Definitions state the meaning of a term or idea and are ALWAYS reversible.
 
 

Definition 1: Lines, rays or segments that intersect at right angles are perpendicular. (Perpendicularity CANNOT be assumed.)
 
Definition 2: Congruent triangles (polygons) – all pairs of corresponding parts are congruent.
 
Definition 3: A median of a triangle is a line segment drawn from any vertex of the triangle to the midpoint of the opposite side. (a median divides into two congruent segments, or bisects the side to which it is drawn)
 
Definition 4: An altitude of a triangle is a line segment drawn from any vertex of the triangle to the opposite side, extend if necessary, and perpendicular to that side. (An altitude of a triangle forms a right <90> angle with one of the sides.)
