What I Look For in Videos

I'm a pretty strict judge of videos, but I still appreciate the fact that it takes a lot of practice and people slowly but steadily improve if they try.

However, I am obviously going to base some of what I look for in videos off of what I do personally. I know I'm no expert by any means, and I am far from perfect. I have never even really tried most of the advanced movie makers, so I can't claim to even know what all of the fancy effects are called that, if used properly, can make a video exceptional and take my breath away!

So like I said, I tend to judge videos I watch off of what I do personally. I may be wrong, but I feel like I'm best known for my tendency to always match the lyrics of a song. Therefore, if I see a video, the first thing I'll notice will probably be if  it matches the lyrics of a song or not. However, if it doesn't, that doesn't mean I think the video is bad - because sometimes there is good reason to not match the lyrics of a song, particularly if it's an AU video with a complicated storyline, or if the lyrics are metaphorical, etc.

I also like it if people change scenes often enough that you don't get bored - yes, I'm an impatient person, lol. Not really, if I was truly an impatient person I would never have made it past 100 videos. But I feel, even if a scene matches an entire verse of a song, despite loving it when videos match lyrics, I will think you are being lazy if you don't bother to change the scene, and it will make me think less of your video.

I also have a personal preference where I tend to love flashy effects, as long as it's no more than 2 or 3 at a time... I mean, try not to go overkill with effects. But in general, as long as you are consistent with your effects throughout your video, even if it's just one coloring effect or something, I tend to feel it makes a video more connected and beautiful.

So if you're using a fast song, change your clips fast, don't be afraid to make me dizzy, lol! If you're using a slow song, keep that in mind, and don't make it any faster than it should be. If you want to use audio in your video, please try not to cover up lyrics of the song, and make sure I can hear both the music and the audio at the same, reasonable volume.

If you have any questions about what I look for in videos that I haven't covered here, please ask! I may update this later, if I think of something else...
