It's been a funny start to the year with work continuing on the new fiddle yard.
Some members have been consentrating on developing new sounds so popular locos like the 37s so they do not all sound the same.
New small layouts are also beeing develloped
A Layout with no Name as yet.

Part of a new Layout under development.
17/09/08 was a quiet night but work carried on at pace.
The fiddle yard now ready for track laying had its first engin movements all be it on temporary layed track.

Monster freight cargo waggons. An American steam loco waits in the background.

Try this for size Looking lost on the fiddle yard.
The other layout that is making head way is the Geoscenics display.

For a small layout 37025 looks small against the rock face.

A small layout under construction for L&Y and Geoscenics basebord is 4ft X 2ft will become a travelling advertisment for product use.

Taking shape track layed rock face shaped and painted.

The first of many boards for the new OO round-and-round layout. JP and the team have been working their magic on these as you can see!
On another part of the 'workbench' lurk a few more items...including a O gauge soundchip ready to be fitted with Class 108 recordings, and an O gauge Class 03 Shunter.

Bits and pieces! Various engines in states of repair - all part of the fun!
Something for the future.....nearly as good as our soundchip!
The club continues to grow with new members.
A start has been made on the boards for the fiddle yard for the new OO guage layout.
We have the equipment to now make our own sounds , having produced a very convincing class 37 (free upgrade to members only) look out for the sounds on our layouts at exhibitions!
Oldham King street will not be shown at our 2008 show, due to the fact that a rather large (47 feet!) O guage layout will be our centrepiece! With DCC AND fully controllable electronic signaling, it has to be seen to be believed!
Here is a picture of the layout on test at the club.

08077 runs to sidings.
For more pictures please see the page headed Apethorn junction .
Holden Junction is to go round and round hopefully this will be the last major alteration .
Two layouts have been invited to Layland MRG 2008 Show whitch are Kilchoan and Padgate Lane.
Thanks to Layland MRG For looking after us with Holden Junction witch ran better on the Sunday but We have come to the conclusion that it will require a full rewire and further modification.
We had a fun running night on one of our members layouts. Here are just a few pictures from the evening.

More new faces have arrived more hands to help with the layouts, Holden Junction moves forward and now needs attention to the wiring.
As for the O Gauge a little paint starts to change the appearance and making it DCC seems to be the answer. Points that were seized are freed and a start has been made on the ballast.
This club was formed as a Model Rail Group which aims to promote the use of DCC and helping others get to grips with new equipment
the official web site http://www.lydcc.org.uk/ was set up soon after.
It was decided that we should become members of NWMRC and the fee to join was dispatched. All of our members exhibition layouts will be registered as a matter of course.
