Soprano Kathleen Treat has been singing for over 20 years. In 1995, she made her professional debut in Moliere & Mozart with a la Carte Productions, performed at the Kerr Cultural Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. She portrayed the ingenue from Moliere's School for Wives, while singing music from Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. From 1996-1999, she was the lead soprano in Phoenix-based Little Women Singers, a division of Singsation, Inc. Kathleen has been singing with Showcase Concerts' The Royal Renaissance Singers since 1999, and in 2003, she played Little Red, in Little Red's Most Unusual Day, with OperaTunity (a division of Showcase Concerts, Inc.). In the Spring of 2008, Kathleen performed some of the most beautiful music ever written: Mozart's Mass in C Minor, with the West Valley Chorale.
Kathleen graduated Magna Cum Laude from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. While at GCU, Kathleen performed many noteworthy opera roles, including Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Beth March in Mark Adamo's opera Little Women, and Laurie Moss in The Tenderland by Aaron Copland. She was also featured as the only student soloist in the University's masterworks performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah in 2003.
In 2002, she received an Honorable Mention "Maxie" award for Best Actress in a Musical/Opera for her role as Beth in Little Women, presented by Max McQueen from the East Valley Tribune. Additionally, Kathleen was awarded first place in 2002, second place in 2003, and first place in 2004 in her respective categories in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition.
Kathleen served as a judge for the preliminary vocal auditions for the Herberger Young Artist Competition in 2008 and 2009. She also served as the soprano section adjudicator for the Greater Phoenix Honor Choir auditions in 2008.
Kathleen currently teaches voice & piano lessons at her private studio near Surprise, Arizona. She is also available for solo singing at many venues such as weddings, private parties, and concerts.
