Mackenzie Rosman was born in Charleston, South Carolina on December 28, 1989. She has a younger brother Chandler, who is 10 years old. Her parents divorced when she was 4 years old, and that's when they moved to Los Angeles, California. In the spring of 1996, she auditioned for 7th Heaven. She got the part because she shook all the director's hands and introduced herself. Her mom got remarried and now she has a step-dad and a step-sister Katelyn Salmont who appeared on the 7th Heaven episode "Back in the Saddle Again." In real life Katelyn has cystic fibrosis, a sickness which shortens the life span to about 20 years.
