I really like this set. Earlier this year during February, I went to an auction that had advertised the set as a "IVORY Mah - Jongg Set 1900". When I first saw the add I was so happy. But then reality started coming into play and I thought that the odds of a genuine ivory set for sale was very low (even though there are genuine ivory Mah Jong sets out there). So I talked with a friend (CHarli) and we both agreed that it is most likely not Ivory. We then began thinking that it might be a bone and bamboo set because when I had talked to the person who was holding the auction, she said that it was her fathers and that the tiles are backed with some sort of wood with a bunch of lines. The wood was bamboo and the tiles with the bamboo backing in the set that I got did have bone tops but the thing is, is that there were only 10 tiles with with bamboo backing and everything else was plastic. So when I first saw the set at the auction I was a little saddened because I had originally thought it was an Ivory set, then a Bone and Bamboo set, and it ended up being plastic. But it was still beautiful. So I had talked with my good friend again (CHarli), and she told me it was most likely a Catalin set because the plastic set had a lot of swirls on them that is not seen on bakelite. So I ended up buying the set for MUCH less than what it was worth because not many people there new what it was and I told them that it was NOT ivory, but plastic and so they lowered the first bid to $50 dollars and it whent up from there. I bought it for under $200. I still love this set and will always cherish it. Below are somemore pictures of the set. I think this is a TYL set. It came with the bank full of the coins. It did not come with any dice. So I'm on the lookout for some nice dice for this set.
