.  One way is by volunteering.  You can volunteer at any age, and through volunteering all of the characteristics that Ernie was known for, you can be known for too.

Ernie was a man who believed that "everybody wants some recognition, something that will make them stand out of a crowd and make people admire them". 

You can achieve this through volunteering.  Each of us has a special gift that we can give to others.  We can care and strive to be the best.
