This page is dedicated to Jassy quaker.
I met Jassy quaker a year before she finally came to me. She was a neglected little bird. I had begged and begged her owners to let her come home with me. With a little help from my dad she finally did In October of 2003. She died December 21, 2003 from Fatty Liver Disease. She had spent her life eating cheap low grade seed and it was the death of her. Please take a close look at your birds diet. What are you feeding them? An all seed diet has caused death of many a parrot. Pellets, vegatables should be making up the majority of your birds diet. If you are unsuccesful with pellets orr are unwilling to try then at least use a high grade good seed mix. Bird seed from Walmart does not cut it. Please don't let your bird end up like Jassy
Jassy has a heart of gold. She wanted to befreind every bird and human she met. I held her and loved on her every day. The minute I opened her cage she would hop out into my hand purring like a cat and fluffed up so she looked like a tennis ball. She stole my heart from the first time we met. She did not know how to bite or be aggresive. She had such a pure heart. I can only hope in the short three months she was with us I gave her enough lovings to make up for her short and sorry life. I felt such anger at her previous owners. A vet check once in a while and good food would have gone a long way towards saving her life. How could they not see what a precious treasure they had?
I don't know if I want to do rescue anymore. Jassy broke my heart like no other bird could. If you don't feel like you can spend the money for a good diet or a yearly vet check, find a parrot rescue. There are so many people out there that WANT your bird and will take good care of it. Don't be selfish like Jassy's owners. There is NO EXCUSE for such neglect!
