Madden and ESPN combined forces last year in an epic tournament where over 13 million votes were cast to decide who would get to be on the cover of the Madden 12 game. So how do you follow up a tournament like that where an underdog from Cleveland surprised the world and won the “prize” of being the next cover athlete?
Well, ESPN and EA had decided to make it even bigger this year. The field will start with 64 players and the first round will be teammate vs. teammate to see who makes it into the final 32 where each team will get a representative. Here’s the official SportsNation page with all the details. Voting is set to kick off March 7.
The big questions is will you vote for your favorite team or against them. After Peyton Hillis’s down year, the perception of a Madden Curse continues. Players like Michael Vick, Daunte Culpepper, Shaun Alexander, Troy Polamalu, and Donovan McNabb have fallen victim to “the curse” in the past. So do you believe in the curse, and if so does it affect how you vote?
I’ll tell you right now that as a Patriots fan, I don’t want Tom Brady anywhere near the cover and will vote against him to make sure he’s not affected by it. I’d like to nominate Eli Manning, but I’m not bitter at all…
Who’s your pick? Give me your selection in the comments and vote in our poll whether you would vote for or against a player from your team being the cover athlete.

Of course, the stakes were slightly lower.
The stars of the game flocked to the annual EA Sports event to see some of the best players of the past and present square off in the popular video game.
Many of the players were more than happy to discuss the game’s player ratings, with nearly all of them believing they are being short-changed.
“That’s a problem because I feel like I should be one more notch, two more notches faster,” LeSean McCoy said of his speed rating. “I should be at least 96.”

Just moments after Brady's team the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants 21-17, the supermodel was overheard criticising her husband's side in response to taunts from fans.
While waiting for the elevator to leave the VIP suites at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Giselle let rip in a F-word rant which saw her slam Brady's teammates efforts on the field.
In video footage capture by theinsider.com, she was heard saying: "My husband can not f---ing throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."
