“…I want to say to every Negro women present, don’t sit and wait for the opportunities to come… Get up and make them!” –Madame CJ Walker. Madame CJ Walker created her own business selling hair products gear to African Americans. Even though Walker was a self made millionaire she share her money with African American organizations and community to help encourage them to do better. Walker gave to the YMCA, NAACP, the National Association of Colored Women and Tuskegee and Palmer Memorial Institute and other African American organization to show her support and continue to give back.
She contributed large amounts of money at NAACP conventions, because she believed in what they were and are doing to empower and better the world for colored people. “Cleanliness and loveliness, as assests and aids to self-respect and racial advances.” –Madame CJ Walker. In her will, she left money to many schools, organizations, and other institution, everyone in the community seemed blessed to have had her. The contribution made by Madame CJ Walker will be forever grateful for years to come even when she is gone.
