About me

My name is Kerri and i'm a junior member of the BRC. I've been breeding and showing rabbits for nearly three years. I breed Thriantas and only keep a small stud due to school work and other hobbies. It is my firm belief that its quality that counts and not quanity.  Thanks to alot of very generous people i've managed to aquire some lovely stock and i am now starting to breed my own lines.  I am based in hampshire and mainly only go to shows around the south, soon however i hope to travel futher afield to several bigger shows.

Although Thriantas are my main breed that I keep this has not always been the case. I originally started off with Dwarf lops (mainly Siamese Smoke and Marten smoke) a few years back. After having kept Dwarf lops for a while I decided that I might like to get a second breed. I decided to get something a bit different and after contemplating what it should be I found that the Thrianta fitted the bill perfectly. When some came available locally I jumped at the chance. Sue Dickenson kindly sold me a doe and buck. After keeping them for a while and purchasing a further  buck from Paul Hopkins (Raven stud) I was absoulutly smitten with the breed. After having several litters and keeping back some lovely babies I discovered that I was fast running out of space. I made what at the time seemed like a hard descion. I decided I had to give up one of breeds in order to do either of the breeds justice. Well to cut a long story short I gave up my Dwarf lops in order to concerntrate on my Thriantas.I sold most of my Dwarf Lops- mainly to other fanciers although a couple have been rehomed as pets.

I recently dabbled in Polish. It wouldn't be a major exaggeration to stay that me and Polish do not get along. I was kindly given a mated doe or two or three (I had so many I can't remember) from Ken Collier. My good friends Emily Collins and Rozie Plowman (Krolik stud) also gave me various Polish. Many people mentioned to me that I might have a bit of trouble breeding them. I took it all on board and decided that a challenge would be good for me. I might have trouble breeding them, understatement of the year! I couldn't keep the bloody things alive, let alone breed them! After the unintentional death of many innocent (and damn right evil ones as well!), I decided to abandon my plans of keeping Polish. I then had a stack of small hutches which just had to be filled (or that was my excuse). Hence the reason why I brought some cavies.Paula Pyke recently gave me an angora. I've had much fun and learnt alot from my beautiful white doe. Unfortunatly I don't currently have the time to carry on keeping her or any more but when I do I'm sure the angora people will lure me back into their lair.

I have been quite successful on the show bench considering that I have not kept Thriantas for a great deal of time. In the near future I hope to start judging. I am now getting my last few signatures so that I can judge junior CoM and 1* shows.

I have many other pets and have always loved animals since I was a young child. I currently breed Black and Tan guinea pigs and hairless mice although I do not keep many of either. The rabbits are my main hobby and as I do not have a great deal of spare time, they take priority. When I leave school I hope to continue with either of my two main areas of interest: animals or sport.
