Full Name: Alexzandra Spencer Johnson
Birth Date: November 4th, 1986
Born In: BC, Canada
Alexzandra Spencer Johnson was born on November fourth, 1986, and is the sixth child in a large family of ten children. From the age of three, Alexz would frequently entertain and sing for her large extended family, and it became very apparent to all that she was a very talented little girl with a gifted vocal range. By the age of seven, she was receiving vocal training, and participating in festivals with her local youth choir. She was often selected to showcase her singing ability with solo performances, at school and community functions, loving the opportunity to show her vocal strength and range.
As a preteen, Alexz entered many talent contests and festivals, including a National Anthem Contest at the age of eleven. Winning this resulted in her first CBC interview, numerous radio and television interviews, and interest from management. During this same year, she was voted the Best Anthem singer of the season by the Vancouver Sun. As her celebrity grew, Alexz was being referred to as our “West Coast Celine”, and would frequently sing the anthem for the NHL and the NBA, and open charity events and fairs around the province. She opened the Variety Club show singing a duet with Bob McGrath, sang her first set of songs at the Molson Indy, and entertained on New Years Eve at Planet Hollywood as the sole entertainment at the age of twelve. She was becoming a seasoned professional, and loving every minute of it.
While pursuing her singing career, Alexz’s natural poise, and outgoing personality, lead her into acting, where she also excelled, landing auditions for commercials, and a showcase for a pilot called “Most talented Kids”. At the age of thirteen, she auditioned for the Disney television series “So Weird”, and landed the lead role of “Annie”. The part was custom made for Alexz as she played a girl with supernatural powers, with a gift from her panther guide of “singing.” This presented the unique opportunity to sing on many of the episodes, and develop both her stage presence and acting skills. She even sang one of her very own songs on an episode at the age of thirteen. No more was she interested in emulating her singing idol, “Celine”, she now knew she would write her own music.
Since “So Weird”, Alexz was pursuing her music career with a vengeance, writing with her brother Brendan, also a songwriter and producer,
and learning guitar. She completed a demo of her music to shop to music labels, and had the pleasure of opening and working with David Foster for his charity events. All of this, while working in television, receiving many parts and principal roles in pilots, M.O.W.’s, and even her first feature film, kept her a busy, busy girl. She was on “Entertainment Tonite”, as one of three girls in North America selected to audition for the Britney Spears television movie project based on her best selling book, and travel was becoming a big part of her life. Little did she know it would become even more so. In the spring of 2004, Alexz auditioned for the lead role in a unique series just being developed, based on a girl much like Alexz who wins a contest, and becomes an instant celebrity. The irony is that Alexz has always avoided the “Idol” contests, always wanting to take the slow path of growth as a singer songwriter, so as to keep control of her own music and career growth. However, as life would have it, Alexz was more than excited to find out that she had indeed landed the role of Jude, and her life was going to take on the fast-paced life of a young successful actress and singer, playing out the drama of a young girl whose life is about to change in a huge way. Art imitating life, or life imitating art, Alexz Johnson becomes Jude Harrison, and gets to experience the ups and downs of an “Instant Star”.
