SIMPLY GIVING

Stewardship Committee Temple Talk

May 21, 2006

Good morning. I’ll keep this very brief. Simply Giving. Many of you know what this is. It’s a program that makes it much easier for you to give financially to this congregation. You sign up with a company called “Thrivent Financial for Lutherans,” and that company deducts money from your checking account automatically each week or each month, whichever you prefer, and gives that money to Reformation on your behalf. Why do this? It’s easier for you because you don’t have to write checks or fill out envelopes; it’s better for Reformation because it guarantees a definite dollar amount over a definite period of time; and it puts you in a good relationship financially with God. If you go on vacation, the offering still gets made. If you’re sick and have to stay home on a Sunday, the offering still gets made. You’re always up to date. You’re never behind. You never have to catch up. And Reformation receives the offering it planned on receiving and is able to do the work it planned on doing. Plus you have the confidence of knowing you gave God first fruits. Before you spent your income on anything else, you gave God His portion. That is good stewardship. So please consider the Simply Giving program. There are brochures out in the Narthex with further information – they look like this (holds up brochure). Thank you and God be with you.
