Poems from the Heart

All I Ever Wanted

All I ever wanted was to be loved,
Be held in someone’s arms tightly,
Some give and take, not shoved,
Kisses and cuddles nightly,
All I ever needed was to be understood,
Be cared for and wanted too,
Then you came along and I could,
Even if it was a dream for you.

Then you came along,
My heart sings a song,
Like I finally belong,
So right never wrong,
Is it a fantasy?
For you to want me,
No games, just love, just you.

All I ever wished for was to be kissed,
Share my life with someone true,
Forever there and never missed,
Always by you all night through,
All I ever prayed for was some release,
From the hurt and pain inside,
So now I am asking you please,
Don’t let this dream be denied.

Then you came in view,
Made everything new,
Fairy tales come true,
Happy again not blue,
Is not a fantasy?
What will be, will be,
No hurting, just holding, just you.

When

What can I do to hold you,
When it’s so hard to hold you;
How can I show you my love,
When its so hard to love you;
Why must I be at arms length,
When all I want is to hug you;
Can I go on showing you I care,
When I can’t be there for you;
Must I be forever a distant friend,
When I long to be a close lover;
Should I keep on knocking;
When I cannot even see your door;
Do you feel my heartache then,
When I ache to give you all;
Have we been to hell and back,
When this is just the beginning;
Will you hear my prayer at night,
When you are sleeping alone;
Shall I adore you much more,
When you at last you believe me;
Does absence make us stronger,
When I need to be present there;
Ask me why I carry on at all;
When at times it seems impossible;
What can I do but hold you dear,
When or how is unimportant; just that I do.

Looking Finding Found

Fixing the pieces of my broken heart,
Washing away the tears from my pillow case,
Forgetting all the painful times,
Making a fresh start;
Gathering up my faded letters,
Thinking thoughts of lovers past,
Leaving behind the hurtful words,
Turning the page anew;
Remembering each promise given,
Sleeping through the nightmares now,
Hoping for a brighter future,
Loving only you;
Picking myself up off the floor,
Dusting down the bruises inside,
Preparing to face another day,
Dreaming of you too;
Saying words my heart longs to hear,
Renewing vows and affections too,
Crying this time with such joy,
Belonging overdue;
Taking time to slowly build again,
Giving myself completely pure,
Turning sadness into hope,
Finding desires of you.

Power To Carry On

When words are not enough,
To tell you that I care,
Just close your eyes,
And I will be right there,
You’re never alone at night,
With my arms to hold you tight,
Whispering in your ear,
It’s alright my dear;

For every tear drop that falls,
I shall catch it, don’t you weep,
When sleep has taken flight,
Let me rock you off to sleep,
Angels watch over you til dawn,
Keep you safe until morn,
Dreams never ever lost,
I will count the cost;

With each beat of your heart,
Know that mine does too,
Holding you close from the start,
Never letting go of you,
Have faith in the power of love,
Pray to the glory up above,
That life will go on living,
That you can go on giving;

So rise to face another day,
With courage and determination,
Your body maybe weak today,
But strong with affirmation,
Let all that is within you cry out,
Kick and scream and shout,
A fighter you will always be,
If you just remember me.
